My daughter had her wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Gronbach several years ago. She had several problems after the surgery — particularly pain and swelling in her lower jaw which required additional treatment. He placed antibiotic «tape» in the hole in her gum. He later had a very difficult time extracting the tape since the gum had started to grow over it, which caused additional pain.
After about a month, she had more pain and swelling in the same area, even though the gum had completely healed. She saw several other ortho surgeons who took xrays and suggested that if she didn’t get over the pain soon, they would suggest exploratory surgery to open up the cavity to see if there was tape residue or something which was causing the swelling. After taking several rounds of strong antibiotics, the swelling and pain finally subsided.

I saw Dr Gronbach for wisdom tooth extraction. I found his office friendly and highly professional. The procedure was done with local and took about 40 minutes. I highly recommend Dr Gronbach.

After reading Nate’s review, I went WOW, deja vu. I needed a tooth extracted and he refused to just yank it unless he put me under. I explicitly told him local was fine with me, just pull it. It was very strange, like he was afraid to do it with just a local. Then he proceeded to charge me for the full general anesthesia fee. Makes one wonder.

I had two implants done by Dr Gronbach. I went into the procedure with a fair amount of apprehension due to my wife’s experience with a different oral surgeon a couple of years ago. Dr. Gronbach and staff was very understanding in assuring me that it would be a painless procedure. I dropped my request for a general anesthetic and had the procedure done with just a local.
The procedure and the follow up went extraordinarily well. I didn’t even need to use the 6 pain pills prescribed. As good as it gets!

I just had my wisdom teeth removed yesterday. The staff was awesome. I never get nervous before seeing a dentist, but this time was different because I would be fully under anesthesia. I was extremely anxious and the nurse/​dental assistant (not sure because I was too nervous to take note of name badges if they had them) could tell right away. She asked what I was most nervous about and I told her the anesthesia. She very calmly told me okay and that she had some laughing gas set up for me. I was very grateful but of course I have never had laughing gas before so that made me even more nervous! Hahah the irony. The staff was really friendly with me and the dentist was great. Before I knew it I was waking up and didn’t even know it was all over. A nurse was in the room with me and helped me get my sweatshirt on and sat in a wheel chair. They wheeled me out to a back hallway where the doctor and some other people met me. Let me tell you, they speak excellent «Gauze mouth».
All in all I had an excellent experience. I didn’t have an ounce of pain while recovering yesterday. I have been good about taking the vicodin every 4 hours and the ibuprofen every 6. Today I haven’t taken any vicodin and I feel fine. I will stick with the ibuprofen because I would rather have fewer drugs in my system.
I definitely recommend Dr. Gronbach and his staff.

On a scale of 1 to 5 (five high), I would give Dr, Gronbach and staff a 6 or a 7. I recently had my last molar extracted. Everything was well explained and the event went well. Remarkably, I had no swelling or discomfort the following day. That was likely a result of his technique and prescribed followed up procedures (ice and Alieve).

I got some wisdom extracted here a few years ago. During my pre-​op, he asked me if any of my friends had had their wisdom teeth out. When I told him that yes, some of them had, he asked me «so do you know if they were under completely or if it was just local anesthesia?» He asked it like he was legitimately trying to find out what he was supposed to do. Like it was his first time.
It might well have been, because a week after surgery I was in the hospital with a dry socket, where they prescribed me elephant-​grade antibiotics. Also, instead of giving me Vicodin, he gave me Percocet. Percocet is a hell of a drug, let me tell you. My jaw is still permanently fucked up.

I was referred to Dr. Gronbach by my dentist for the removal of my wisdom teeth. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience there. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I had delayed getting my wisdom teeth pulled out and was in quite a bit of pain but they worked with me to fit me in as soon as possible.
Dr. Gronbach himself was fantastic! He went over the whole procedure with me; what I should expect the day of the surgery and the days following. He is definitely an expert at what he does; I was without any pain within 24 hours of getting 4 wisdom teeth pulled!

I cracked my molar nearly in half yesterday while having lunch and mistakenly bit down on a small piece of bone. The pain was sharp, indescribable and nauseating. There was no way that I could go through the rest of the day with that tooth in my mouth! Thankfully my husband was there and he quickly called the oral surgeons around the area and Dr. Gronbach’s office was able to fit me in that same afternoon to remove the tooth.
We got to the office and the staff that greeted me were all very nice. They clearly understood that I was in severe pain. They were able to squeeze me in and I didn’t have to wait very long to see Dr. Gronbach. After taking some x-​rays, examining the tooth and asking me some questions, Dr. Gronbach proceeded with the surgery to remove the cracked molar. They offered me some laughing gas free of charge to help me relax probably because they felt sorry for me. Remember, I was in SEVERE pain.
The procedure lasted longer than expected because the roots of the tooth were what they described as «torturous». The extraction wasn’t cheap, but I didn’t expect anything to be a bargain in the Lamorinda area. It wasn’t unreasonable either so I was fine with it.
I was impressed by how efficient the office was, how quickly they accommodated me, how friendly everyone was and I felt taken care of in an emergency situation. Dr. Gronbach took pictures of the tooth in addition to the x-​rays and wanted to make sure that my primary dentist wouldn’t think that he extracted the tooth for no good reason. Believe me, there was no way around it. I felt the crack with my tongue and it went way down beyond the gum line. Still, it was very thorough of him to make sure my dentist understood what had happened.
It you are ever so unfortunate as to have a cracked tooth, call Dr. Gronbach’s office. They will take good care of you!

The front staff gives the warmest welcome and makes you feel like you are family. Never in my life had I been scared or nervous about seeing a dentist until I was referred to see dr gronbach. Boy was i wrong. This was the best referral ever as I felt the warmth right off the bat. The staff made sure everything would go flawless and it exceed even that.
Dr gronbach greeted me professionally made sure I knew everything about what was going on and treated my mouth with most care. Surgery went smooth and now sad he can’t do more work on my mouth.
Highly recommended and would strongly encourage all other general dentist to use him as a referral doctor.
