Came in for a late lunch today. We sat at the bar and had excellent service! We both had the pulled pork. Thought the flavor was awesome although I found it a little dry. Had to use a lot of sauce(the sauce was very tasty!) Overall not a bad experience. Looking forward to trying the brisket next time Hubby said the fried Okra and Mac & Cheese were awesome!

Nothing particularly special. My waitress was very nice and recommended the pork fries, which I got. I also had the pork sandwich and macaroni and cheese

The service was fine and the place looked very clean. I think these ribs are better than those at Country’s, but the appetizers probably came straight from the freezer and into the fryer. I will be going again to try some more dishes.

I was visiting the area on other business with my wife when someone said we should try this place for lunch. It was on the way back to the exit before we headed home so we decided to give it a try. A few disclaimers: 1. I’m Southern and have eaten BBQ all over the southeast. 2. I held a memorial when a BBQ place of three generations closed it doors. 3. I can debate mustard, vinegar, and molasses based sauces merits on specific cuts of meat with various cooking methods. 4. Most chain BBQ while edible is woefully sub par(ie. Shane’s, Sonny’s, etc) Bottom line I’m serious about enjoying good BBQ. That said this place is approximately 40 miles from my house, however I fully intend to become a somewhat regular. Hog Heaven smokes and cooks on a brick pit BBQ while maintaining a classy yet casual atmosphere. They have a full service bar on site as well as a generous patio space. Their lunches feature their regular menu of BBQ and kitchen dishes as well as a rotating Red Rooster Buffet(M-F 11a~3p only) that features plate service typically a meat and two sides. The meats can be home made fried chicken, catfish, beef tips, roast beef, just about anything you can imagine from a Southern kitchen which is the same story with sides: mac cheese, collard greens, corn bread, corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, etc. Dinner is the same dine in menu with specials, minus the buffet, but that’s when a full service bar and patio can really come into their own. The patio features it’s own fire pit, I’m sure a early spring or fall evening next to this with a cold beer or cocktail would be quite pleasant. Our waitress was name Lu, ‘Lu Baby’ by the name tag. She was super quick, pleasant, and knowledgeable about the menu. I went with a brisket plate, brunswick stew, and collard greens(from the buffet but allowed!). My wife had the pork plate, pulled, sweet potato fries, and the brunswick stew. We are kinda of brunswick stew snobs but Hog Heaven put us in our place it was savory and sweet while maintaining a solid stew consistency with the meats and veggies without being a sludge of grease. Wonderful stuff, we both agreed. My wife had no complaints with her pork it was a generous portion and from the ‘inside’(less fat). We were given ‘cowboy sauce’ a tangy, sweet, slightly spicy dip to go with it, this was after we mentioned we were first timers here so you may have to ask for it. However a regular, mustard, and spicy BBQ sauce are available on the table, all made in-house. There is a store bought sauce as well, the name escapes me except for the word ‘HOT-Q’ being on the label. My brisket came with a generous portion and was full of smoked flavor. Tender and able to pull apart it was delicious with every bite. The cowboy sauce was a good with the brisket but the mustard base sauce gave the smokey meat a light tang that was pretty spectacular. While a BBQ place they do have some appetizers to get your taste buds woke up, including Jalapeño Poppers. These are jalapeño halves, stuffed with cream cheese, hand breaded then fried crispy. Now, I’m not a big fan of these in general the wife loves them and gets them but never wants to eat all of them so I typically end up having one or two of ‘em. My distaste usually comes from them being frozen cause the pepper is chewy or has a weird after taste due to the cheese thawing. These peppers I would eat by the basket simply put they were the best poppers I have had ANYWHERE. As the wife put it, «Life changing.» As I said early this place is 40 miles from me, but with the lack of Mom&Pop BBQ and the chains I’ll probably make the trip quite a few times from here on out.

Walked in and was seated then nothing. It was half full. We walked out after 6 – 7 minutes. No one seemed to care…

This place has great BBQ ribs and shredded pork. I like both their regular and mutated BBQ sauces.

While the service has always been great and the restaurant is always clean, I do not like their barbecue. There are a lot of barbecue restaurants in my area and this is the last one I would go to.

Pros: great layout, fast lunch delivery(at 1:30), pork had good flavor, Kelly the waitress was friendly. Cons: buns were stale, fries were luke warm, sauce selection wasn’t too great. Over all, not too bad and the price was on par with what was offerred.
