First Choice Carpet & Flooring

We were very happy with our decision to hire first choice carpet. Fred is very professional, and he sold us the best product for our home. He stayed late on the job for our first contact with him and he has followed through with everything that he has promised so far. We love the carpet and hardwood floor that he helped us select.
Francisco was our installer and he and his two man crew were very professional! The stairs look fantastic and they were very clean about everything they did. We have had other work done in our home while we are living there, so we appreciate there on time and professional /​clean installation.
Their price was very competitive versus the other two companies that we also considered

I can’t say enough good about Fred and his crew. Not only did they get our job done quickly. beautifully and affordably, they worked with our painters and crazy schedule when trying to close on our house, as well with our financial situation. I absolutely LOVE the laminate flooring we were able to purchase for the main rooms upstairs! Perfect job and very high quality product. The crew was pleasant, professional and flexible! I had been to several flooring places and First Choice Flooring was without a doubt the stand out best. Looking forward to doing a remodel on our bathrooms with them in the near future.

I have 1000 sq. ft. rental that needed the carpet removed from the 2 bedrooms, the living room, the dining room, the hallway and three closets. I also needed old tile removed from the entryway and linoleum removed from the hallway closet. I had purchased ceramic tile with a «wood grain» appearance to be installed as the new flooring throughout 770 sq. ft. of the unit. Fred’s crew installed this tile over a four day period. They did an outstanding job.
This is the second time I’ve used First Choice Carpet and Flooring and I’m very satisfied with their services. Fred Kashani and his crew are always very thorough and professional. Plus the cost of their service is very competitive and top notch. I’ll will continue to be a repeat customer anytime I need new flooring installed.

Best value for the money!
I was extremely happy with every aspect of my dealings with First Choice Carpet and Flooring. Allow me to share my experience and evaluation of all bidders.
First Choice Carpet and Flooring was one of 4 companies that bid on our new carpet job. The list included: First Choice Carpet & Flooring, Tuttles Carpet One Flooring, Carpet Choice and MAC Flooring (Aliso Viejo). First Choice won based on quality, professionalism, knowable about carpet and installation and price. Only one competitor beat First Choice’s price but failed to show a good understanding of the installation process, e.g., how they stretched the carpet or the how the carpet repeat affects the amount of material to order. This left me with a concerned that their price reflected the lowest cost installer or not enough carpet to ensure our repeats were matched correctly. I do believe you get what you pay for and I caution every buyer to understand the repeat dimension in your pattern.
Fred Kashani is the owner and very good to work with. He is flexible and truly cares about his customers being happy. He is very open and honest and will show you all estimate details as well as his recommendations on quality pads, installation and carpet care. He even gave us a great deal on one of the best vacuums. That’s important because our Dyson vacuum voids the warranty on our Camelot carpet. Francisco is the man on the job and has worked with Fred for over 20 years. Like Fed, Francisco was very open and informative, this guy knows carpets. His crew is flexible, polite and very customer focused. I feel confident that I got the best carpet price, quality and installation. Installation is critical for your investment, do not cut corners or you will have rug problems like the one we were replacing. Lastly, Fred recommended that I shop around and get a few estimates as this was the only true way to be sure about my choice. He was not only correct but the only one who recommended I do this. I suspect he knew from the beginning I would find that he is the best value for price and quality.
How the runner-​ups did:
MAC was more expensive by about 7% higher in price and solid on professionalism but would not share the details of the estimate. That concerned me as I like full transparency in my dealings. Tuttles was 22% higher and although they have a good reputation and were transparent on the estimate, they were just too expensive. Carpet Choice (not First Choice) left me completely unconfident and with a feeling that I was taking a risk on the installation. I could not live with that. Price is not worth having an issue 2 – 4 years later, especially when we were installing good quality carpet like Camelot.

We first went into Fred’s shop probably about 8 – 9 months ago and went back and forth over what we wanted. We took several samples of hardwood and carpet home for several weeks. Fred never once pressured us to decide what we wanted. He was very understanding and patient. We finally had our hardwood installed a month ago and the carpet last week. There are only positive things to say about our experience with First Choice. Fred is an absolute professional and just an overall great guy. He stands by his word and genuinely wants his customers to be happy. We will definitely be repeat customers.

Fantastic service and prices. Needed an inexpensive floor in 3 days. Owner came right to my house, brought samples and bent over backwards to make sure I was happy. They even finished early! And the price was great. Great company.

