My son has been seeing Dr. McIntosh for over 3 years for seizures. From our very first appointment with him, I was totally comfortable. He has always taken time to talk to me about things and never rushed me. He is very knowledgable and I always left our appointments knowing exactly what the plan was. Although my son has outgrown his seizures and we are hopefully on our last leg of this journey, I am thankful for the care he has received under Dr. McIntosh these past 3 years and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Andrew McIntosh came highly recommended to us. I was impressed with the efficiency of the office staff and the thoroughness in which Dr. McIntosh evaluated my son. After evaluating him, he had a plan and set it in motion and he was great at listening. I was also grateful for the receptionist who quickly scheduled my son after hearing about the symptoms he was having. Instead of us having to wait two months, she fit us in the next week.

I really loved this Doctor. I feel a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. We came to visit Dr. Mcintosh for child migraines and ADHD and I feel confident in our plan for the future. He gave a thorough evaluation and good future plan. My son also commented on how awesome this doctor is and how Dr. Mcintosh listened to him.

My daughter had her first appointment with Dr McIntosh yesterday! Two of her current doctors recommend him, so we made the hour and half drive. I didn’t have high hopes… we typically leave a Dr appointment with no answers, no plan and lots of tears.
Yesterday was the first time any Dr had given us any hope! Dr McIntosh, was thorough, kind and most importantly had a plan to start helping our daughter! He was not rushed and spent as much time as we needed to answer any questions.
No, he does not take PPO insurance, but I don’t care! You will pay any amount of money if someone can actually help your children! I will continue to pay out of pocket and drive the hour and a half, because it is beyond worth it!
If your on the fence about taking your child to see him… just do it! You will not be disappointed

What a blessing to have found Dr. McIntosh so close to home. Even If we lived hours away I would still be driving to see him for my six year old son. Our first visit today was wonderful from start to finish. The ladies in the office are kind, helpful and very friendly, not just on the phone but in person also. They make you feel so welcome in the office! Dr. McIntosh is just so amazing. He has a gentle, kind and loving manner. He was amazing with our son and with us (the parents) as well. He has an incredible understanding of children and it shows in everything he does from evaluation to diagnosis and explaining in clear terms the steps that need to be taken next. I can’t stress enough how wonderful Dr. McIntosh and his office staff have been. What could have been a very anxious time for all of us turned out to be a beneficial and wonderful experience.

Dr. McIntosh is the best there is! We started noticing some issues with our daughter and after looking at hours of scary reviews I came across Dr. McIntosh. The reviews calmed my anxiety but those only go until it meets reality. And the reality turned out that the reviews were all true. The office staff was everything you would want from an office staff. They were efficient, friendly with not only myself but with my daughter and my son. So I called to see how it would be to make an appt. I told one of the office staff what was going on and where I lived. It was a little distance away. She asked me some questions which showed she was on top of things. Then she asked if she could check with the doctor. She came back and she said he wanted an EEG done right away. They had their tech come in special for my daughter the next day. The EEG was done with ease and the tech was visibly skilled at what she did. When I had first gotten there with my kids the doctor came over and asked if this was Emma sweetly with a smile towards her and then introduced himself by his first name only! I was totally blown away. The next day we came in to see him and he was already fully versed in the results of the EEG. He sweetly told my son and daughter that he was going to take mom and dad into the other room to talk to them but everything is good. It’s no big deal. He sat down and discussed in detail how the brain works as far as the results of the EEG and what our results were. We asked questions and he talked with us like he was sitting in our house with no other appointments in his day. It so allowed me to hear what he was saying and to think of what questions to ask. We weren’t rushed at all. He answered many of my many questions before I even asked. He then asked if there was any other questions. He then brought Emma into the room and spoke with her. My daughter is shy with strangers but he was so sweet with her talking directly to her. I could not believe this type of doctor still exists. When it’s a doctor for your kids, you can’t think of having anyone that is not top of the line. Well Dr McIntosh is the best of any doctor I have ever met and I have seen many doctors with myself and my parents. He and his staff should get awards for how they treated us. So I will be posting this review anywhere I can find a spot!

We love Dr. Macintosh and his whole staff. Very supportive and friendly. Dr. Macintosh treats each child like his own, his care about their well being is awesome. Very happy

My kids have been patients of Dr. McIntosh since 2007. He has been diligent and compassionate, and alway available if needed in an emergency. I highly recommend his practice to all those in need of a great pediatric neurologist!

He has made an incredible difference in my kid’s life, recommending so many alternatives to medication but keeping in mind that meds can be the best choice. Fortunately for us the holistic methods are effective, but he will find the best treatments for each INDIVIDUAL child, using every tool available.

