Great guide (Mike)! Great dives and we got to see so many wonderful sea creatures! Breathtaking!
Only negative: we were told it was a boat dive, turned out to be a shore dive… and no snacks between dives. Bring your own snacks and waters.

Went in for a intro class and ended up getting my open water certification over a 2 day period. It was an awesome experience and I would highly recommend Mike and the rest of the dive crew. Mike is really great at making you feel calm and confident in what can be a pretty stressful hobby starting out.

We rented gear and tanks for this dive op for a week but never dove with them.
Rich helped us out though we had to wait a little initially so he could help us out. Their BCDs, regs and weights all seemed fairly new and in good shape (Aqua-​Lung). The tanks were 10 refills for $ 40 in a week, which was a great deal. We had everything else, which we brought with us.
They were kind of sticklers for cleaning out all our gear and with unused air. We didn’t end up using the last two 80 cylinders but they didn’t give us a refund for it because we had «punched out» the air-​fill card. I mean it’s only like $ 8, but still, thought Hawaiians were a little more chilled and laid back than that. Renting 2 BCDs, regs, and weights came out to $ 300 plus tax for the week. Not too bad but not cheap either.

Highly recommend these guys for completing your open water diver certification (and I’ve heard great things about the day trips– we’d love to come back for these!). Thank you Will for being an awesome instructor, especially as our 2^nd dive day had to be postponed a couple days due to my cold (just my luck!). This was a lot (A LOT) to ask and you were willing to work with me on the scheduling. The dives were amazing and Will was very patient and knowledgeable. Everyone at the shop was friendly and helped us answer all our questions. Thank you again!

Just received my open water diver cert from these guys and had a blast. Our instructor was Alex A. and he did a great job; very friendly and super knowledgable. I’m a local resident so I shopped around the various PADI certified facilities and these guys offer the best price on the island. You’ll learn at Airport Beach in Kaanapali, which is a great snorkeling and diving location, and it beats the hell out of a pool any day! Overall I was extremely satisfied and will be going back to them for my advanced diving certifications. Really friendly professional group, I highly recommend them!

Wow! An incredible dive shop! My 12 yo daughter did her training at home but needed to complete the open water part to be certified! We signed her up and fortunately she was the only one in the class so she got one on one dive! I want to personally thank her instructor Will! He was an incredible teacher patient and just a nice good person! He put my fear at bay!
We also want to thank Rich for his kindness!
My husband and daughter (her first certified scuba dive) did a night dive with Will in Blaclk rock and saw incredible things!
Again, Will was watchful over her!
We recommend highly and will be using there service in December!

They have the best instructors and dive guides! I’ve received my open water and Advanced. Our daughter became certified too! Mike was amazing and we enjoy shore diving with him every year!

This staff was quite knowledgeable of all shore diving spots on the West Side. They were friendly, straight forward, easy to deal/​work with & quickly turned our week around! Thank you for the treatment and we wouldn’t hesitate to use them again. Just be sure to check those o-​rings or take your own spares. We had a few little issues over our week of equipment rental! They were wonderful about it though and reimbursed us! Thank you!

Outstanding Dive Shop. I recently took a vacation to Maui and wanted to do some diving. Prior to leaving, I did some extensive research. Yes, we all want to have a great time diving, but safety and being comfortable with whom I was to dive with was the most important thing to me. The reviews for this company were tremendous. When reviewing other shops, I became quite concerned with the safety record and judgment used by the employees of some of these shops.
Everyone at the shop seemed tremendous, however, I spent most of my time dealing with Rich and Major. These two guys are tremendous. Rich is extremely knowledgable and laid back. Major is young and full of energy. Together they make a great team. I had the pleasure of diving with them on four or five occasions. I always felt safe and comfortable and they showed me some great stuff, including some white tip sharks in a cave off of MaKenna landing. Wonderful time diving in Maui thanks to these two guys and the entire shop.
One last note. When I dove with these guys we always a had a small group where the could really give us their undivided-​personal attention and show us great stuff. I cannot imagine being on a boat with twenty or thirty people. This is the advantage of going to a local small shop like Maui Diving Scuba Center. See you guys next summer.

These guys are top notch! I did two separate dives at two locations. It was $ 140 plus tax, you really can’t beat that. The instructor’s name was Will and he was fantastic. We got to see sea turtles, rays, a massive rare sea lion. Will really knew his stuff and was always there with a helping hand. I wish I had a few more days on Maui because I’d do a few more dives. There’s always next time!

Great instructors! Everyone was so nice and professional. This was one of the best dive companies I’ve ever used. I went to Molokini (crystal blue waters and saw a white tip reef shark!) And then went on to Stonewall (Huge beautiful turtles!) Definitely recommend using this company in Maui.

Final father and son project before he’s too old for father and son projects. My plan was to certify before arriving to Maui. I’m glad I didn’t. I saved $, time, and the diving in the cert course is all I hoped for.
Major is a cool instructor. Traches well and relates to young and old.
Website price is full up with no surprises. I recommend going through the epadi online course and testing before your first day. It’s a good program and gets that out of the way before your trip.
We saw 2 turtles and many fish around coral on or first day! Father and son mission accomplished!

