Melrose Place

We were walking around Laguna for the first time in a good 5 years and wandered into this store after seeing a nice selection of shirts in the window.
When we went in we were greeted by Brittany, a knowledgeable salesperson without being overly pushy. We schmoozed with her and an older gentleman who was also working at the store and had a very good feeling about the store, contrary to some of the comments on Unilocal from other shoppers.
The quality of the merchandise is strong, and if you interact with Brittany you’ll walk away with a positive experience as well as nice shirts.

This store rocks !!! The fashion shirts and jeans… wow!!! My boyfriend and I ere walking by and saw the great shirts and decided to go in. We were greeted by Tania– great person, very knowledgeable about fashion. It was hard to choose which one to get, there were many great pieces to choose from. My boyfriend bought 4, and I got 1 for a Father’s Day present. Will definitely recommend it to our friends and will come back often to buy more !!! Great place to visit!!! and Tania rocks !!!

Not only does this company have great looking fashions, but they have the greatest salesman in the history of men’s clothes… Eddie. You have not shopped until you have shopped with Eddie as your fashion whisperer (actually, he’s a lot louder than that!) Eddie has sold me the best shirts, jackets and jeans I have ever owned and picked them for me instantly. I am a 51 year old guy who likes dressing in younger fashions than most men my age, but being very cautious not going too far and looking ridiculous. Eddie knows how to have that balance and never pulls out stuff that I dislike. Eddie is high energy, high speed, high theatre and not everyone’s cup of tea, but he is THE reason I shop in this store. Eddie, Eddie, Eddie! If you shop in the small but well stocked men’s hip clothing store, you will most certainly leave remembering Eddie. Eddie will not be for everyone as his high energy, jokes and enthusiasm might be considered by some as over the top, but in our case we enjoyed the experience. He is quick, efficient and he is great with men who need some help putting sharp outfits together. My husband jokingly said it is like Garanimals for adult men. In about 20 minutes my husband bought 4 pairs of jeans, 4 soft layering tees, one beautiful leather jacket, a sweater, a few sharp button downs and two belts. My husband was happy but exhausted. Now he understands shop til’ you drop!

What a fun men’s store! I went in there with my brother to help him choose some shirts for a wedding that we are attending at the Montage tonight. Tania was super nice, and suggested shirts that were within our price point. She even found him nice black slacks to wear with the shirts. My brother is super picky, and the salesgirl was very patient with us. Definitely wish there was a store like this in the city!

The owner will stalk you in the street like some Times Square three card monty carnie begging you to come into his store. And when you keep moving, he will insult you. What a complete jackass. Don’t just avoid this place, avoid the entire south side of Forrest Ave.

The Owner/​Proprietor flagged us off of the street as we were passing by, it was to our benefit. The:
1) Items in the store were top rate
2) Service was incredible. Yes, it was because they wanted to sell something, but isn’t that what a store is about?
3) Owner/​proprietor was not only attentive, but very skilled.
My husband purchased:
* two pairs of jeans that fit perfectly
* shirts
* shoes (He never would have purchased if I had twisted his arm!)
Melrose Place carries many of the labels/​brands sold in other stores. However, we prefer to patronize local stores that can provide the kind of service we experienced at Melrose Place.

You either love him or you hate him, but one thing for sure… Eddie knows men’s fashion and how to select the perfect fitting/​style shirt or outfit for a guy. If your desire is to get clothing that looks hot on you AND you have a fun sense of humor, then this is the place! Otherwise, shop at Macy’s for ordinary clothing and nobody will bother you.

Be prepared to be insulted by Eddie. Like a street vender in Greece this guy won’t leave you alone.

Eddie and Melrose Place have completely transformed the style in my dress that had been lurking beneath the surface for years. I visit this store on every trip to Laguna Beach and have for the last five years. Yes, Eddie can be an acquired taste as some other reviews attest, but trust me, he knows his men’s fashion and will make some amazing recommendations if you’re open to suggestions and willing to let him do his thing. Don’t go in expecting to «browse around». You will leave spending more than you planned and will look fantastic as a result. Isn’t that what we all want from a men’s boutique in Laguna Beach?

