Business Owner

Jennifer Melancon grew up 2 blocks from Sophi P Cakes on Roselawn Blvd. She dreamed of one day having a bakery where she could combine fun ideas and delicious recipes to make people smile with delight.

She worked for many years for various bakeries in Lafayette and trained with world renowned pastry chefs in Colorado and New Orleans.

In 2010, her dream became a reality with the opening of Sophi P Cakes, Lafayette’s original cupcakery.

Great cupcakes!!! I ordered a dozen to be delivered to my wife on her birthday. SHE LOVED THEM!!! This was a much better bday delivery than the usual flowers. I ordered over the phone, staff was very nice and the delivery was right on time. Will definitely be ordering from here again!!!

Sophi P always has the best cupcakes! I have gotten cupcakes from here a handful of times and every time they have been amazing! I really love the Dude, Strawberry Fields 4-​Ever, and the Chocolate Sunshine.
The only downside to this place is its location. I find it very difficult to get in and out of the parking lot due to having to cross Johnston.
Other than that, this place is AMAZING!

I threw my sister a baby shower recently and ordered cupcakes from Sophi P’s. They were the hit of the party! I ordered two flavors… White Chocolate Razzle Dazzle which is almond cake filled with raspberry and topped with white chocolate buttercream and toasted almonds and Bee’s Knees which is lemon cake with honey buttercream. Yummo!
The cupcakes here aren’t cheap but they are moist and delicious and really pretty as well.
The staff is friendly and even delivers if you’re in a serious cupcake emergency and need your cupcakes hand delivered to you.
Go get yourself a cupcake from Sophi P’s!

I like cupcakes. But I love high-​quality, homemade cheesecake. Normally, I would have to make one myself or wait until my birthday for my mom to make me one.
But then back in November I had Sophie P’s pumpkin cheesecake for the first time. And it was love. True, delicious, toasted-​pecan-​graham-​cracker-​crust love. It is a perfect cheesecake.
I seriously special order this cheesecake on a weekly basis. It’s the only sugary treat I need. The staff there are really nice too. They don’t tease me at all about my cheesecake addiction, which I appreciate. :)

I’m sorry don’t shoot me, but people who rave about this place are the same people who thinks Lafayette is a food destination, it’s not Lafayette is mediocre at best when it comes to food and this place is a prime example of just that. These cupcakes are not bad buy any means. But neither is a cupcake made from a Betty crocker mix. If you want a REAL gourmet cupcake, you need to make the drive to Gigi’s cupcakes and have their wedding cake cupcake. I’m not sure where the closest one is, Ive only been to the one in mobile al., but let me just say mmmmmmmmmm. Sophie p’s I’m sorry you just disappoint.

I recently got married and had Sophi P do the wedding cake. Our theme was old-​Hollywood/​Big Band Swing-​era glamour, and they made us the most beautiful white, black, and silver Art Deco masterpiece! Not only was it gorgeous, but it was also the yummiest wedding cake I’ve ever put in my mouth! It was traditional almond flavor with butter cream icing and chocolate filling. I seriously have dreams about it…
I’ve had Sophi P cupcakes on numerous occasions at local events and parties. They never disappoint. Every flavor I have tried is unbelievable! If you are in Lafayette and find yourself craving something sweet, definitely check out this shop.

Strawberry Fields 4-​Ever — strawberry cake with cream cheese, delicious
Drunken Punk’in — pumping cake with spiced rum butter cream, decent, but then again, I’m not into pumpkin
Totally Turtle — chocolate cake with caramel butter cream with chocolate chip & toasted pecans, boy o boy, is this some good eating
Caramel Apple — yellow cake with apple filing and caramel butter cream with caramel drizzle, delicious and caramel-​ly
Carrot Cake — the best of October’s menu, carrot cake with cream cheese icing with toasted walnuts, DELICIOUS! couple more days until its gone!
