Island Tan

I wrote a review back in 2011 and loved Island Tan in Laguna Niguel on Crown Valley. Gave it 5 stars. Now its June 2016 and I cant say that anymore. It says you take pride in your long term clientele… then please get air condition and new bulbs for us! it was 100 degrees today! :(The staff there is great! Wonderful girls working in a bad condition… no air condition. Went to air brush this morning and its been 4 hours and I can’t even tell I was airbrushed. That machine sucks but not the person that did it. She’s just working with what she’s got. My favorite bed 2 isn’t the SAME EITHER. The bulbs need changed and oh yeah I mentioned no air condition right! I paid for a month unlimited and will finish it but sadly enough I will not be back anymore. Never thought I would say that. I use to love this place and it use to be great! Again… the manager Tyler and the staff are great people. I feel sorry for them working in the Heat like that… no air condition with tanning beds that needs bulbs replaced. Also feel bad for the customers paying with those kind of conditions! Writing this bad review now makes me sad but people need to know. What happened Manna??? Is this place not your baby anymore? Makes me sad. Not trying to be rude just being honest.

I have to agree with Susan B. and also visited on 6÷19÷2016! I have been coming here for several years for the versa spa which I loved. I also like the staff girls… so helpful and personable… but the place is looking dismal at best. Last week I drove in from Mission Viejo only to be told that both the custom sprayer AND versa spa were broken so drove in for nothing. I called today and spoke with Bridget (who is very nice) and she said versa is still out but custom spray available. Well, I knew immediately I was getting nothing from sprayer. And it took her 5x longer to spray and still no color. She sprayed 2x on front and when I got home… nothing! Some rooms need to be painted, brown towels ratty looking and NO a/​c. Why? Other businesses all had their doors closed with a/​c on. Sad. I will most likely be looking for another salon.

bought a groupon and got a spray tan. Spray tan wasn’t that great and is already fading but the worst thing is they didn’t honor the groupon! Never coming back

I bought 2 spray tans thru Groupon. I used it last Saturday and the wonderful girl Emily was gracious & did a good job. When I returned today for my second tan. Not only did I have to wait and no one answered the phone when I called yo make an appointment. I was told my Groupon was not valid. I just purchased the Groupon on ⁴⁄₂₈. I was embarrassed that I was told that the Groupon would not work & had to get on the phone with the manager named Tyler who was rude to me and implied that she «would be doing me a favor» by «allowing» me to do a custom spray tan. I asked to contact the owner bit someone other than the kind employee Emily told me that I could not have that information. I will never go back to this business and will go to Rockstar on La Paz, Tan Spa on Niguel Rd, or Raw Beauty Day Spa in San Juan where I have Bernie friends have been and have been treated so much better. Shame in Groupon for getting involved with such an unprofessional, horrible business.

My spray tan from here seemed good at first! I even paid $ 5 extra for something that makes your spray tan last a little longer. The spray tan looked good but now it is rubbing off on on my right leg and I didn’t even touch it ! I guess the spray tan doesn’t last nearly as long as it said cause I only got it 2 days ago. so much for paying for the stuff to make it «last longer» honestly people save your money even if you think a spray tan would be good for a vacation it’s better not to risk the crappy residue coming off after 2 days, the part that didn’t rub off still looks nice though!

All of the beds looked good the place was clean and had a nice vibe. I went with the stand up the girl in the front was very nice and helpful told her this was like my third time tanning so she had me go perfect amount of time. I’ll be back!

love this place! Tyler did such an amazing job helping with tanning advice and showing how the machines work. She is so sweet and has the best service ever. We will be back because of Tyler:)

Professional, easy going, clean and comfortable! Good service and so far the tan is looking very nice! I booked through groupon which I highly recommend and would do again!

Have not been tanning for a long long long time, but I wanted to get a base started for the Summer. So, I tried this place. Plus, it helped that they were offering a special for the month. The place was nice, staff was friendly and helpful. I always got in right away. No waiting! The tanning bed was good. However, there was one time towards the end of my monthly membership that the bed was not cleaned properly. After that, I requested to be put in another bed — much better! My membership ended but I would return as long as they were offering a deal!

The staff is friendly but the gold tanning bed is horrible. (They only have one) It dried out my skin and gave me a very uneven tan. I know tanning is never good for your skin but I noticed red and brown spots that I didn’t notice when using the tanning beds at Tuscan tan. The only reason I came here is because I purchased a Groupon for one month of unlimited tanning with the gold package for $ 35. Island Tan uses the Solaris 442 which is made in the USA. Tuscan tan has a $ 50 unlimited package but you get an even tan and with a European bed. Not worth the discount.

