Not bad, in a very competitive market for local plated food fare. This strip contains a host of restaurants to choose from.

We ordered their loco moco and chicken katsu for dinner. Chicken katsu was undercooked and loco moco was just ok. It’s not a sit down place but more of a to-go order kinda place.

Went in there for a quick lunch. The place did not disappoint. It should be noted it is primarily for take out. There is a table outside and a lunch counter, but that is it. They were fast and the portions were large. Food was reasonably priced, especially for Maui. I had the chicken katsu, it was very crispy even after a 10 min car ride. The sauce was a perfect compliment to the chicken and rice. My wife had the bbq chicken(it was grilled). It was also delicious. The macaroni salad as a side is standard fare for the island and nothing to write home about. I would go there again for sure.

I had the Mahi mahi sauté is was so delicious! It was a great combination of lemon, capers, wine and butter. Definitely would come here again for it!

A real dive. But the fish was delicious, fresh, well cooked, and reasonably priced. The counter girl was rather surly and impatient, must be another side of island life. It’s pretty dark inside, no ambience, no view despite being about a block away from the beach. The television was showing some horribly violent crime dramas well before noon. But the fish, it was delicious, fresh, and well cooked. I particularly recommend the lemon caper dishes, the ono with sundried tomatoes was fantastic. If I were a regular, I would make friends with surly girl, she seems pretty cool actually if you got to know her, and we were being stupid tourists.

OMG! The lemon caper sauce on the fish just kills… Any one of the big hotels would be proud to have a sauce that good! And their vegetables(uncommon in Hawaii cooking) are really good. Someone is paying attention to details there! Tatted sullen teen at the register is no help, move 10 feet to the cooks and ask your questions. Cash only!!! Reasonable prices, I skipped the crowds at the Fish Market and stopped here. To go or eat in.

Busy place with great, super flavorful dishes. Good place for take out as they dont have too many seats. I had the lemon caper butter mahi thing and it was amazing.

This place is so good. I work in Lahaina and will drive up to Honokowai during lunch hour. I usually order take out and drive to a park and eat near the water.

We shared a lunch from here — mahi mahi in lemon caper sauce. The sauce was too gloopy, although the lemon freshness worked well. Overall though it just felt a bit sad.

Katsu! That’s all I have to say! The best I’ve had! Crunchy on the outside and tender and melt in your mouth inside. The sauce is just the perfect blend as well! Steak was good too. BBQ chicken and mac salad were just alright. But come for the katsu!

I wasn’t impressed with my experience here I got takeout, and the food was ready pretty quickly. However, it was left sitting the for ten minutes before someone finally came and called my name. I had ordered the Ono with Lemon Caper Sun Dried Tomato Sauce and the Fish and Chicken combo. I was very disappointed that the food was packaged up in styrofoam containers. It’s so wasteful and simply negligent for a business to do this when there are cost-effective alternatives that are recyclable or compostable. Despite the fact that the cashier had triple-checked our food order, I was surprised to find when I got back to my condo that they had gotten my order wrong. Instead of a Fish and Chicken combo, they gave me a Beef and Chicken combo. This is especially unfortunate because I avoid eating beef. The lemon ono was very tasty, and the chicken was pretty good, but not worth it.

1÷27÷2016: I HATE cash only restaurants. You lost a star because of that. And to be honest, you’ll probably never see me again as a customer because of it. Too bad. Your place is awesome… likely the the best plate lunch place on Maui. Chicken Katsu and Terriyaki chicken are to die for. Sorry, I just don’t have a way to pay for your delicious food, since I rarely carry cash. Was nice knowing you 1÷28÷16: Ok, I had to come back. This place is just so good. ATM withdrawal cost me another 3 bucks at ABC store… so annoying. But oh so delicious.

This is a tiny divey place, so if I’d suggest ordering to-go from here and dining at your house or hotel room. We had their Korean Chicken and Ono with Lemon Caper Sun Dried Tomato Sauce. Both were really good and worth getting again. Each of these meals comes with white rice and I asked for veggies, which was zucchini and few other things. Overall a good, easy meal. The Ono was really good and something you must try if you come.

The Loco Moco patty was like a flavorful meatloaf! It was awesome in flavor to say the least!

This is a place where you order take out and eat it back in your hotel room or condo. It takes about 15 minutes from phone order to ready. As everyone says, order the Lemon Caper Ono Fish Entrée. It’s really good and flavorful. However, do not order the Korean chicken dish. It was soooo dry and had no flavor. I found another take out place and was able to get some containers of soy sauce for the chicken. The price is reasonable for what you get. We’ll be back, but only for the lemon caper ono!

Absolute best mahi sandwitch I have ever had, conformed by wifey as well. Little messy, but oh so good. Beach kinda across the street — go eat there… parking sucks, be glad it’s a rental car :-)

This is really a take-out place so don’t come expecting to really have a spot to bring a large group or family to eat. Think picnic style in to-go boxes. That said, fresh fish is being cooked up on the grills behind the counter all day! The girl working the front is super friendly and helpful and there’s water available while you wait. There was even a big tv to watch the game while I was waiting to pick up food. I had the mahi mahi with rice and stir fried veggies with a kind of Chinese style sauce, and even an hour later when I got around to eating it was delicious. The reviews don’t lie. I will say the prices here are a bit higher than the fish market a few doors to the right, but it’s a completely different style. The name would make it seem like a Japanese restaurant, but I don’t think it really gives off a Japanese food vibe once you’re inside. Just my two cents!

They cook your food fresh to order. The lemon wine caper sauce is amazing. I wish i had this sauce to pour over everything. Its tangy/sourness of the sauce compliment the white fish so well. We got the Mahi Mahi and Ono Lemon Capers. So bomb. I wish they offer Swai or Saba here since i’m not a big fan of a thick steak-like texture of the Ono. Mahi Mahi is a little bit less steak-like and more fluffy but still not as soft as Swai or Saba. But it’s just my preference for the natural texture of the fish. The vegetable side dish is also very delicious. They had a light sesame flavor that went well with the sourness of the lemon caper sauce. Definitely give this place a try when you’re here

Reasonable prices for great tasting food! I loved the buttery lemon sauce on the Mahi Mahi sauté…I’ve had better black bean beef chow fun but the teriyaki steak was super tasty and fresh and priced well for the portion size. The option of vegetables instead of macaroni salad was a big plus since I’m not the greatest fan of macaroni salads. Great place to go for mixed plates if you’re in the Lahaina area.
