Clocks, Etc. specializes in clocks and we have the largest selection of clocks in the San Francisco Bay Area. We carry the major brands: Howard Miller, Seiko and Bulova and we have the most complete selection of Timeworks. If you are looking for an alarm clock or childrens clocks, you will find a great selection.

We also carry an eclectic variety of gifts and home and garden accessories as well as accent furniture. We are pleased to feature clocks and garden items from local artists as well as artists from around the country.

We will help you find the perfect clock or gift item and we offer free gift wrapping year round. For your convenience, we offer engraving services and we ship worldwide.

Expert clock repair and restoration done on the premises. Please call for information before bringing your mechanical clock in for repair.

History

Established in 1976.

Scott Hampton opened Clocks, Etc. in May of 1976 with a 400 square foot space on Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette specializing in antique timepieces. Clocks, Etc. expanded to 1300 sq. ft. and added new clocks and home accessories.

In 1999 we moved our store to a 2600 sq ft. space in La Fiesta Square in the center of Lafayette.

Scott was president of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce in 1997 and his wife, Wendy, is currently on the board of directors.

We support the local schools as well as local charities through gift certificates and donations. Scott and Wendy have been a part of the Lafayette Art and Wine Festival since its inception in 1995. Wendy was chosen as the 2003 Art and Wine Volunteer of the Year.

Other achievements: Marquis Business Persons of the Year for 2004, 1999 and 2000 Hourglass Award presented by Howard Miller Clock Co. in recognition of outstanding customer service and sales achievement, 2008 Contra Costa County Small Business for the City of Lafayette.

Scott Hampton, clockmaker, was trained at John O’Connell Institute in San Francisco and has been performing expert clock repair since 1975.

He opened Clocks, Etc. in May of 1976.

I was introduced to this store via their booth at the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival. I spun the wheel and won a set of Melamine coasters from their shop, for free and I love them!
When I went to go claim my free gift I took time to look around the store and fell in love. The items they sell are extremely unique and are great gift items! The variety of clocks is incredible. I am planning on saving up for one of their Kit-​Cat clocks, I have always one and I am excited that I found a store that sells them.
I also came back a second time to introduce my friend to this store because she was looking to buy a gift for someone. Both times I have gone in, the employees have been extremely friendly and super helpful. Metered parking till 7pm.

If you need your cuckoo clock fixed, take it here! You may not see your clock for a while, but that is the nature of the beast. We bought our clock in the Black Forrest so it was really special to us, and when it stopped working we were really sad about it. It didn’t keep perfect time when we had it, but now that it was over hauled here, it is keeping the best time it ever has! You must however be patient with the length of time it takes for the repair though, and trust Scott, because he knows what he is doing. I’m sure it depends how much work you need done, but we didn’t get the clock back for 13 months, so like I said, keep this in mind when you bring it in. We are happy though that she is back in the house delighting us with her song and cuckoo chime.

Found this place while walking off our Father’s Day lunch at Yankee Pier. Awesome, magical place tucked away in back of the same shopping mall featuring FedEx, Chow and Cold Stone Creamery. They had something for everybody.
The whirligig lawn ornaments fascinated me. Fortunately for my wallet, I didn’t have a lawn. My niece wanted a singing stuffed toy. My mom bought a musical Christmas ornament. My sister is planning to put a clock on layaway.

We LOVE this store.
We had a beautiful grandfather clock on layaway for a VERY long time. The layaway was free and they let us choose the terms. This was amazing for us because we could not have afforded such a beautiful clock otherwise.
Back in late March, we finally paid off the clock and they delivered it to our home. They did a wonderful job setting it up in our home.
While they were there, I showed them my anniversary clock that had been broken for some time. They said they could fix it for me and took it with them. A couple of weeks later, I got a call that my clock was ready. I was delighted. I was very pregnant at the time and about to deliver any day. They held on to the clock for me until June when I was finally able to make the drive from Bay Point to Lafayette.
They also have a great collection of unique gifts. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone looking for a clock or a fun gift.

This store is magical. When you walk in you hear water falling, birds chirping and clocks ticking.
So many fun music boxes, really interesting clocks and unique dolls. They have some beautiful grandfather clocks that they will allow you to leave on hold at the store until you are able to pay for item in full because they can be on the higher side of pricing, but so beautiful and grand… the girl working I believe her name was Natalie, she was so delightful and sweet.
You have to stop by the store if you are in the area. They have so many things you can buy as gifts… it’s a perfect little store.

