If you’re like me you want to save every penny you can. Which means you’ll probably think twice about getting your car serviced here. Don’t. I have been all over south county looking for the best deal to get my car serviced. After spending extra money on gas & multiple repeat trips just to get it right, I’ve made this my PRS — primary repair shop. Every now & again you may even get a smile. But more importantly, you’re going to get top quality service w/​no short-​cuts, and the integrity that ensures you will not be gauged or double-​talked with a whole bunch of mechanical «Jargonese».

Booked an appointment for my two year smog check and was taken care of right on time. Took around 20 minutes. As my wife and I waited, we watched one of the mechanics help a gentleman whose motorcycle wouldn’t start after filling up for no charge. We were pleased that the gentleman did give the mechanic some money for his time and effort. This is one of the reasons that we only have our car serviced at this station. I’ve never had to bring my car back after any repairs as they are done right the first time!

This is the first time in my life that I have been pissed off enough about something to write a negative review online. I went for a smog inspection. They failed to ask me about the car’s maintenance history prior to the smog test. My car failed, which made no sense as I had a new catalytic converter put into it a year ago.
After they notified me about the fail, I told him I had the starter replaced a few weeks ago and asked if that would have mattered. He then rudely accused me of not telling him about the repair prior to the test even though he didn’t even ask! How the hell am I supposed to know that replacing the starter would have affected the smog computers in my car! Well, after going back and forth I scheduled another appointment for a future date that would allow the car’s computers to reset.
Then, two hours later, the manager called my cell phone accusing me of stealing because I didn’t pay for the failed smog test even though we agreed that they would discount my next visit and I would pay for both at the future appointment. Nightmare. I was fuming. I will never buy gas or go here ever again in my life. Ever. Ever. Ever. Nightmare. Horrible. Rude.

They don’t deserve a single star.
Last week I made an appointment to get my oil changed.
I pointed out I had not reached the milage nor date listed on the inner sticker they leave you with as a reminder to come back.
Ken got in my car, fiddled around. Then let me know it wasn’t the oil. It was an electronic issue. Then quoted me $ 110.00 to tell me what might be the new issue.
I left, only prepared for paying for an oil change. Was Actually Going To Go Back Once I Had The Proper Funds.
My car engine blew up 4 days later.
Turned out there was no oil in the vehicle.
Toyota would like to charge me $ 6761 to fix the damage — all engine, nothing electrical.
I’m out of a car because they are lazy and greedy.
I hope this place goes out of business.

This place deserves 0 stars! Probably the worst customer service! They are super rude here! Take your money somewhere else! There are so many businesses that care and want your business! Avoid at all costs!

I will never use the mechanics at this Chevron station again. After spending over $ 3000 in recommended repairs, primarily to repair engine leaks, this car is now being donated due to the leaks and general engine problems costing more to fix than the car is worth. The repairs were done just over one year ago, and a complete waste of a great deal of money.

They took care of my smog test in the 30 minutes and sent over results to dmv right away. Price was decent, simple enough.

I hope Allen Hoodd’s service is better than his crappy attitude. …Then again it is early in the korning, maybe he hasn’t had his cup of Joe

If you want to get an excellent service this is definitely the pace to go. I got help by Emilio his costumer service was outstanding and the other two guys took great care of my car.

Hopefully the new ownership see this, but they should be aware that skimping on the simplest things that made this station many car owners go to station, is losing them business like me. They no longer keep up their squeegees to wash windshields and instead of windshield cleaner they resorted to just water like most other stations. It does make a difference. May seem like a dumb request but it’s the simplest things that make a business stand out.

I would give it 6… Alan Hood is the most honest professional in a landmine of choices to get your car fixed. .Two years ago I was told by Star Motors I needed MBZ rear differential work ($ 700+)…brought it to Alan… he drove it… and refused to do the work said it wasn’t necessary…2 years later… no issue… their brake work on the benz… was $ 300+…vs.$ 700+ at Star … also .kept my infinity going strong, a true first class outfit thank you so much

Alan and Kent are great! I had a water pump go out on my way to San Diego. They had me going in a few hours.

First time I have brought my car here and the last. They find things wrong with the car and want to rip you off. Kent is very rude. Their rates for labor are through the roof !!!

My family has been coming to his particular gas station since I was a child. I have become friends with most of the core employees Saul, Roxanna, Carmen, Arturo, Sal, Edgar, Tom and Alan. They have always been very helpful, always willing to converse (although sometimes Saul can be slightly irritable) and have offered a helping hand when necessary. I love this gas station and it’s people, they individually embody the heart, soul, blood, sweat, tears and struggle of the working class and Latino and I hold each and every employee with high regard. All of them deserve better yet they still come to work and honestly do their job and people have no appreciation or care. It is a thankless job yet they do it every single day. Quality run organization. Roxanna has awesome customer service skills. Automotive Service is stellar. They stand by their repairs. All new pumps.

We have known Alan Hood for about 14 years now. We never hesitate to go there for things like oil changes, and various repairs to the cars we had over the years. We have found them always honest, pleasant, cooperative to deal with. They send their customer service van out to pick and drop off as well if needed. However, these days things DO happened that can’t be controlled, Only once so far.
We had a new fuel pump fail after it was installed, had to be replaced the next day. Warranty was in force, so no cost to us at all.
Once in fourteen years. That was all. Great place.
Recommended.

I’ve taken my car here before; once for an oil change, and another time I had it repaired. A few weeks ago, my car broke down in the middle of town and I had it towed here. No problem initially, because everyone in the service dept. is very courteous. The problem arose when I got a call from them telling me a major component in my car was «shot» and it would be about $ 2500.00 to take care of it. I made arrangements to have it towed out of there because there was no way I could afford $ 2500.00.
Fortunately, I had the brains to have it towed out to the shop I normally take it to. In no way was that component «shot.» The problem turned out to be an entirely different component altogether, and a much, much, cheaper fix than the estimate Chevron had given me. There is a huge difference between a $ 2500.00 fix and a new fuel pump, which was the real culprit. Deliberate ripoff? Natural mistake from not working on my particular make/​model of car? Lack of familiarity with make/​model/​year of this car? I’ll never know, but I think I will stick with my regular shop, even though it is 25 miles away.
Not too sure I can trust these guys with anything beyond an oil change. Nice guys, very polite, shop is spotless, and convenient shuttle service but not too sure of their integrity after this latest adventure. There was just too much of a difference between what they told me was wrong and what was actually wrong with my car.

Friendly and helpful staff in store, plus fully-​staffed auto repair shop on site for auto needs. The pumps are sometimes crowded … and I’ve seen a couple of fights break out while drivers are jockeying for position (who does that?).

This place is very expensive and communication is very poor. Felt like i was being
sold a bag of goods. Use them as a last resort.