I bought a Groupon for this salon, three custom airbrush tans for $ 60. I purchased these airbrush tans so that I could be even for my wedding. I had never had an airbrush tan before, so the first time that I went, I asked a ton of questions. My main question was will it rub off? I explained these were for my wedding, and it was extremely important that it didn’t run on my dress. They said that I would shower 24 hours after the spray, and the shower would remove any excess and then it wouldn’t rub off on anything. I did a test spray for my first session, and it seemed to go well. For my second tan, I went on the Thursday before my wedding. I got married that Sunday, which meant I had showered three times prior to putting on my wedding dress. When I got home from my wedding, I had tanning spray all over the inside of my white bustier, the inside of my wedding dress, as well as the trim around my underarms and bust. I tried contacting the owner for months, but I kept getting the «she will call you back» and never does. I finally explained everything to the manager, and explained that I had pictures of everything, as well as the detailed receipt from my dry cleaner outlining my $ 160 bill, and specifying that the stains on my dress were from a spray tan. I told the manager that I didn’t want the full $ 160, just partial. She said she would discuss it with the owner, but never called me back. I finally got a hold of her again, and she said the owner refuses to pay me anything. I never went back for my third tan that I paid for, and I wasted over $ 200 paying for the tans as well as the cleaning to fix my dress after they ruined it. Beware of these people, they take no responsibility!

I went here to get a good base tan before a vacation to central America. This place is awesome! Very clean, very convenient (be sure to park BEHIND so you don’t have to deal with the drug store parking). In just two weeks, I had a great base tan. Beds were always clean, bulbs were strong and it was always very easy to just call 20 minutes before you came down to reserve your bed. Natti, the front desk representative, was very nice and accommodating. Defintely recommend this place if you are looking to get a good tan at a very reasonable price. The best thing about this salon, compared to other tanning salons, is that they don’t aggressively push the purchase of expensive lotions on you every time you walk in.

Gave me a splotchy and terrible tan. Faded fast. Rude customer service.

So I bought a groupon for this place and have actually never had a spray tan before (shocking) and I had a special event to attend, so I figured why not? The staff was super friendly and sweet and facility was great. My only problem is, my spray tan was way too dark for my natural skin. And my feet and hands came out pretty bad. I do admit I took a shower in the morning to scrub a lot off cause I was shocked at how dark I was compared to what I normally am. If I ever spray tan again, I would go back to Island Tan, but have them totally scale back on the shade. Ugh. No bueno.

Terrific service, the staff is so friendly and helpful. I got eyelash extensions and they are the best quality and look fabulous. Manna and her staff are so attentive. A wonderful locally owned business, every client who walked in while I was gettting my lashes done, the staff knew them by name.

I’ve been tanning at this salon for about 8 years now. Island Tan has had several owners in several years but the current owner, Manna, and her staff have ran it the BEST I’ve ever seen it. It’s always clean, the staff is always friendly, they have always been accommodating, and of course, I always come out tan and happy. Another salon opened up recently by my house that had excellent hours (open till 11pm!) so I tried them out but the service was so horrible and the staff was so young and unprofessional that I wouldn’t care if they were open 24 hours, I would never go back there. I love Island Tan and plan on tanning here as long as it’s runs the way it does now :) If you visit this place, I can guarantee you won’t go somewhere else!!!

I’ve always like Island Tan, but I didn’t realize I LOVED it until I moved from Aliso to Anaheim Hills. They are the best around for Versa Spa! (please, please, please open a location in Anaheim Hills)
What makes them better? 1. They have foot mats so the bottoms of your feet don’t get discolored. 2. They always have barrier cream available. 3. It’s clean and generally a nice place to be. 4. They have great prices. 5. They offer each tanning level (light, med, dark) in clear or bronze. Most places only offer the bronze.
I used to take all of that for granted as industry standard. But turns out… not so much.
If you live in South County, consider yourself spoiled that Island Tan is an option.

This salon is always clean.
It has variety of different of tanning bed and spray tan options as well as lots of lotions for different types of tanners.
The most important part of all is the friendly and knowledgable manager who will answer all your questions– all length! (Believe me, I asked a lot). She cares about her customers and actually looks at your skin tone before just tossing you into any bed that is available. And she does not try to «hard sell» you on an expensive lotion or tanning package.
There usually is not a wait and they do have very cute clothes and accessories in the shop.