I am surprised this place doesn’t have more reviews! Every time I am in Laguna I am sure to stop by this place to grab stuff for my brother. I live in Beverly Hills so the commute is only about an hour — and Melrose place is one of my first stops. While I am enticed to go in because of the great costumer service (the bald guy Eddie is just fantastic), I love the clothing and always find such great birthday presents for friends! I would definitely recommend checking this out if you’re in the area!

Honestly, not sure how this place is still even in business. I am pretty sure that half the reviews about this place are fake and entered by the owner.
My friends and I were walking by this this so called men’s store when the owner «Eddie» starts yelling for us to come into his store. Not interested, he proceeded to throw insults instead. Mind you were were on the side walk of the street in Laguna Beach minding our own business.
Guy is real piece of work and needs to go to business school to see how to market and attract customers. Be warned and stay away from this place!

Wow, walking into Melrose Place my wife and I were immediately greeted by Eddy. A gregarious, bubbly character. Probably the best description of him would be «the Bodacious one» Not only did he sell me a fabulous shirt but also an awesome wrist watch, which I ordered from «shopnbc​.com» what a guy. You meet him and you won’t forget him. What a fireball! After recovering from a five week triple by pass surgery he had us dancing in the store. Thanks again Eddie from another guy named Eddie. You are awesome!

The bald guy working there on 8÷17÷13 was so obnoxious and rude, I wouldn’t buy anything from him.

Eddie, the owner, is terrific with customers and he has a large selection of classic and fashionable casual shirts and large selection of belts. I bought a James Campbell shirt that looked like classic Hamilton 1883 — at ¼ the price and no waiting six months! Eddie is a salesman. I did not need a shirt that day.

Had lunch today at Sun Dried tomato with my boyfriend, and finally went into Melrose Place. All my friends kept ranting and raving about this crazy salesman in there named Eddy. Yup, he is pretty fun, crazy and really knows alot about fashion.
My boyfriend walked out with 2 pairs of jeans, 3 shirts and new shoes – he knew exacty what to show him and I can’t believe he managed to sell my boyfriend so many things!

It’s difficult to write something about an apparel store… so I’ll just throw a shout out to our salesman, Eddie.
I took my girlfriend for a weekend in Laguna Beach and somewhere during our stroll along 700 art galleries we paused at a small men’s clothing store called ‘Melrose Place.’ Before we could get within a few feet of the entrance we were greeted by the clone of Eddie Palermo of the Best Little Chapel in Vegas. With arms open wide and in his best Mediterranean accent he shouts «Welcome to Melrose Place! Home of the finest clothing in Laguna Beach!» Honestly, I can’t remember exactly what he said at the entrance, I was mostly just surprised to meet a retailer with this much enthusiasm for apparel. That, and I almost believed his accent. Even more surprised (because I had already made mental comparisons to the Eddie character from Hangover) that his name was, in fact, Eddie… It seemed that he was a local favorite since, on several occasions, people walkin by the store would shout «How’s it going Eddie?! How’ve you been?!» He knew many of those passing patrons by name as well, AND their previous purchasing.
Long story short; He was extremely helpful with our shopping, he was very gregarious, funny as hell and personable. And he put Billy Mays and Vince the ShamWow guy to shame in salesmanship.
I was impressed. I wouldn’t have cared to write anything about this place if it wasn’t for Eddie making an impression
«A+» for effort on making a big sale Eddie, but I just needed one shirt and experiencing Laguna had more priority in our budget then a new wardrobe. As much as you made me want to spend Six or Seven hundred dollars on some great stuff. I’ll be back on my next trip to get a new pair of MEKs and that striped shirt.
Oh, and the selection and prices were good as well
