I have HMO insurance and went to The Dental Office On Red Hill, because it had the best review I could find using my HMO. They told me have gum disease and that I need two root canals and a filling done that with my «insurance» that it would cost over $ 5,000. In the chair they brought in a sales lady in showing me what it would cost as I felt pressure to hurry with the procedure as if my teeth were going to fall out. It was traumatic.
I came to Dr. Stan Kimball for a second opinion, knowing he doesn’t take HMO insurance, I just needed another opinion. Dr. Kimball told me my gums are fine and that I do NOT need any root canals! Saving me a TON of money! He just diagnosed my teeth as they should be without any upscales. He was very comforting and calm. I feel very vulnerable and uncomfortable at the dentist and it was nice to feel comfortable and calm for a change. I felt as a patient, he truly had my best interest at heart like he would a family member. Finding a dentist you can trust is almost as hard as finding a good mechanic!

This is what I’ve learned about HMO «insurance», it’s just part of a large marketing plan. When signing up for HMO, you are then required to go to a select group of dentists, and these dentists are usually part of a large dental group such as «Modern Dentistry». They offer free cleanings as part of the plan, therefore you go into their extremely new updated offices and have a nice cleaning. However, when the «sales lady» comes in, it goes all wrong. It seems most Dentists will over diagnose, this helps make up for high overhead to cover the cost of everything that impressed you when you first walked in. Dr. Kimball might not have the newest equipment, however I find this comforting. Knowing he doesn’t have a ton of overhead to pay for, helps me trust that he’s just going to diagnose and charge me for what’s needed, always having my best interest in mind. It’s simply about fixing teeth and keeping them healthy.
So remember, typically the cheaper the dentist the less quality of work and more likely to over diagnose. Dr. Kimball isn’t the cheapest; however, I do feel he’s a good honest guy that wants to take care of me by spending more time on my teeth doing a quality job and is defiantly worth it!

Dr. Kimball is one of the best dentists around. He is extremely friendly, kind, and cares for each one of his patients. His staff is also amazing and great to work with. Dr. Kimball and his staff are knowledgeable in their work and always make their patients feel comfortable. The office is also clean and enjoyable to be in. I highly recommend this dentist to all those in the area!

Have no clue what the other reviewer is talking about. Maybe she is used to going to cheap clinics for dental work — who knows. I have been going to this office for almost 20 years. I saw Dr. Berger at first and when he retired, I started seeing Dr. Kimball. He and his staff are nothing but the best — friendly, kind and professional. They do not overbill or overcharge. I’ve never had a problem with insurance paying for covered items or the percentage that is covered. Anyone should know that it totally depends on the insurance carrier you have and the type of coverage YOU pay for. If you’re concerned about whether or not something is covered, you can always get a predetermination of benefits before proceeding. I highly recommend Dr. Kimball and his capable staff.

Be very careful. this office overbills. If you exceed your insurance limit for dental work on your insurance (like I did) they then charge you an exorbitant amount for the uncovered expenses. They did this with me more than once, which is why I felt compelled to come on here and rate them. They overcharged and overbilled me on my own dental work and also when they treated my young daughter. I would NEVER recommend this dentist to anyone… the experience was more than just unpleasant.