Exceptional first experience for me and my husband. We went to the shop to sign up for the open water certification. I recommend that you stop by rather than calling if reserving after arriving in town (if possible) because the shop is like Grand Central Station, at least around 9am and 3pm.
We met John, Rich, Bia, Mike, and Major (in that order) throughout the week and thought they were all wonderful people — very knowledgeable, friendly, laid back, and entertaining (we think John is hilarious).
Mike taught our certification course and is possibly the most patient man on Earth. I felt lucky to have had him as an instructor for my first go-​around — I had only tried snorkeling for one day before we decided to do this. Knew very little about diving except to avoid the bends. Mike made me feel totally at ease by the time we got to the water.

Great shop. My wife and I completed our certification over two days. Mike was great and I would highly recommended him as an instructor. Very reasonable prices and friendly staff.

Although I certified 14-​years ago I needed a refresher course so my bf and I re-​certified and had a wonderful time doing it! It’s likely I’m to return in Aug. to attend an advanced technical course.

Husband and I wanted to try out scuba diving during our anniversary/​birthday trip to Maui. Checked out a few spots once arriving, and decided on Maui Diving Scuba Center. First conversation with Rich provided me easily with all the questions we had. After forgetting to call back and confirm that we wanted to book before they closed at 5pm, Chantelle called us to inquire if we were still interested, which was awesome, because we thought we had missed out!
Arrived at the shop the day of and check-​in was easy and quick. Gentlemen that ran the shop were friendly and kept us laughing. Signed up for an introductory dive since we were only going to be there a few days and prices could not be beat. Cameron was our instructor and he was awesome. Extremely precise, professional and patient; this was definitely something that I needed.
Spent some time on land going over all the basics and what skills we would be required to go over under water before our dive. All the information was very thorough and easy to understand. After a 10 min drive to the beach, we went over everything on land again and proceeded into the water for skill work. Let me tell you… breathing under water is an experience. One I will for sure be practicing, the skill time in the water was not enough for me! That being said, Cameron was extremely patient and probably would have stayed out there all day if needed. Pack and tank a bit heavy on land, but if you are fit, you’ll be fine. Hubby went while I returned to shore, said he had a blast, and was ready to go again right after he returned.
Use this shop for your scuba needs… they will not disappoint!

I’m a big fan of this place! My BF is now PADI certified, thanks to the great crew: Alan, Major and Rich. They were all super nice and helpful and the prices are the best in Maui. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to complete all 4 certification dives due to my own issues with open water diving. I gave it a try though, and Alan (and his wife, Dori) were amazing! They helped keep me calm (or at least as calm as I could be) and were really supportive throughout the whole process. If I could, I would give them 4.5 stars because I sometimes felt rushed with the group class.
TIPS for new divers — if you’ve never done an open water dive, and are looking to get certified, take confined water dive classes FIRST. I was not prepared for the heaviness of the gear (approximately 35 – 45 lbs), walk to shore, and swim to the buoy. Or, if you are willing to spend the extra money, sign up for the semi private certification classes so there will only be 2 of you.

My mom had a surprise for us when my brother and sister came on island to visit… She hooked up with Maui Diving Scuba Center and paid for all four of us to get scuba certified!
We were so stoked, and even more stoked that we had Kevin as our instructor. He made learning so much fun, as his approach is more hands on than just lame bookwork, but we did our share of that to get ready for the exam. He was awesome, and of course we passed the exam with flying colors!
While we were on our 4 dives, he compiled a video of all of us with his GoPro, just swimming around, he even caught some awesome footage of an eel, some fish, and us with a turtle! We all had a blast, and would recommend MDSC any day. Especially Kevin. He made learning all that technical stuff fun.

The lady working here (Chantelle?) was super friendly and helpful. There is also a shop cat that greets folks by laying in the doorway. She (the lady, not the cat) not only set us up with a scuba diving trip, but gave us pointers on great places to visit for snorkeling.
We signed up for the Mala Shark dive which is just a few blocks from this shop and is a beach entry. All their wetsuits are clean and it’s a policy to please not pee in them. :)
The dive itself was awesome — we saw some sharks swimming around and the collapsed bridge makes for really cool underwater structures in which to explore. The divemaster we went with was also very nice and funny. All around a great time.

I have done eight dives with these guys so far because of how incredibly impressed I am with this great shop that John and Bia run.
every time I’ve shopped around, they’ve beat their competitors prices by a lot (especially on certification and specializations).
Their divers and connections are amazing. They’ve gotten me up-​close to everything from white-​tip reef sharks to huge sea turtles, octopuses and squid to several varieties of eels.
And their dive to Mala Pier (sunken) is by far my favorite on Maui.
If you are looking to get certified, you’ll be doing all your learning on a quiet little stretch of sand 20 feet under the water, not in some chlorinated pool. My girlfriend had a blast getting certified through them, and enjoyed a much better experience than she would have in some chlorinated pool (which is great for me since now I have an enthusiastic dive buddy on all our vacations)
What’s more, they give fantastic deals on ANY scuba and snorkel gear if you’ve taken a class through them.
And unlike some other places, you can park in front of the place all day while you are on your dives, free of charge.
Honestly, I wouldn’t go anywhere else on Maui.
