Makai Adventures specializes in small group boat trips. Conveniently based out of Lahaina Harbor, Slip 16. Let’s go! Daily whale watching trips while in season, and snorkeling trips year-​round. Cross the channel and cruise the coast of the beautiful island of Lana’i. Snorkel with turtles, listen to the whales sing, and glide across the water with dolphins. Adventure starts here.

Thank you so much Johnathan and Kevin for such an amazing afternoon out snorkeling around Lanai! Started the day off watching dolphins all around the boat, went snorkeling along the coast of Lanai (saw so many beautiful fishies, lobsters, and octopus) and finished the afternoon eating yummy sandwiches with local Maui produce. Definitely reccomend to anyone visiting the area and everyone looking for a fun way to spend a beautiful afternoon here on Maui. It is a new company run by Ewa and Keau, also so sweet and helpful. Very knowledgable and fun staff! Can’t wait to go out again!

I am very pleased with my makai experience on their Saturday morning snorkeling adventure to lanai’i. The boat ride there and back was an amazing experience. The crew members themselves were very knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. They also provided each member their own snorkeling gear. While snorkeling we witnessed amazing sights of the reef and many turtles. All in all I would recommend this snorkeling adventure for any one visiting or living on this beautiful island. Mahalo

Best snorkeling I’ve been on. The staff, Amy, Eva and Kevin, were all a extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The best part was seeing the turtles! When I return to Maui I will be back to snorkel again with this company!

Loved it… My first time snorkeling… And Kevin took great care to make sure I was comfortable and safe. Great lunch on board… Our Captain Keao was very informative, funny and patient… Stopping when we needed photos or telling the history of certain monuments. Excellent service at a great price.

wonderful experience with Makai Adventures. Had them take us out to scatter my brothers ashes in the ocean. Very respectful and even had extra flowers for me. Gave me plenty of time to grieve and never pressured me to leave when I was not ready. Great weather and even saw a whale even though it was late April. Would Highly recommend this small company. I have to say this trip blew my mind and exceeded all expectations I had. I am a born and raised local so I sort of thought that whale watching tours were only for tourists — man I didn’t know what I was missing! It was a beautiful Maui day and within minutes we were in the middle of a pod of whales. Then we got so close that the whale was literally 10 feet off the bow!!! No joke — definitely the closest you can get to a whale without being in the water. One even spouted right next to us. Our daughter loved it and we got some awesome photos. Iwa and Captain Keao are amazing! Relaxed fun vibe the whole time. Mahalo guys!!!

I did not really want to give a review, however they ask 3 times on the boat and sent an email asking me to. So maybe this will help them grow as a company. First of all the boat was very nice and spacious. We may have been spoiled from the previous whale watching trips we took the day before. The captain spoke very softly and not everyone could hear him. We followed another boat the whole trip and never educated anyone on the whales or talked to us about what we were seeing. We both felt that we wasted our money on this trip and the only reason we saw whales was because the other boat led us there. Maybe next season they will be better prepared to take people out. We wont be going out with them again.

The ocean was angry that day my friends but we felt completely safe and were very comfortable on Makai Adventures vessel. I noticed other boats leaving the harbor with the passengers seated on the pontoon and said to my wife a few times that I was glad we were on this boat. The craft is new and clean with shade and drinking water if needed. The captain Jonathan and Kevin were informative and fun. We had frequent whale sightings and it was delightful to see the calves getting ready to make their journey to Alaska. The Makai Adventures trip was a wonderful experience. Mahalo

Small family run company and it shows. The service was phenomenal from inquiry to booking to the day itself. Great experience with Jonathan and Kevin and while they made sure we saw the whales up close and personal, they also added so much information and knowledge that made it more than just look and see.
On time, safe, competitively priced and a phenomenal attitude. You can see they still love their jobs! Don’t bother with the flashy company’s that do all the expensive marketing. These folks are the real deal.

Great boat, small amount of shade if needed, back support. Jonathan the captain did an amazing job. He was a great spotter and his positioning of boat was spot on for how the whales were moving. Everyone got very good pictures.

If you want professional services, with top quality equipment and small family style feel this is the charter for you! They are polite and knowledgeable and make for a super relaxing and wonderful experience every time I have gone out with them. As others have said clean and comfortable boat, and the captain and crew are all over it! I highly recommend checking Makai Adventures out if you get the chance, you will be thankful you did!

What a great small business! The captain and crew were so accommodating and fun! The boat is spacious and clean. We went to the backside of Lanai’i where we were able to enjoy snorkeling in perfect waters and see the beautiful towering sea cliffs. We got to use their brand new Cressi fins, masks and snorkels which fit great! The round trip ride was adventurous and very comfortable giving us a wonderful opportunity to take in the gorgeous scenery of Maui and Lanai’i. I really like how the boat has a lot of shaded space which made it easy to occasionally get out of the hot sun in between snorkeling with all the beautiful fish. We would definitely go out With Makai Adventure again on our next Maui trip!

Ok, so I normally don’t post reviews, but when i find something great, I wanna share :) I’ve taken quite a few ocean adventure tours throughout my travels and I have to say, Makai Adventures is top tier! Their boat was beautiful and clean. Captain and crew were outstanding! They were very knowledgeable about the area, the sea, the islands. They took us to some of the most stunning spots around Maui and Lana’i to sightsee and snorkel, and I could not have been more impressed with the combination of upscale service/​family vibe. Also, keep any eye out for those pods of dolphins that love to ride the bow waves :)
