South Coast Conservatory is the largest dance studio in Orange County. With over 1,300 actively enrolled students we offer a wide range of classes and programs, including competitive teams, musical theater, tumbling, hip hop, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, ballet, adult and pro-​am as well as being home to South Coast Ballet Theatre, Compass Modern Dance Company, and a pre-​professional dance training program. With 8 large dance rooms, marley flooring, and an on-​site dance retail store, Dance Supplies Unlimited, South Coast Conservatory is able to provide outstanding instruction that caters to the needs of each individual student. South Coast Conservatory is where art and training become the total dancer.

History

Established in 1992.

South Coast Conservatory was voted Best Dance Studio in Orange County, been a top finalist in the OC Hotlist since the contest’s inception, and was recently crowned National Champions at MOVE Dance Productions Nationals. Our faculty includes working professional dancers, choreographers and former Joffrey, Bolshoi and Moscow Ballet company dancers. They have trained dancers you see on So You Think You Can Dance as well as winners and scholarship recipients at Youth America Grand Prix. Our students have gone on to work in professional companies, the film and television industry, Walt Disney Entertainment and Cirque du Soleil, to name just a few.

Business Owner

Jena Minnick has over 30 years of dance training and 20 years of teaching and choreography experience. Ms. Minnick acquired South Coast Conservatory in 2002 and since has expanded the school 3 times, increased enrollment by 450% and received dozens of awards. Ms Minnick founded the non-​profit organization, Dance Discovery Foundation in 2009 which supports local dance companies and dance education in public schools. Ms. Minnick has a BS Business and Marketing from Johnson & Wales University with a minor in dance & psychology. She is a Graduate of Casalino School of Ballet in Salt Lake City, UT. She has trained in jazz, lyrical, ballet, classical voice, musical theater, ballroom and modern and has choreographed and directed dozens of large scale dance productions. She has performed with Ballet West, Utah Ballet Company, Saddleback Civic Light Opera, and for the Xtremey Awards. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women and the American Management Association.
