Carlos the tailor is super knowledgeable and professional. Not only is he competent at what he does but he also stays on top of all of the trends, so you are in very safe hands when he recommends or suggests something. He has a very loyal following for a reason!

Every person should have a good Shoe Cobbler, Dentist, Barber, and a terrific Tailor. Carlos is the man. Makes all my clothes fit properly, and is fully aware of current style trends. Make sure you tip him! He is worth every penny!

You will not be disappointed at the quality of his work and attention to detail. They say the key to a beautiful wardrobe is an excellent tailor and I found one! Carlos is a great find. A consummate professional. Brought him my daughter’s prom gown on the recommendation of her boyfriend’s mom and he did a beautiful job with it. I also brought him a simple inexpensive dress I had bought for myself at Old Navy and after he contoured to fit me better, it looked like a million bucks.

He was great at Dutch Girl in Lafayette and he is amazing at his own place here. I would never go anywhere else he is the best!

Very professional service. The last pair of trousers I had altered Carlos found $ 10 in the pocket and gave me the money when I picked them up. He does great work and is is 100% honest.

I came here because of the fantastic Unilocal reviews, I had fantastic service, so now it’s my turn to leave a fantastic Unilocal review.
I bought a dress for my boyfriend’s birthday party. A beautiful, sexy, black, delicate crochet dress. After a few cocktails and friendly rough housing, the dress ripped across my back left shoulder. I cried. I went to sleep. I woke up. I went on Unilocal.I found Carlos.
I brought it in on a Monday, I was leaving for New York on Thursday and wanted to take the dress on the trip with me. Carlos said he couldn’t make any promises because it was prom season (god dammit) but that was ok with me, I understood. He calls me on Wednesday to let me know my dress was ready for pick up! Woohooo! Awesome surprise. I picked it up and it was good as new. You couldn’t tell a drunken accident ever happened.

I met Carlos several years ago and he’s done different types of work ranging from hemming a very difficult set of heavy duty raw silk curtains to mending a beloved cashmere sweater. He is an amazingly talented and creative individual and he loves what he does and it shows in his craftsmanship. In fact, I’m going to go through my closet tonight and have him work his magic on some items. It’s like going shopping in your own closet when you have Carlos to help! He is simply the best…

My family and I have been following Carlos over a period of 10 years, reluctant to trust anyone else with our clothing. I cannot speak highly enough of his character, work ethic, desire to please, and execution. Whenever I go through my closet, I find pieces that are either outdated or looking dis shelved, knowing Carlos will make these items appear modern, and high quality, all the while at the most affordable cost. Not to mention he is so incredibly kind and has made us feel welcome for over a decade, like family :)
If you consider your wardrobe and appearance a priority, then you have to make Carlos yours! He really is AMAZING, and to say anything less is an understatement.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! Carlos is not only beyond talented, he is as nice as can be. My family has followed Carlos from location to location for years and now that he has his own store we are so happy. At this point, Carlos is the only tailor I trust. I went to Carlos because of the raving reviews I read on Unilocal.And I can tell you, I was NOT disappointed. I brought several items to be taken in, he did a FANTASTIC job on them. Two of the skirts were still just a little big, I might have lost a little more weight, Carlos was so sweet and took them in no charge and they fit perfectly. While I was there waiting to be fitted, he noticed the sweater I was wearing had a small seam that had opened up on the shoulder, he offered to fix it and fixed it right there on the spot. He is so wonderful. It is great to finally find a Tailor that I can trust. I plan to bring many more items to Carlos to do his magic on. I keep losing weight, I think I am going to keep him in business for a long time. :)

Carlos is great! I had taken a custom made pea coat from an online vendor for alterations to another tailor and it ended up unwearable, so I had it remade and took it to Carlos because of all the positive reviews. I was very satisfied with his customer service.
He pinned the coat and asked me about the fitting and gave me opinions and reasons for why certain places would be ideal to alter. The back of my coat was a little loose, but if it were taken in it might be tight across the back, so he gave me the option of coming in to try it on after he had sewn but not cut the fabric, at no extra cost. He was right about it being too tight, so I ditched that alteration. The coat turned out great and he told me a bit about the make of my coat. This was almost a year ago, so I don’t remember the specific alterations, but it only came to $ 38.
I needed a suit, so I went to Carlos for advice. He makes suits, but as a college student they were out of my price range, so he gave me some options. He gave me my approximate size, and suggested some retail locations and websites. I ended up getting a suit from Overstock, and a dress shirt from American Apparel. Again he was able to help me with the fit, and told me which alterations were less crucial for a good looking suit. The alterations came to around $ 100, most of the cost was for altering the sleeve length of the dress shirt. He even altered the length of my tie.
I dropped off some dry cleaning Saturday and one of the shirts needed to be sent back for a stain that could not be removed, but I needed it today and the stain was below the tuck-​line on the shirt, so I picked it up anyway, but was not charged for the stained shirt.
He’s very accommodating, and is able to give you accurate estimates on the look and feel of alterations, as well as the amount of time necessary to complete the alterations. He really is interested in your satisfaction.

Carlos is a miracle. Everything he does, he does well. Perfectly, in fact. He does his work with good humor and integrity and treats his customers like cherished friends. Please note that he also does laundry and dry cleaning.

I have had several items altered by Carlos and every one has turned out beautifully. The tailoring went beyond the usual and included advanced alterations like re-​doing the shoulders of a sport coat. Carlos worked with me to make sure I was satisfied with the results – even having me come in for multiple fittings when necessary and explaining in as much detail as I wanted the process by which he made the alterations. He respects and follows the tailoring traditions of the original makers of garments and can handle anything from everyday clothes all the way up to super expensive Italian suits (like Kiton and Cucinelli).
Carlos is a truly a master tailor and I highly recommend him!

I can only echo what the others have written. Carlos has done work for us for more years than I can remember. His tailoring skills are second to none and he’s never not had something ready when promised. Equally important is his dedication to service and genuine interest in people. He always makes time to visit with customers and personally tend to their needs, even when it’s clear he has considerable work on his table.
We’ve recommended Carlos to several friends and without exception Carlos has become «their tailor». As for pricing for his service, I told him he should raise his prices a few weeks ago. He’s too reasonable. He will be «our tailor» for as long as he will have us.

Carlos, the owner, has been altering my clothes for years. It seems that anytime I buy something new he needs to shorten it and sometimes let it out (:-(). He thinks I am a good model and has offered to make me some custom business pants and a business dress suit. Instead I bartered to have him make me a halloween costume and I would help him with his PR attempts.
Please keep in mind, if I was not absolutely flabbergasted by his craftsmanship I would not even have him touch my clothes. But, I feel incredibly lucky to have him as my tailor and would shout it from the mountain tops if I could. He is a diamond of a find!!!
Carlos has worked as a tailor in Lafayette for 19 years. This is his first business. He is a second generation tailor, his father before him. He can make anything as simple as a blanket to as complicated as a wedding dress. He cares about this customer’s happiness and will bend over backwards to make them happy.
He is also responsible for leading a team of seamstress’ and tailors in Mexico where they create the Mexican Sailor’s uniforms.
