Specialties
Lafayette’s home for conversation and libation. This upscale, but not uptight bar is a great place to grab a classically made cocktail or one of 80 craft & import brews. We have a modest yet respectable wine menu. We feature live music every Friday and Saturday night. We’re not much of a restaurant but pride ourselves on being one of Lafayette’s premier nightspots.
History
Established in 1835.
Established in 1835, and receiving Indiana’s first Liquor license; We are in fact «Indiana’s Oldest Bar» as proclaimed by the Indiana State General Assembly.
Meet the Business Owner
Jeff H.
Business Owner
Jeff began his career in the service industry at 15, as a busboy/dishwasher at the Gathering restaurant, then hoast and waiter at Kelsey’s Steakhouse in Valparaiso IN. While at Purdue, Jeff worked as a doorman, cook, bartender and eventually bar manager at two Purdue campus bars, The Wabash Yacht Club and TA Toms. After studying Organizational Leadership & Supervision at Purdue, Jeff went on to work for Anheuser Bush as a Sales and Marketing representative. Jeff saw an opportunity to purchase the Knickerbocker from his friend and mentor Nick, in early 2007. The success of the Knickerbocker led Jeff to open two other outstanding restaurant/bars in downtown Lafayette with partners Joe and Mike, «Professor Joes Sports Pub & Pizzeria» and «Digby’s Pub & Patio». Now happily married & a father of 3, life’s busy; but whenever possible, Jeff still enjoys getting back to his first passion, Serving up a good drink and having great conversation with the customers!
