I bid on Lorin’s Beach Portrait Session at a charity auction. So glad I won! From start to finish, it was a great experience. Setting up the appointment, the photo shoot with our family, sitting down in his office to choose our portrait package and picking up our portraits — everything was perfect. Lorin even emailed us the photo we wanted to use for our Christmas card before the rest of our package was ready. Lorin’s artistic eye and ability to clean up the photos is amazing. He truly loves his work and is passionate about his photography and customer service.

We enjoyed very much working with Lorin. He is a fantastic photographer and has a great eye for what looks good. He is also extremely savvy with Photoshop and can ‘clean’ up blemishes, switch expressions etc easily. The entire process from the photo shoot to picking and choosing the photos, to receiving the beautiful prints, one of which was in a gorgeous frame, was flawless. He even noticed a tiny scratch on the frame, which I may not have noticed, but he returned it and had it redone. He is a perfectionist. We enjoyed working with him very much and recommend him highly to anyone who wishes to have a beautiful photo.

Our whole family was very hesitant about using a professional photographer but as soon as we met Lorin Backe we were all very pleased we choose him! He was very punctual in returning calls, texts, and e-​mails. He is very friendly and someone you feel like you have known for years when meeting him. He is a true professional, whom is very knowledgeable about photography and wasn’t pushy on selling you more pictures than what you wanted. He is someone we will now use every year to take our family pictures and we are thankful we found him!

My wife and I became acquainted with Lorin Backe photography through a charity auction purchase we had made. Scheduling our photo session was easy, convenient and we looked forward to the appointment. As we were familiar with the location, meeting Lorin was no problem, we introduced ourselves and moved downed to the beach on what was a beautiful Southern California evening. Lorin was well prepared and knew what he wanted to accomplish. He had us in several posed positions with different backgrounds and anticipated lighting changes, to get the most out of the session. He was very confident that we would be happy with the results and he was so very right. When we met later the same week to review the photos at his studio, he was organized and walked us through an organized process to help us choose the shots we liked most.
The next time we met him was to view the finished product and we were indeed pleased; but it’s after a close friend of ours commented that Lorin «caught the best of of both of us» in his work that prompted us to provide this review.

Our first professional photography experience with Lorin Backe turned out very well indeed. Our family portrait included 9 month old twin grandbabies. It was challenging at the end of the day with the babies, but was important to obtain the best late afternoon lighting. Lorin Backe created a great photo for our family, which we will cherish.
Lorin Backe is extremely professional, very talented and a pleasure to work with. We will no doubt get another family portrait taken by Lorin when the grandbabies are a little bit older, to mark the passage of time.

We just adore our pictures from Lorin Backe! He knew just how to pick the right location, position us perfectly and he worked with our dogs too! Lorin has great photo options and is so easy to work with! We have found our forever family photographer!!! Thanks Lorin for making us look so beautiful!

We had our family portrait taken by Lorin. We were very happy with the quality of the work he did for us. Lorin is meticulous from the photo session to the final photoshopping and refining of the pictures. Unlike some previous professional photographers we had tried, Lorin is extremely picky about lighting and had us arrive to the beach (he specializes in beach settings) at a specific time to catch the best light and didn’t start shooting pictures until he thought the light was perfect. Considering we had two small children in freezing cold weather, he was very patient and kept readjusting the positions of our bodies. His attention to body position really makes a difference in how the shot comes out. All this perfectionism means that he doesn’t take hundreds of shots but rather a few dozen — but since his shots are really good, you don’t have to spend hours sifting through hundreds of photos either! He was incredibly detail oriented about the airbrushing techniques so that we looked picture perfect and he also does the custom framing himself too. He’s not cheap but you will be very happy with your portrait.
