Located next to Whole Foods in a shopping center, Blue Gingko is a small Japanese restaurant featuring innovative, fresh sushi. Went for lunch and asked the waitress to select three sushi rolls(about $ 16 each) for our party of two. She told us the ingredients-scallops, shrimp, avocado, salmon, roe, etc. We gave her the«okay» and we loved every bite. The portions are large so two would have been sufficient. There was enough left over to take a box home. Very casual, quiet atmosphere good for carrying on a conversation, and packed by 12:30. This is a local hang out for people who enjoy quality with efficient, friendly service. Prices are comparable to other sushi establishments. Really delicious and healthy!

I love coming here whenever I can with my mom. This place can get really packed but the food is amazing! I really like their shrimp tempura rolls as well as their salmon teriyaki dinner plate. We usually order the same thing every time and we always leave satisfied. :) Hands down my favorite sushi place!

The other reviewer is INSANE. This place is an institution in Lafayette. Been in business over 10 years, same family runs it. We bring friends from San Francisco to dinner here and have them compare Blue Ginko to their favorite place in the city. Blue Ginko always gets rave reviews. Great atmosphere, awesome people, family business that’s been doing it right for decades. You can’t go wrong. You don’t stay in business that long and have a packed house every night if your food stinks. Try the: 1.sashimi 2. Mita roll 3. Crunch tropical roll 4. Island roll Each one a home run

This is about the newer Blackhawk Plaza location.(I couldn’t find a place on Unilocal for that.) The sushi is excellent, location great, would have enjoyed outdoor seating that I couldn’t get even with a reservation. Here’s what I really didn’t like. The NOISEINSIDE. It’s beyond horrible. Even though people complain in print and elsewhere, restaurants are too loud with music and horrible acoustics. Even the waiters can’t hear. Also, this has happened twice in restaurants to me recently. When you bring a birthday cake, they serve it BEFORE lighting the candle(s). What’s up with that? It kind of takes the fun out of the whole thing. The waiters/waitresses are often from other countries and perhaps don’t know of the custom here? Maybe some restaurant owners could do some training? But, most of all, the noise in restaurants is horrible when the customer and the wait staff CAN’T HEAREACHOTHERANDHAVETOSHOUT! For this reason, I’m probably not going back. Too bad, I liked the food.
