Been on Maui for 22 years and somehow missed this place walked in for the first time last night. Ice cream was delicious the staff was friendly, and the owner was an amazing guy super friendly. He interacted with all of the customers. great place with lots of aloha. Definitely recommend it, hop on in and enjoy some great tasting ice cream with an awesome staff

Delicious refreshing shaved ice with plenty of options including sugar free. The service seems a bit slow.

Nice stop on Front Street for that stubborn sweet tooth. It surrounded by plenty of shops and restaurants to work off the extra calories from the shaved ice and ice cream. They have sugar free as well.

Went here after our family dinner. My family and I came here cheerful wanting our desserts. When we left, we were very angry from the bad service.
The lady behind the counter couldn’t have been more unpleasant. Every scoop of ice cream got her madder and madder. I asked her a question about the waffle cone, and before I finished talking, she would hand me something I didn’t even ask. Then when I tried to repeat my question, she got mad like I was asking her something else, then proceeded to answer me rudely.
We will never return to this place ever.

Service = –5!!! Yes, a negative! Nothing worse than a bad attitude.

Disappointed with Scoops, will not go back. 1) Too expensive– the prices are high and the scoops of ice cream are small. 2) They sell Costco cookies and label them as Home Made. 3) We ordered 20 scoops of Ice cream over a 3 day period with our large extended family. To our surprise, the owner would not honor the punch cards we used. Essentially, order 10 scoops and get one free. I cant believe we went there 3 times and bought 20 scoops and he wouldnt give us 2 free scoops. 4) The owner only accepts Cash Only. Curious to know if he reports all of his sales to the IRS…

Craving ice cream and you are in Lahaina, Maui? Have no fear, come to Scoops and you’ll have your assortment of ice cream and nene eggs to your heart’s delight.
At least, that’s what friends of mine and I did on a recent trip to Lahaina on Dr MLK Jr weekend while running the 2016 Maui Ocean Front half marathon. No regrets either. I spent this visit to Scoops Lahaina with a group of friends, whom like me, were also doing the Maui oceanfront marathon as well and needed some dessert after a meal of sushi, booze, and fun at the Lahaina Sushi Ko nearby in Front Street, just a block or so away from Scoops. We just found this place by accident when I searched on Unilocal on the nearest ice cream parlor and Scoops happened to pop up. We ended up stopping by twice on that Saturday night, since one of my friends couldn’t have enough of these nene eggs and ice cream. It was a delicious treat that could not be beat when sizzling in the hot Maui sun, literally and figuratively. Only thing that sucks is that Scoops only accepts cash and travelers checks. Too bad though. The overall experience (s) were good, fun, positive, and quite delicious.
The fun part of the evening’s experience (s) at Scoops was when the owner looked at my 50 states marathon finisher shirt and thought that it was amazing that it was possible to do that. A conversation ensued and it was nice to talk to them about how the journey to run all 50 states go and how my friends and I were gathered here in Maui that weekend to run a race there. One of my friends was there to finish her 50^th state that weekend, which she did in stellar fashion. At Scoops, she ended up having 2 ice cream treats in a span of 15 minutes. I guess it is worth it, as she was on vacation anyway! The owner was amazed at the bunch of us 50 staters and I’m sure he was glad we were here. It was special and you just had to be there. Scoops is located at 888 Front Street, which is across the street from Bubba Gump Shrimp Co Lahaina. While this place seems like a stereotypical ice cream parlor, it has a charm that beams with aloha.
For myself, I ended up getting my old standby chocolate — double scoop in a cup. Lucky thing that I did have cash on hand, otherwise I either had to scramble for an ATM machine or come back another time. The prices here were on par with other ice cream parlors I had visited in the past. A friend of mine got the nene eggs, which were basically peanut butter balls, while others got an order of assorted flavors, which I don’t remember at the present time. Still, I found it interesting that they accept travelers cheques. In this day and age, travelers checks are still being used? Usually it’s cash or credit cards, but it is what it is. Service here was great, friendly, and fast. I guess you just had to be there during marathon weekend, where all the runners converge and help prop up the local economy. I enjoyed my time here at Scoops Lahaina and hope you will too, if you are needing your ice cream fix and visiting Lahaina town.

Shaved ice made dripping with syrup. He blended my iced latte with a little ice cream it was fabulous. Best ice cream and best service in Lahaina!

We went here on a whim and where pleasantly surprised! The man serving us ice cream was funny and engaged my two young kids. Best of all the ice cream was great! If you want great ice cream look no further.

My bf suggested this ice cream shop since we already tried a few others on Front St. Located across the street from Bubba Gump.
As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by an older gentleman. I like the vibe here, it was very friendly. They serve Roselani ice cream and again I got the mac nut crunch, this time in a chocolate dipped waffle cone. It was around $ 6 and it was very delicious.
Staff was very friendly and fast. We walked across the street after and watched the ocean waves while eating our ice cream.

I enjoyed our stop here for some shaved ice that turned into many scoops of ice cream in waffle cones. My daughter tasted close to 60% of the flavors when the owner correctly ID’d her as a «mint-​n-​chipper» which means choosing anything besides mint and chip is a big challenge. She did as did I. We thought the Orange and Pineapple is delicious.

