I found Mahtab via all these great reviews, and I’m so thankful! She was so friendly, professional, and talented!
I purchased an Oscar de la Renta gown for my December wedding at a sample sale, which magically somehow fit, and then waited until a month before our wedding to start thinking about having some small alterations done. She was able to get me in very quickly and was very honest that all I needed was a bustle added. She did it so quickly and it was SO affordable, I dropped it off at 10 and it was ready by 4pm the same day.
Since my dress was a pretty weighty gown I really wanted something shorter and lighter to dance in for later in the reception. I had ordered a skirt on Etsy and found a gorgeous, delicate white lace dress with sequins and beaded detail online elsewhere, but of course only one size was in stock and it seemed to run large, so when it arrived it was at least a size and a half too large. Again, very last minute I reached out to Mahtab and during the beginning of the busy holiday season she was able to get me in very quickly, and get the dress fitted to me including completely reworking the buttons on the back.
Both looks were beautiful, and I would highly recommend Mahtab to anyone looking for wedding gown alterations!

I found Mahtab on Unilocal and it was absolutely the best discovery I could have ever made. I was definitely on a budget when I purchased my wedding dress and couldn’t for the life of me wrap my head around spending multiple thousands of dollars on a dress I was going to wear once… I purchased my dress online and while it was beautiful in the picture on the listing… it definitely was not what I was expecting when it came out of the box… I ordered it two sizes up from what I am with the intent of having it taken in to fit and when it arrived not only was it NOT two sizes up it was SMALL in all the wrong places! Turns out those two sizes were hidden in the seams. Mahtab did SUCH an amazing job of transforming the dress into something that will be absolutely STUNNING on my wedding day. I couldn’t be happier with it now. I have a lot of friends who are getting married and I 100% will be recommending her to everyone!

I was referred to Mahtab by my wedding coordinator Lisa Simpson. I also had looked on Unilocal ans saw all the rave reviews. Mahtab is professional and personal. She is flexible with her schedule which makes it even more desireable.

Like many other Unilocal reviewers, I also found Mahtab through Unilocal.She did an excellent job altering my wedding dress. Her prices were much more reasonable than what I had been told at David’s Bridal and she kept her promises in regards to date of completion. She is an excellent seamstress and I couldn’t be happier with the result. Thank you!

Mahtab is an artist. She has been doing this for a long time and it shows. She’s a very sweet woman, and she made me feel so special during a time when you’re meant to be treated like a princess. Make sure you contact her early because she’s so sought after that her calendar fills up quickly. You will not be disappointed!

A friend once told me that buying your wedding dress is only part of the final look — the other very important part is finding a good seamstress to complete the dress and really fit it to your body.
Mahtab is that seamstress — she did an excellent job transforming my dress from something «off the rack» to a gown that looked like it was made specifically for me. By the time she was done, the wedding dress fit my shoulders and waist perfectly, and fell to the floor at just the right length — not too short and not too long.
Mahtab is also very accommodating to your schedule and will work with you regarding appointments.
She did a wonderful job and her talent shows in her finished product. I highly recommend her!

I found Mahtab on Unilocal and I am so glad I did. Not only was she responsive, she was also very knowledgeable in her craft! I loved my dress before I got it altered but after I went to Mahtab I was obsessed. She fit the dress to my body and I felt like I had a custom dress. It was perfect and fit me like a glove. She took the dress in to make it smaller but also hemmed the dress. I have no idea how she made it look flawless with my entire dress covered in lace. I am so happy I found her and now my sister is using her for her wedding dress alterations! I recommend Mahtab if you want your dress to be perfect for your big day!