Like many parents, I was hesitant to take my son to a neurologist and have him formally diagnosed. I thought it was something he’d grow out of. «He’s all boy», «he’s got a lot of energy», or «he’s just emotionally immature» were the common comments. When I look back and compare him to my other younger children, there was/​is definitely something noticeably different about him. It started as an infant. When you find yourself exhausted from your child or constantly embarrassed by their behavior, maybe constantly saying, «no, stop, calm down, and relax» then you need to seek outside help. When you’ve tried everything under the sun from diet change, organic, supplements, oils, gluten free, oxygen treatments, allergy testing, and prayer and nothing is helping, you need to seek outside help. When school and homework is a challenge (ends up in tears and tantrums) or their peer relationships are affected, you need to seek outside help. That’s what we did by second grade. Luckily the 2^nd grade teacher did have special needs children of her own. She knew I pushed against the idea of medication. When the teacher is in tears and offers to pay for the evaluation by a neurologist, then it’s a big deal!
Fast forward to the first eval. Dr. McIntosh has an awesome «bedside manner». He’s patient with the kiddos and really guides the parents to a conservative start on medication, should you choose that route. Our diagnosis is ADHD and Anxiety. After a school year of trying a few different medications and dosages, my son’s reading level jumped 400 Lexile points (two grade levels), he soared in sports because he was able to focus, and I received nothing but great behavior reports from the school, coaches, and other parents.
We still adjust the medication here and there, but have found a routine that’s working for us now. A medium dosage in the morning and small dosage 30 minutes before homework or sports. There’s also 3mg of melatonin at night and a non-​processed/​low sugar diet. There are still outbursts and school issues here and there, but nothing that’s not manageable. We have also finally earned honor roll at school. Yeah!!!
I hope this review helps someone. You owe it to your child to do what you can to help them succeed. Ignore the negative talk from your own parents and neighbors regarding medication. You’ll come across the naysayers, but you’re the one raising the child. You’re paying for their education and raising them up to be a respectable person. You’re the one dealing with the tantrums, hitting themselves, and school issues. You have the final say and wanting what’s best for them is always a win-​win!

Dr. McIntosh is a wonderful doctor, and very good with our 14 year old son, diagnosed with Aspergers and ADHD. He takes the time to listen to my concerns, and is so knowledgable in his ability to describe different meds and help choose the best ones for our son. I am thankful to have him as our sons doctor.

Dr. McIntosh and his staff are wonderful. My family came up from San Diego for an evaluation. His office is warm and inviting, and there are so many wonderful toys for the kids to play with while they are waiting for their appointment. Dr. McIntosh spent about one hour with my wife and I discussing our concerns before he even looked at our son. What a wonderful caregiver!

Dr. Andrew Mcintosh is a pediatric neurologist who is extremely knowledgable in his field. My son was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome and ADHD soon after moving here to California. We worked together to get his type and dosage of medicine correct. He referred us to the best professionals to service my son. We both enjoy our visits with the doctor and leave feeling good about ourselves and have a positive outlook towards the future, a true gift. Although we no longer live in the OC, we still continue and make the trip to Laguna Niguel.

My sister and I were diagnosed with epilepsy 4 year ago and have been coming to dr. Mcintosh since them. We had really bad seizures, and thanks to doctor Mcintosh, we are seizure free now! We are on medication and can live life to the fullest thanks to him! GREAT doctor! I trust him with young kids who really need help.

Excellent experience with Dr. McIntosh and his office staff. We had a short wait to get in to see the doctor. Once in his office he spent time to find out why my 15 year old was getting headaches. We left with a full course of treatment and follow up. My daughter left feeling like we’ll finally get to the bottom of her pain. I would highly recommend Dr. McIntosh.

I gave the doctor three stars for two reasons. 1 they won’t bill your insurance (you have to) 2 after charging you a ridiculous amount of money to spend a half hour with you and your child, they send you to a lab then charge you again to read you your results (something that could have easily been approached differently by the doctor). My experience is only one though, so just ask questions about what you’re going to be billed for each time you visit.

Great neurologist! My 20 yr old developmentally disabled daughter has seizures, and our primary care physician recommended Dr. McIntosh. He takes plenty of time to review our situation, asks plenty of questions and provides great feedback. He is also willing to listen to our input, regarding keeping medications to a minimum, due to side effects. Appts are on time. And, he has in-​house testing. Clean office and very friendly staff. Great experience, every time, total of 6 – 8 visits over the years.

The office staff and Dr McIntosh himself are great. He spends time with each patient and is great. I wish their health insurance could be more flexible as the doctor’s time is very pricey.
I really enjoy the staff there. They are equally helpful on the phone as they are in person. Had a question regarding my health insurance coverage. After some phone tag, and every call returned by them, they were able to answer every question and leave me satisfied.

My son and I have had a great experience with Dr. McIntosh. Dr. McIntosh has made a great plan for my son, who is on the Autistic Spectrum, that has been helpful for him and me as well. I feel like he spends enough time with my son engaging him and listened and answered my many questions. His website is very informative as well. The videos he has on Autism Spectrum, ADD, etc. are a nice resource to check out to learn more.