I had been wanting to carpet my stairs, foyer and bedroom after moving into my home in Dana Point but was concerned about quality and cost until I walked into First Choice Carpet & Flooring. The gracious service I received from Fred and others at the store made me feel as though I were speaking with my own family. Mutual trust developed immediately between both Fred and myself. I was able to take my time looking at samples, asking questions and scheduling a time for my floors to be measured. I then had the privilege of watching the finest carpet installers carefully and skillfully lay down the beautiful carpet I had chosen. I have already recommended First Choice Carpet & Flooring to my family and friends, and am happy to write this review without hesitation. When I am ready to begin my next home improvement I will surely call Fred.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The original flooring place we were going to use just up and disappeared on us when we were in a major time crunch to get things done. Miraculously, my mom came upon this company on Unilocal and decided to use them herself and also had an amazing experience which is why my fiancé and I decided to use them as well.
The owners, Fred and Miriam, are so nice and pleasant to work with and they went above and beyond to get all of our materials in on time and to schedule services before our move in date. Fred also made sure to answer all of my annoying questions via email or phone no matter what day or time it was. His team completely redid our downstairs flooring with beautiful hardwood floor (that his wife helped us pick out), and redid the whole upstairs in the most comfortable carpet I ever put my feet on. :)
I don’t post reviews often on Unilocal,but First Choice Flooring definitely deserves much recognition so more people can be as happy as I am with the outcome. Fred’s team worked quick but precise and clean. There was not one problem with the end result. And to make things even better, Fred was able to schedule the last bit of services ahead of schedule so we had 2 full extra days to move in and work on our house since the flooring was done. Please go check them out, you won’t be sorry!

Fred and his team are great. I priced a couple of places, and Fred was the most inexpensive and he offered the best customer service by far. Plus, I think it is always best to support small local businesses when you can. My experience was top notch with First Choice Carpet (FC) as they did what they said they would do when they said they would do it. The carpet looks great, and they even did a small extra side job (laying some laminate for us in our laundry room) for the cost of the material at the final moment. I would HIGHLY suggest Fred and FCC to anybody looking for flooring in the South OC area. You can not beat this kind of old fashion honesty and customer service. A true breath of fresh air.

The next step was a breeze and the installers were professional and skilled. All things considered this was a great experience.

FIRST CHOICE IS OUR FIRST CHOICE FOR CARPET (among other services)!!! Being that I am a frequent Unilocaler, I often rely on Unilocal reviews to make decisions on places to eat, companies to use, places to shop, etc. The reviews for Fred and his wonderful establishment don’t lie as we had one of our best experiences in home improvement with First Choice! Not only were his carpet choices of much higher grade than those (comparatively) at Home Depot or Lowes, the quality of work when the carpet was installed exceeded our expectations by a longshot. We chose a diamond pattern type of carpet with medium padding, and are very happy with it. Unlike when we had other carpet estimates done, we felt no pressure whatsoever from Fred, and in fact, even learned a thing or two about carpets. They do other home improvement services, such as remodeling and upgrading. We will definitely go to First Choice when are ready for that! For the most stress-​free, high quality products/​work… choose First Choice!

Fred (showroom) was a pleasure to deal with, very helpful with materials and budgets. He managed the installation from beginning to end which can be invaluable at times. We have experienced plenty of good front end guys in the past that hand you off once we «signed» even worse when their install crews are no good. HOWEVER, our carpet installers Francisco along with his brother and nephew were terrific. Professional at every level; attention to detail, punctual, articulate, courteous along with neat and tidy. A pleasure to have doing work in your home, completely exceeded our expectations. The tile guys were awesome too!

5 years ago I hired Fred and his team of contractors to completely remodel my master bathroom which was not an easy job and was absolutely beautiful once completed. So when my wife and I recently decided to replace our floors with hardwood and marble Fred was the first and only call we made. Once again Fred and First Choice exceeded our expectations and the final result was stunning. His team of workers are very reliable and very detailed ensuring a quality job. Fred made getting floors replaced in my new condo easy and inexpensive. The price was right and the job done perfectly.

Today my kitchen floor and entryway were installed by First Choice Carpet & Flooring and I’m ecstatic! When I first phoned them, Fred made an appointment to come over with his right-​hand guy, Manuel, to help me decide the type of flooring that would be best for the kitchen. That floor had some challenges and had been tiled long ago. We decided on laminate and installation went smoothly and without problems or drama. Just the way I like it. It looks fabulous! My neighbors have been over to take a look and they love it, too. Fred has already phoned to thank me for my business and to be sure I’m a satisfied customer. He also said to phone him if I gave ANY questions at all.
I tried two other contractors as well. The first one just didn’t seem to be confident in his ability to guide me in this uncharted territory. The next one didn’t return my call. I phoned him again 3 days later when he apologized and made an appointment for later that day. He never showed up. Just FYI, his location is directly across the street from Costco in San Juan Capistrano. Stay away.
Back to Fred and First Choice. He believes in service and satisfied customers. I’m so glad I found him!
