History

Established in 1983.

Haws Auto Body was conceived in 1981 by Concord BMW as the areas premier repair facility. Managed by Terry Haws, the company was built with the goals and policies of quality, integrity, trust and loyalty. These are goals that are still at the forefront of our beliefs as a corporation.

Haws Auto Body was purchased by Terry in 1983 and he went from being a manager — to becoming an owner. Staffed with quality employees, the name Haws Auto Body quickly became synonymous with a reputation for quality repairs and exceptional customer service.

Expanding our company in 2002 with the addition of Haws Plaza Auto Body (located in Lafayette) enabled us to better serve our customers in the Lamorinda area.

We have been serving Contra Costa County and surrounding communities for over 25 years. Our goal is simple: To provide quality auto body repairs with superior customer service.

I’m so happy with my ’98 Toyota Camry XLE after repairing both the rear and front bumpers. The repairs were done quickly and the final cost was lower than the initial estimate. Also, I was given a rental to use while my car was in the shop, and the whole process was made very simple and affordable. Also, everyone was really nice and kept me informed about my cars progress so I knew how things were going.

Someone stole my catalytic converter from my car in broad daylight in the Orinda BART Station. Being new to the area, I chose Haws’ because it was on the list of my insurance’s preferred auto shops, it had great reviews, and it was close-​by. In short, Haws’ made a terrible situation better. Mike ensured that my car was fully restored to proper running order including the check engine light which the muffler shop balked at fixing. The icing on the cake is that they washed and detailed my car inside and out. This is a big deal since my inoperable car was parked under oak trees and it was a mess. Heaven forbid if I ever need another trip to the auto shop again. If I do, it will be to Haws’. Thank you Mike and Genevieve.

First and foremost, absolutely sucks that you are reading over reviews for an auto body shop. Hope that there were no injuries.
We recently got hit by another car (everyone was ok, thx for asking) and our insurance rep recommended Haws. We took our car here and we were amazed at the level of service and professionalism.
In particular, Leah was amazing at communicating with us throughout the process. She also coordinated with both insurance companies to make sure the deductible and everything would be paid and we could get our car back asap.
Although i certainly hope that we don’t get in another accident, it’s great to know that Haws would be our first and only call to get everything fixed.

Mike and Leah’s customer service goes so far beyond anything I have ever experienced that I won’t take my cars anywhere else. They bend over backwards to make it easy for their customers and the quality of the job is outstanding. They don’t cut corners, so if you want a perfect finish to your repair this is the place to go to. Really friendly local family business too.

After a really unfortunate Audi-​door-​into-​pole incident with my boyfriend’s car, we took it to Haws to get an estimate and/​or see if they could get it to close so we could at least secure the car. The guys at the shop took a look at it and said we would probably need to buy a new door, but they would see what they could do about getting it to close. After about 20 minutes of tinkering, adjusting, and some stretching, the door closes, locks, and is, for the most part, flush against the rest of the car.
It’s a huge relief to not have to need to spend a couple thousand on a new door right now, and the guys at Haws gave us a workable solution for the time being.
By far, the nicest shop I’ve ever dealt with. Everyone we talked to was professional and very kind. They went out of their way to help us out, so I’ll definitely be telling anyone I know who needs body work on their car to take it to Haws.

I went in and wanted to see about an estimate for some work before I sell my car. I think her name was Leah… was SO kind to me, looked at all the damage, assessed the work needed, and told me flat out that it wasn’t worth her company fixing the car. She looked up Kelly Blue Book prices and even emailed me a craigslist ad for a comparable car, and basically gave me awesome advice for half an hour, free of charge. I was shocked. I always feel like car places are trying to take advantage of me. I almost wish I had work to give them! But instead I will write this nice review. :)

I’ve owned BMWs for almost 30 years and Haws is exceptional. Recently I had a rear bumper that the sun had damaged over the years. It needed to be repainted. The car is 14 years old and in excellent condition. The work done was perfect in match. If you care about your car, well, so does Haws.

Having to visit an Auto Body shop is on par with having to get a consultation on a root canal. I was in a bad mood going in after my month old vehicle was a victim of a hit and run in a parking lot. I was expecting the worst as there was noticeable damage to the right side of the rear bumper and a nick on the quarter panel. My estimator was extremely pleasant and immediately tried to look for opportunities to avoid repairs. Within 5 minutes my car was sitting in their detail shop getting a rub down. Miraculously they were able work out a lot of superficial damage with only a couple of scratches remaining on the bumper. It was almost good enough to leave alone, but she left the decision up to me. We plan on getting the bumper replaced through Haws’, however thanks to a little elbow grease my repair will be about 1k less. Thank you, Haws’ for making me feel better about a bad situation.

If I could give Haw’s Plaza Auto 10 Stars, I would do it without question because they deserve it.
A month ago, I was involved in a fairly substantial accident in which I was rear-​ended and pushed into the car in front by a texting driver while I was stopped at a traffic light. Despite the obvious liability, the insurance companies have done nothing but give me the run around. Leah and Haw’s have been the only honest and straightforward parties with which I have dealt – I cannot give Leah any higher praise. She has been amazing at coordinating the insurance companies’ 3rd party estimators and providing accurate, direct and honest information about the damage to the vehicle which has allowed me to deal with the insurance companies that are doing nothing. It is so refreshing and rare to find a business that actually cares about not only the quality of its work, but also the quality of its customer service.
Without any question, this is the first and only place that I would recommend taking any vehicle that needs body work.

I keep my cars forever and they look almost new when I sell them. Recently my new car was hit and I was heartbroken.

I’m not much of a car person, in fact I know little about cars, which is why I always feel uncomfortable in auto places… but now Haws. They were very professional, did what they said they would, kept me up to date on the progress, gave me a ride to work and I left my rental car with them to take care of! Highly recommend using Haws Auto Body in Lafayette. My car looks like new!