I found Mahtab on Unilocal as well, and my mother and sister have been so amazed/​impressed with my find… best decision of my whole wedding experience (besides the groom!).
I purchased my wedding gown on Craigslist, as I am not one to spend $ 1000’s on a one time use purchase. My gown was OK, the first bride looked very pretty in it, and had my basic measurements, and the price was right… but I never had that «say yes to the dress» moment. Until I got it back from Mahtab!!!
I had gone in months before for an initial consultation. She looked at the dress and told me to call back closer to the wedding date. When I brought it in for the initial alteration she finished it in 2 weeks! When I came in to try it on, my heart stopped! It was like it had been mine and only mine from the start. It fit like a glove!
I left it for 2 more weeks for her to finish the remaining alterations.
My dress is a satin mermaid style dress with rouching on the bodice. To take in the dress at the hips and waist, add a bustle to the organza skirt, and repair the satin buttons in the back, she charged about $ 250 (?). For what I got, to me it was a STEAL!
She works out of her beautiful home in Laguna Niguel, is so prompt in communication, and so sweet. She has a lot of fabulous recommendation from where to get my dress cleaned to my petticoat and shoe slippage!

She was quick to answer. Professional. Got me in and my dress altered in a fee days– granted it fit and only needed minor alterations. Very impressed. And very happy.

I picked up my altered wedding dress from Mahtab last week, and I am thrilled with the alterations! I found Mahtab thanks to Unilocal and contacted her via phone. After telling her what I needed done, she recommended I make an appointment with her once I had my undergarments selected. Once I figured that out, I made an appointment with her for the beginning of Feb. 2015. I needed the following done:
— straps sown to the dress,
— altered under the armpits
— bustle
— eyehook added to the back zipper
At our first appointment, she listened to my requests and made suggestions, such as going for a French bustle instead of a traditional bustle. I went back three weeks later to try my dress on again, and the alterations were perfect. The French bustle looked great with my form fitting lace dress, the darts she added under my armpits removed the gap, and the straps are secure and comfortable.
She has a great eye and I would gladly recommend any of my friends to her. Just know she does get very busy for summer weddings. I have a end of May wedding and I took my dress to her in February. If you know you’re gonna need alterations for a summer wedding, jump on it and give her a call.

Highly recommended. Sweet woman, very accommodating and really cares about you. Gives great recommendations on what to/​not to do to both save time and money.

Mahtab works miracles! I bought my wedding dress at Kleinfeld in New York, and when I brought my dress to Mahtab she said it was almost a perfect fit! I only needed slight changes to my dress at first glance, but once Mahtab started to really check it out we found a major fix. The right side of my dress had a huge bunched up piece of tulle underneath that was making the entire right side bulge out! Mahtab was able to cut out a bunch of it and make both sides even. She also fixed the neckline because it was folded over a bit and you could see down into my dress. She was able to fold it over and sew it without compromising any of the beading!
She also hemmed it to perfection! She is quick, too. I had about 4 fittings since she wanted to make sure it was perfect, each fitting separated by only a couple of weeks. And she is so affordable! I heard people come to her from over an hour away, and even though I was only 15 away, I would’ve driven 2 hours! If you need help with your dress, go see Mahtab!

I can’t give her enough stars she is seriously an amazing alterations professional. She is great at what she does and very personable makes you feel comfortable and happy, which is really important during the wedding planning process! I just had my second fitting and could start crying I love what she did with my dress! I think she’s very reasonably priced and totally totally worth going to see! Mahtab saved my wedding dress. I live in Los Angeles, and originally got my dress altered at place near me. Two weeks before my wedding, the lady in LA said my padding for my built in bra could not go inside of my dress, and had to be tacked on with thread on the outside (even though she originally said it could go on the inside). Needless to say, I was not happy. The padding just looked tacky and cheap!
So I brought my dress to my parents’ house in Laguna, found Mahtab on Unilocal,and called her. She said to bring my dress in on the following day (which was a Sunday) so she could check it out. The next day I brought my dress to Mahtab. She takes a quick look and says the padding can go inside my dress no problem, just give her 10 minutes. When she was done, it was perfect! I honestly can’t thank her enough!

