I highly recommend Jennifer McGhee because she is not only Paul Mitchell certified, but she does outstanding color! Jennifer has been my stylist for 13 years and does fantastic work! I like the fact she listens and makes recommendations for what would look best with the shape of my face, type of hair, and skin tone. LOVE HER!

I got my hair colored by Jenna Hesler and my god she is amazing! I would definitely recommend her. Plus she is probably one of the nicest people I’ve met! They give you a free haircut if you get a coloring and she made sure that she knew exactly what I wanted. The salon’s atmosphere is very professional and vibrant :) Free coffee, water, & pop! It’s worth giving a try I promise!

I went to changes for the first time and had a cut and color done by Jenna. I am in love with the results! The cut is modern and fun and she took time to get my layers just right. The color is perfect! I was 15 minutes late to the appointment and she was still awesome. I’ve paid twice as much at other salons for the same quality cut and attention to detail I got with Jenna. Highly recommended!

Tried out this place for a haircut. I went with a junior stylist, Jenna, and she did a great job –shampoo, cut, and curl my long hair — at a great price. Beautifully arranged place. Professional atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Having just moved to the area, I am so glad I was able to find such a great salon right away. From what I can tell the entire staff is well trained, knowledgeable, and very friendly. My stylist, Miss Jenn Martin, is incredible and really loves what she does.

Just had my second cut at Changes with Jenn. She remembered personal information about me as well as details about the first cut and styling. We talked about what I wanted to do differently from the first cut, how I liked the products she used, and then at the end of the session strategized a bit about options for my next cut based on how this one pans out. She had good suggestions based on my hair type, body type, and face shape. Jenn even explained some of the technical details of the cut to me as she was working, which I found really interesting!
In short, this seems like a salon that really works with the customer over the longterm to actively come up with a hair style and strategy, and they are flexible about mixing it up based on feedback. It’s good as a one-​time haircut experience, but I anticipate liking it more and more as a returning customer.
Also, unlike many salons I’ve been to, they accept credit cards, including putting tips on cards. Hooray! And prices are what I’d consider ‘cheap’ by bigger city salon standards. I’d consider the experience comparable to salons in the large metro areas I’ve lived in.
Only downsides: I would love if they were open one weekend day, since weekday appointments can be a hassle. It’s also not the fastest haircut experience I’ve had. So I just pick a day where I can budget enough time in the morning or evening to devote to a hair appointment.

This was a GREAT experience. I had Jenn as my stylist and I could not ask for a better cut on my straight, coarse hair. She greeted me and promptly took me on a tour of the salon, offering fresh beverages and reading material along the way.
I was then taken to a consultation where she spoke about what I wanted and her suggestions. This was my favorite part because as a stylist she was not afraid to give me advice on how to achieve the look that I want and opinions about how certain looks would work with my face and bone structure. This was great because I went there with no clear vision in mind.
The cut was great and so were the products used. One thing I appreciated was that at no time did I feel like products were being pushed to me by Jenn, in fact I asked her what she used on my hair because it felt so healthy afterwards (a little side note, the Paul Mitchell Twist cream is amazing).
She also spent a lot of time on my hair, and I felt better cared for than many of the stylists I’ve been to previously. They also take walk-​ins.
I will be back and I’m recommending Changes to all of my friends too !

When you walk in, you are greeted and asked if you would like a beverage. Warm towels on your neck when you get shampooed. Jennifer McGhee is a wonderful stylist. My hair is difficult to cut well, very thick and with erratic waves. Many stylists try to ‘thin it out’ which just makes it bushier. Jenn completely understands my hair type and always makes my hair look beautiful. But even better, it still looks that way when I do it myself. It’s a little pricey, but it’s worth it in my opinion.

Jeffrey, Jennifer, Kristen & all the folks at Changes are fantastic! My hair takes a pro to get it right. Changes never disappoints & have been a pleasure to visit every single time i have been there. (every 6 weeks for over 10 years). My wife & I now take our son to Changes… it’s a family obsession!

Fantastic experience! I will never go anywhere else! I booked an appointment with Changes after reading some reviews on Unilocal and was definitely not disappointed. The salon atmosphere is unlike any that I have experienced in Laf/​WLaf, or anywhere. I booked an appointment with Jenn Martin who did a fantastic job on my color. She truly has an eye for detail and I cannot tell you how satisfied I am with the entire experience. I will definitely recommend Changes to everyone I know.

–VERY stylish /​updated /​well maintained décor. Looks much nicer than many salons in larger cities (Indy/​Chicago). Super clean!
–Updated selection of magazines (hairstyle as well as fashion) spread throughout the salon
–2 wet bars that offer coffee/​soda/​etc. while you wait or during your service
–Very professional atmosphere– stylists just seem to be interested in being there to do great hair

–Gave me a tour of the salon (since it was my first appointment)
–Spent a nice amount of time on pre-​service consultation (best consultation that I have ever received in a salon-​really took the appropriate amount of time understanding my habits/​hair, etc.) I am a really low maintenance hair person, so I really appreciated that she wanted to help me find something that works for my routine (time and budget!)
–Great eye for detail on the color and I appreciated that she took the time to consult me on the different color swatches and what I thought I liked, etc.
–Great job talking about other services available and explaining a variety of things that I could do if I wanted to do them in the future — from a very informative standpoint– definitely not pushy like some places I have experienced.
–Overall great experience and guarantees all of her work, which is an added bonus!

As a Purdue student for almost four years, it has taken me this long to get the guts to go to a different hair salon. I’ve been getting my hair done at the same salon back in Avon, IN for at least the last ten years. But since my parents recently moved, I don’t have the time to drive back and forth, unless I’m on break.
I called to make an appointment after seeing a couple rave reviews. Changes and its employees definitely don’t disappoint! I had great experience with stylist, Kristin T. She was very professional and personable, since I was very nervous about getting my hair cut by someone new.

So, Lafayette is my hometown, which is how I originally began getting my hair done at this fine establishment. Now, I can never get my hair done anywhere else. EVER. I live in Chicago now, and I can’t bring myself to get even a trim somewhere else. Jeffrey, the owner, has given me the name of a great stylist he knows in Chicago, but I can’t bring myself to go to her. The gas money I spend traveling there is well worth it. I will never leave Jeffrey and the rest of his amazing staff, and I even recommend those of you in Chicago trying it out if you ever have reason to be in the area, or to be heading that way. You will not be disappointed!
Changes is a Paul Mitchell focus salon, and the stylists there are constantly learning new things and implementing cutting edge techniques. While my personal favorite is Jeffrey, anytime my schedule prevents me from going to him, or he is booked on one of the only days I am in town, I can go to any of the stylists at this salon and know that the quality of my cut & color will be the same as if Jeffrey had done it himself. The stylists here listen to what you want, offer their own suggestions if you are indecisive, and they review what you want them to do before they get started on your do– just to make sure you are getting the look you want. The salon has a very welcoming feel as well, and I don’t think I’ve ever entered without being greeted and offered a drink right away.
The salon is also putting on an addition at the time, so I can’t wait to go back and see the fantastic new area! I could rave about Changes all day, but it’s a place you have to experience for yourself. If I could give it 99 stars, I would! I just can’t say enough about this place. A-​MA-​ZING.
