History

Established in 2006.

Zounds was founded by Sam Thomasson, an Engineer and entrepreneur who has spent his career developing new technologies in the medical device and consumer electronics industries. Sam is also the father of a hearing-​impaired daughter and has witnessed the problems associated with today’s hearing aids. Sam promised his daughter that he would develop a hearing aid to address the key problems common with other high-​end hearing aids. Zounds’ breakthrough technology is the fulfillment of a father’s promise to his daughter and the solution for dissatisfied hearing aid users around the world.

Zounds utilizes a combination of internally developed and exclusively licensed technology from Acoustic Technologies, Inc., where Sam Thomasson is the founder and former CEO.

Zounds’ goal is to offer a portfolio of hearing aids and wireless devices that provide the world’s best performing technology at an affordable price to anyone with a mild, moderate, severe, or even profound hearing loss.

Zounds of Laguna Hills is owned and operated by Ken Post. Ken is a former electronics engineer who spent 6 months looking for a business he could be passionate about. Ken was attracted to Zounds by the rapid growth Zounds has experienced, the state-​of-​the– art product line, and the outstanding pricing. He was also attracted by the demographics of the senior population and the opportunity to put the first Zounds California franchise in the beautiful community of Laguna Woods. He also liked the idea of helping seniors improve the quality of their lives through better hearing. Ken understands the lasting psychological and physical damage such as depression, isolation, loneliness, loss of thinking ability, and early onset of dementia if hearing loss is left untreated. Ken is enjoying providing an excellent hearing experience to the residents of Laguna Woods and Laguna Hills.