I brought my wedding dress home last night after expert and very reasonably priced alterations by Mahtab. My dress is all lace and she performed alterations perfectly.
Alterations performed:
— lace sleeves were too big, she brought them in and shaped them to my shoulders.
— needed cups put in so that I am able to wear my dress without a bra
— hemmed my lace dress to make it a bit shorter
— bustle put in
Every alteration is perfect. The length is perfect and she kept the perfect integrity of the lace at the bottom. The sleeves now stay up and are perfect, but aren’t too tight that they are uncomfortable. I can honestly say I was concerned how the bustle would look on a lace dress, but it is BEAUTIFUL! It looks like a lace waterfall and it is so easy to bustle the back. The cups didn’t change the shape of the dress at all and now hold in my tatas perfectly.
Service — what a kind lady. She was always cheerful, polite, gave wonderful advice and insight on different options to wear a beaded belt I purchased. She responded to emails and calls quickly which is a huge plus for me. And she only charged $ 300 for all the alterations above! SO reasonably priced compared to dress shops that will gouge you. She even hugged my stressed out mama as we were leaving for the last time with my dress.
Mahtab is a fantastic find and I recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy person to alter your wedding dress.

A couple weeks before my wedding, a friend suggested I try on my dress again, just to make sure it fit. I’d ordered it from J Crew – specifically, this one:
. It had been months since I tried it on. When I zipped it up, it was pretty obvious it needed to be taken in at the waist. I freaked out because I’ve heard horror stories of wedding dress alterations taking weeks and weeks. Thankfully, a friend suggested Mahtab!
First and foremost, she is just the nicest lady. And she’s super calm and realistic and reasonable. She said the alterations were minor and that she’d have it done in a week – for $ 50. Can’t beat that! I just picked up the dress yesterday and it fits so much better and I feel 100 times more confident in it.
She is definitely busy. She works out of her house and there were several other dresses hanging when I was there. If you need major alterations, give her several weeks. Oh, and if you have a J Crew dress, definitely go to her. She says she’s done many J Crew gowns. Such a relief to have someone so skilled!

–She runs her business out of a room in her gorgeous home, so no you are not lost when your GPS takes you to a house.

I was on a tight schedule when i got my wedding dress only 2 months before my wedding date and i emailed Mahtab and she responded very fast and was able to get me in ASAP and get these alterations done! Mahtab altered the length and added a bustle to my wedding dress. She’s very nice and genuine and doesn’t try to sell you alterations you don’t need! I even had my 1 year old toddler with me at all 3 appointments and Mahtab each and every time brought toys into her Alteration room just to keep my little one occupied! Very sweet lady! My dress was beautiful and just the perfect length when she was done, not to mention her alteration costs were cheaper than Jaclyn’s Bridal where i bought my dress from. I bought my gown at a closing Priscilla of Boston in Beverly Hills so I poured over Unilocal reviews to find an alterations specialist that I could trust with the beautiful silk but not charge me a ridiculous mark up.
I emailed Mahtab on 4÷23÷12 about altering the neckline of my gown from modified sweetheart to be a more true sweetheart with a bit of detail, add fabric buttons between the already present crystal buttons and possibly hem the gowns of a few of my bridesmaids in time for my September 21 wedding… not what I would consider a lot of work within a 4 month time frame, right?
Well, apparently all you other brides already booked her up because she wrote me back on 4÷24÷12 saying she was too busy to undertake such a project… even with a 4 month timeframe. I applaud her for a quick reply and for knowing her limits but needless to say I was pretty bummed that I wouldn’t have another Mahtab success story.
On 6÷22÷12 I wrote her again asking her if she had any recommendations for a cleaner to trust to get some shop dust off the hem of my gown and if she had any time to simply take the bust in on my gown. She replied the same day recommending European Cleaners in Orange (
) and told me to get it cleaned before alterations which made me question her a bit because I had always heard you have your alterations done AND THEN get your gown pressed/​clean… it made me think she was sort of in a back-​scratching relationship with this cleaner and I started to feel iffy about trusting her.
I wrote her back on 7÷4÷12 listing the things I wanted altered before the cleaning (zipper repair, button reattachment, hook & eye closure reattachment and a crystal belt sewn on) and she wrote back the same day telling me she was available for a consultation the next day around 4PM.
Something about how previously in April she didn’t have time for me but then 2 months closer to my date she had availability put me off working with her… If my previous desires were beyond her skill, I would have appreciated her honesty more than just saying she was too busy because obviously she was not.
I wanted to support her small business and be another success story but I just wasn’t all that comfortable with her anymore so I never made an appointment to meet with her. Instead I got my simple alterations at a shop nearby my house.
At least she was quick to return emails.
