Owned and managed by educators, with a committed staff of highly educated and experienced tutors, Ames offers exceptional academic tutoring, SAT/​ACT test prep and personalized college counseling. We partner with families to help students chart a well-​balanced educational pathway that leads to academic success, personal empowerment and greater understanding of oneself as a learner and individual.

Our tutors are personable, supportive mentors who also happen to be amazing subject matter experts. Many hold advanced degrees in their fields and have years of experience and training as educators. Whether they are calculus whizzes, literature masters or chemistry pros, all our tutors share a genuine fondness for young people and a commitment to helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.

Business Owner

Bill graduated from Columbia University where he received numerous academic honors and scholarships, as well as athletic awards — including induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame. After Columbia, Bill served in the Peace Corps in Brazil, taught high school, and created a non-​profit company that provided leadership and success skills seminars for high school and college students throughout the country. He became a highly regarded motivational speaker for students, parents, and teachers throughout the Bay Area, Ohio, and New England. Bill founded Ames Seminars in 1993. He is well known for his unique skills as a test-​prep tutor for motivated students — students have come from as far away as Oregon to be tutored.