Cool! Sure, a store dedicated entirely (well, nearly) to clocks is just the sort of elcetric thing that is characteristc of Lafayette. I’ve been here 3 years and didn’t go in until recently.
I’ve been looking for the ideal clock for my kitchen. They have a huge range, and nothing they had *quite* struck me as my style, but still, lots of options. I dragged my girlfriend here and she loved it too.
I’m sure I’ll go back and eventually find the ideal clock.

I’ve had a note to myself to check out the full store in Lafayette for about a year. My husband and I saw the Clocks, Etc. booth at Walnut Creek’s 2013 Cat Festival. (I think) and I’ve had Scott’s business card in my purse since then with a reminder of all the great gift ideas they had on display in their booth. The store must be even more awesome!
More than just clocks, they sell home and garden accessories, and also offer engraving services. I have looked online at their selection a few times and have fallen in love with a singing stuffed cow. I need to see the adorable cow («Bessy Mae») in person, so I need to make the short trip to Lafayette. She’d make a great gift (note: free gift wrapping available).
My favorite: The whimsical Black Kitty clock ($ 65) is right up my alley. The only clock in my home right now is actually a Black Cat clock *(as in the fireworks brand). Would love to bring another cat (clock) home!

Just discovered this shop a week before Christmas.
Our friend, I, introduced us to it.
They have clocks of every shape and size from miniature clocks to various sizes of Grandfather clocks. They have those cute kit-​kat clocks with the rolling eyes and pendulm tails, lots and lots of small wall clocks with a variety of designs – loved the
painted cats; several EXTRA LARGE wall clocks (which would be fun to have as
a chronic myopic being) and more and more,
They also had several fountains with little waterfalls… hey I never knew I wanted
one! Suitable for indoor or outdoor?
They also had miniature trees (6″ to 24″). I bought a 12″ tree that had little bulbs with branches delicately laced with :“snow.“
The staff was warm and cheery.
It’s a fun fun shop to visit and buy the clock of your dreams.
Actually the clock of my dreams would be one of their grandfather clocks but
luckily we don’t have the room or money for one.
My late dad would have loved this shop. We had clocks in every room in the house I grew up in. They all had different times — -the point was to have a clock in
every room nor the right time… :D

I am a professional organizer and I specialize in organizing peoples moves. My clients have a very large Howard Miller Grandfather clock which needed to be packed for their move. I am happy to report that Scott and Wendy came out to my client’s home, in the evening, and expertly took the weights, chains and pendulum apart, and carefully packed them. After the move they came to the new residence and put the clock back together again.
They were well organized, careful, courteous and professional. I am very pleased to add them to my resources list.

This store clocks!
I discovered this little gem way back in high school, and just about forgot about it until walking downtown the other day.
It was great back then, and it’s even better now! They really have expanded the store upon just selling clocks and added lots of cool ect…
I was totally blown away with how much quirkey-​artsy, cool stuff they had. I felt as if I walked into some little store out of a dream… so many cool things and actually equipped with some quite reasonable prices.
I spoke to the owner a bit about their anticipated expanation of beautiful items, and he was really sincere and a real pleasure to talk to.
Oh, how I am glad I rediscovered this place :)

They do have a good selection of clocks and the staff are friendly. Their repair service is extremely lacking. I took one watch there for a battery replacement. Battery was replaced for a good price but stopped again a week later. Repair was completed due to a «stopped movement.» Now it has stopped again 3 months later. Never had a problem with the watch before… I also took a pocketwatch there for a total overhaul. They said 8 – 10 weeks. IT HAS BEEN 8 – 10 MONTHS AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE IT!!! I will not be returning. Ever.

Who’d a thunk it? this place is more than clocks — they have a lot of the ‘etc.’ a really fun place to shop and browse. they have lots of knicknacks and doodads and giftables (with gift wrapping if wanted). and, of course, a huge selection of clocks. good folks too.

I was introduced to this gem about 7 years ago by my friend Devon (who is the owners cousin). I am hard to please so I was prepared to visit this place and thank Devon for sharing the location and off to have lunch. Well, I ended up buying a grandfather clock. It took me forever to choose from the great choices! I couldn’t decide. The owner personally delivered the clock and set it up. My mom is a neat freak and he surpassed her expectations.

My wife needed a holiday gift and was astonished at the selection and prices here. Even though they feature clocks (wall, grandfather, kitschy, whatever) she bought a nice piece of statuary. I met the owners through the chamber of commerce and have always been impressed with their community involvement.
