B & D Towing Lamorinda

These folks are just unethical crooks. Son’s car got towed by them to their lot on a Thursday night. They are closed on the weekend, and we went to pick up the car on Monday. It was there for 4 days, and we got charged for 5 days at over $ 100/​day in addition to a $ 250 towing charge of about 5 blocks. I am asking my credit card company to hold up the charge as the guy at the towing company will not even talk to them over the gross overcharge. If I am not satisfied there, I will consider a lawsuit against these moneygrubbing folks.

Never thought that I would review a towing company on Unilocal,but here I am! I believe the person who came to assist me was named Ken (could be wrong), he was great! I have a hybrid Nissan Altima and thought that I needed a tow to the dealership to get my car repaired. When I called Nissan and explained the issue they basically told me that what it sounded like was an issue that cost $ 500 to repair and to get my car towed into the shop. It took about 20 min for B&D to arrive and the awesome thing is that just like another reviewer said, they don’t just tow your car and not ask questions. He took the time to explain things I didn’t know about hybrid vehicles and figured out what the real issue was. I’m not going to bore you with the long details of what was wrong with my car, my point is that this company cares about their customers and have a good team working for them.
Also it looks like some of the crappy reviews are really old so if you need a tow, call them because they have made some positive changes.

Tonight my 1990 Toyota Camry got stuck in a deep ditch and my insurance company sent B&D Towing to help me out. A very friendly guy named Tony showed up earlier then the expected arrival time. He was compassionate about my predicament and he did his best to make sure that my Camry made it out of that ditch in one piece without scratches or additional damages. He is a veteran who worked as a mechanic in Afghanistan so he obviously knows his stuff. Although the process was slow going, I knew it was because he was making sure the gravel didn’t do damage to my car as he pulled it out. Afterwards, he showed me exactly where my car had dragged and gave me his business card incase my car needed any repairs. Absolutely amazing guy, very professional, hard working, and definitely cares about his customers. Tony if you’re reading this, thank you again for saving my ass tonight. Highly recommend him:

I needed an emergency tow & my insurance company called B & D. they were here within 15 minutes, were VERY careful with my low profile sports car as they loaded it on the flat bed tow trunk, were very courteous and efficient and called me to tell me that they had arrived at the auto shop 10 minutes later. I could not have asked for anything more. Darren was great!

These guys got my car out of a ditch on the side of the road that was very tricky and the price was quite reasonable considering it took two trucks. They also were available during bad weather on the weekend when other services were not available. Thanks!

I am filing a lawsuit against B&D Towing and anyone affiliated with of this eye-​sore DUMP of a ‘business’ for damaging the AWD on my Audi and their subsequent disappearing act when I approached them to resolve the issue.
Most recent estimates from 2 independent mechanics conclude my vehicle was DAMAGED and is now registering a check engine code for transmission failure and a leak. I purchased the vehicle 2 DAYS PRIOR from Elite Motor Cars in Concord with a pre-​sale inspection report CERTIFIED and had the car for less than 12hrs before these guys got to it. No Check Engine light — NOW CHECK ENGINE. No leak — NOW LEAK.
Not only did the owner duck my phone calls, his secretary (or wife) told me «I shouldn’t be buying used cars because that’s the real problem». I hired a lawyer, sent them a letter, and this is what Richard the owner had to respond: (summary)
«…because there is a leak stain in the parking spot next to the parking spot where your AWD was towed, my incompetent and highly unqualified conclusion is that the AWD must have been parked in that spot many times on previous occasions, thus the leak was there before we towed it, thus your car was broken before we got to it.». No Joke…
Because there is an oil stain leak NEXT to the spot where they towed my car — then my car must have been leaking… not that there’s NO leak in the spot they towed me and that it WAS leaking at the tow yard when I got to it. Or that its never been parked there before because I JUST BOUGHT it!
They won’t look at the reports, they won’t look at the car and inspect it themselves, they won’t return phone calls, they won’t look at the facts, what makes you think they run an honest business or tell the truth when they make a mistake. I had to get a lawyer to get this much out of them… AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Our vehicle was towed on a Saturday morning. They are closed all weekend. By Monday they had tacked on 3 days of «storage» at $ 100/​day to a $ 250 charge for towing 3 blocks. An extremely unethical business with unfriendly employees.

OMG these guys are SOO bad and coupled with Costco /​Ameriprise it is a recipe for disaster. The first time I used them (¹⁄₂₀₁₄) they responded incredibly fast for a flat tire. Easy enough eh? You would have thought. They could not and did not have the deep well socked to remove the tire. The first tow truck called another and together they did not have a deep well socket to remove a normal after market rim so they HAD to tow the car (they actually told my sister the lug nuts were stripped).
My Costco insurance called them again for the same car. It blew a radiator line today. After dealing with Ameriprise for at least 30 min being put on hold again and again for «just a brief moment» I finally got sent to B&D towing. An hour and a half later someone showed up at my car. Had I known that it would be that long from the beginning I would have went to have dinner somewhere. no foul. But to be told 15 min to 1 hour and to wait for 1.5 hours is not OK. I had a lot of time to think of why I left State Farm and why I didn’t still have AAA towing. The «free» towing from your Costco Exec. card is not worth the price. You only need a tow when it is inconvenient. To have a company (Ameriprise) who chooses that time to decide to debate whether you are covered and then decide «eh you are right you are covered». we’ll send a tow truck (the slowest/​cheapest one we can find) is so NOT COOL!!! Coupled with a half witted tow company who is obviously low bidder makes me thoroughly understand why free can be really bad. I was on the phone so long my phone went almost dead. Luckily I wasn’t on a lonely road.

They towed my car from a lot in walnut creek, stranding me with my 5 month old and 2.5 year old sons in the cold with no carseats. The operator was no help, his driver hung up on me after saying I should just call a cab and maybe I’d get lucky and they’d have carseats (idiot). After finally getting some much needed help from my sister who lives in walnut creek we got to the tow yard only to find it «closed.» The operator again said he would call someone about opening it up and they would call me. Took awfully long considering someone was inside the lit office. Guy inside was «nice» enough to not charge me for overnight (considering it was 8:30pm and I had only been towed ½ an hour before I should hope not) and yet I still paid $ 195 for their 5 mile tow down the road. It’s a scam. I’m sure they split the profits with the lot owners. See my review of Regional Parking. Again, I’ll be following up with the better business bureau for their reckless and unjust towing of my car.

These guys are great. My truck wouldnt start at a gas station about 1 mile from my house. I called other towing companies and they wanted to charge me $ 110 plus a premium because it was after 6pm on a Sunday. One company would only give me a range which was $ 110 up to $ 150. Lamorinda came in 5 minutes and tow my truck home for a flat fee of $ 95. A great deal, great service, no bs.

Very good service. Always courteous and responsive. I have used them quite a bit since we needs tows often as I own a repair shop.

UHaul Review: Reserved a truck for the weekend — they decided to close early and never called us. We were left without a truck and had to rearrange our son’s move. When we called them on Monday, they were rude, dismissive and made no effort to «make this right». They cost us time and money! Would NOT recommend using this location!

Rented a U-​Haul from these guys. It was the fastest no-​bs U-​Haul rental experience I’ve ever had. Compare to the catastrope that is U-​Haul on Monument, these guys are sent from heaven.

I got in an accident and the CHP called the tow truck which is mistake number 1. Call your own tow and you pay quite a bit less. The overpriced CHP tow combined with a fee to dispose of the car. After talking to the manager, I was able to get him to waive the disposal fee since I had the title in hand. In the end, good service and nice people. Call them directly and you can surely save some coin vs the CHP people.