The KONA ice cream is AMAZING!!! The customer service was great and we will be back!

We were tired and thirsty, just finished with an all-​day tour of Maui and had the driver drop us off where we could grab something cold before lining up for the tender back to the cruise ship. Had a shave ice, which at $ 4 and change for frozen water and some flavored syrup seemed high, but this IS Hawaii, folks.
Loved how it was fluffy and the syrup permeated the whole thing– major step up from the snow cones of my youth, which were crushed ice, often frozen into a solid mass, which would become a flavorless lump of ice once you sucked on it a couple of times, then threw that part away and drank the juice from the bottom of the wilted paper cone.
This was sweet and good all the way through, although the cherry syrup was a little overly sweet and artificial tasting.
I understand that «real» shave ice comes with a variety of unconventional add-​ons like condensed milk. This sounds absolutely horrific to me; but then I don’t like root beer floats because mixing dairy and clear liquids is just gross.
As for the complaints about service, the little gals just seemed like typical teenagers to me. Doing their job but wishing they were at the beach. They do live in Hawaii– can’t really blame them.

We went there tonight and the ice cream was good and the (I’m assuming) the owner was very nice and got my kids laughing. Would go again next time we are in Lahaina

Do yourself a favor and find the nearest Lampert’s! We were looking for Lampert’s but found this so we decided to try it. The ice cream really isn’t good. In addition, our two ice cream cones were almost $ 14!

Sucks. Dirty, cases are a mess, some flavors are old and have that gross melted crust of re-​frozen ice cream slime, portions are small and overpriced. The gelato shop on the same side of the street a few blocks down towards the banyan tree blows it away in terms of quality and value.

After many trips to Maui, I’ve finally learned not to go to Scoops to get ice cream. The smell of waffle cones always lures me in, but it’s not worth it. The shop is so dirty, the man working among the girls behind the counter is rude and unfriendly, and the scoops of ice cream are so small for the outrageous price. Do yourself a favor and go to Banyan Treats at the other end of Front Street. They sell Roselani ice cream (so good!) and the shop is cute, clean and fun with super-​friendly owners.

Do NOT get the «Hawaiian Shave Ice» that is plastered all over the windows. IT IS NOT SHAVE ICE!!! Go less than a block down the road to Ululani’s if you want REAL shave ice and a real shave ice experience. Scoops, please stick to waffle cones and ice cream.

I was craving chocolate chip ice cream so I headed over to Lappert’s. I was disappointed to see the name Scoops on the sign but saw that they still served Lappert’s ice cream so I was a little happier.
ATMOSPHERE:
The tiny shop is old and tired. The ice cream in the displays were either half full or almost empty. When it was a Lappert’s, you could smell the fresh waffle cones from hundreds of feet away. Not any more.
ICE CREAM:
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough — I had to settle for this as there was no plain chocolate chip available. My tiny single scoop in a waffle cone cost $ 5. The scoop from the bottom of the barrel was 75% ice cream and 25% a huge ice berg of cookie dough. The waffle cone was good at the top, horribly stale and rock hard at the bottom.
SERVICE:
The 2 ladies behind the counter were friendly. They only accept cash and travelers checks.
OVERALL:
They might still serve Lappert’s ice cream but that’s about it. They’d better spruce up the shop and keep fresh waffle cones on hand if they want to survive.

This ice cream shoppe has a problem with their cooling units. The ice cream tastes like the flavors are old or stale.
Had three different flavors and they all tasted like they had been refrigerated too long and flavors had mixed.
The «fresh» cookies were stale.

Along Front St., there a variety of places to get dessert. You can go to Scoops and Lappert’s for ice cream, Hula’s for ice cream sandwiches, Ono Gelato for gelato, and Ululani’s Shaved Ice. It was an ice cream night, and since Lappert’s was on the other end of Front St., we decided to check out Scoops. Scoops does sell Lappert’s ice cream as well, but prices are a bit high, a Single scoop for $ 3.90, and Two scoops for ($ 6.05). If you want a waffle cone, add another $ 0.90. A hand-​packed pint will bring you down $ 8.75. But don’t expect to go to Lappert’s for cheaper ice cream, as it is the same.
The service here is something left to be desired. Operated by Asian girls, they can carry attitudes that you would expect to get in New York. The place was pretty busy the night I went, and people were staring and trying to decide what to get. Some of the staff were just getting impatient and wanted their customers to leave if they couldn’t decide what to order. When I put in my order politely, the girl assisting me responded in a very agitated way. Maybe she had a bad night, and maybe it was 4^th of July, but at least put a smile and be somewhat polite.
As for the ice cream, the servings were small, about the size of an ice cream scoop. Don’t expect to get generous portions as you would expect at Baskin Robbins. Lappert’s ice cream is good and definitely worth trying, but when it comes down to it all, their ice cream does not excel leaving you wanting more. I would definitely go to Ululani’s for a truer Hawaiian experience, authentic shaved ice.
