McNeedles specializes in yarn and accessories for the knitter or crocheter. We offer classes for all levels of expertise as well as tech support. Our yarn specialists are always happy to help pick out yarn for a new project!

We also offer needles, hooks, notions of every kind and project bags in various sizes.

History

Established in 2008.

McNeedles exists in a picturesque 110+ year old renovated shotgun home, situated on beautiful grounds with live oaks strewn on the property.

Born from a love of color and fiber, McNeedles offers yarn in all weights, from the very fine to super bulky and everything else in between.

I learned to knit as a child but did not keep up with it. I was reintroduced to knitting in the Spring of 2005 and life hasn’t been the same since!

I have resided in St. Tammany Parish since 1986 and currently live just 10 minutes from the shop.

I have had successful careers in real estate as well as nursing prior to the ownership of McNeedles.

Stopped by for yarn for a scarf I’m making for my best friend for Christmas. New Orleans is one of her favorite places so I think yarn from the area will make the scarf that much more special. I searched for a yarn shop in NOLA but this one was the only shop that interested me. So it will be yarn from «near New Orleans» =)
I believe that the owner was there when my husband and I stopped by yesterday. We were greeted immediately and enthusiastically by a beautiful little Sheltie and then by the owner soon after. She was very helpful. I had previously written down options for the pattern I’m using and she helped my find exactly what I need.
While she wound my yarn we looked around and tried to befriend her dog (unsuccessful). This shop is pretty nice. It is in an old building, is well-​lit, and is well stocked. Prices are comparable to prices I’ve seen at other local yarn stores.
I would definitely recommend McNeedle’s and would definitely shop here often if I lived in the area.

Best selection of yarn in the area and worth the drive across the lake. Great selection of yarn from basic knitting supplies to higher end fiber. Lots of accessories for knitting and a knowledgeable staff.

Visited during my last NOLA trip. Loved it. Perfect LYS. Great service, great selection of yarns, I browsed for about an hour before dropping nearly $ 100 on «souvenir» yarn. Can’t wait to visit again, and I will, despite living 20 hours away.
