Sylvania Tree Farm

I can’t get over the beauty and perfection of the camp site we just left! We stayed in Spot 6 which is perfect for kids because there is a wading area secluded from the rapid river by an island. The kids played and splashed and built rock forts. They loved it!
The site is on sandy soil, which makes it easy to pitch a tent. It is clean and well maintained.
This is a little pricier than state parks because it is privately owned but well worth it! Some of the state camp grounds can feel like you’re camping in a parking lot. Not this one! It was such a privilege to get to stay in this heavenly corner of nature! Will definitely return! No one take Spot 6 when we do!

I stayed on a campsite at Sylvania Tree Farm with a group of friends during Labor Day Weekend 2014 and we can’t stop raving about how much we loved this place!
Jane and her family were very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating upon arrival. They escorted us to our site which was located only a short drive away from the entrance. After making sure we were all set, they left us to enjoy the rest of our weekend.
The site itself was spacious and secluded from the other campers within a close walk to the bathroom facilities. The Delaware river was in our backyard and the scenery was picturesque. There was a fire pit and two picnic tables set up for your convenience. The only animals we encountered were friendly Bambi’s, fuzzy caterpillar friends, and the usual pesty mosquitoes. There were no Pooh Bears or any of the like which made our stay all the more relaxing.
I’ve done my fair share of camping and I can attest to the fact their bathrooms are super clean for camping standards! The hot showers in their facilities, despite costing a small fortune in quarters ($ 1.50 for 3 mins) are an added bonus. It became our daily challenge to beat the clock and served as a reminder to «be green». The owners even came to remove our garbage from the site!
Prepare to be cut off from civilization and become one with nature (unless you have Verizon or Sprint service. I have AT&T and did not have service until I was a good 5 miles past the camp grounds). All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and plan to return. I highly recommend this site to all ‘glampers’ (glamour campers) and beginners.

This past weekend my husband and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary and stood at Bluestone cabin with another couple. We had a WONDERFUL, AMAZING time! Bluestone is the newest cabin and boy was it perfect! 2bed, 2bath, beautiful kitchen, amazing fireplaces and a hot tub. John and Jane are just the nicest, most helpful people. The cabins are situated on over 1,000 aces of the McKay’s property and the trails are just spectacular. Trails range from difficult to easy and are clearly marked. Lackawaxen is a beautiful little town, and you’re only 5 miles from the nearest shopping center (in case you forget the salad dressing like I did). You definitely need to bring groceries… even if you do eat out… again, nearest town is 5 miles away. There’s plenty to do, if you’d prefer not to relax and soak up the GORGEOUS scenery. I got back on Sunday and I’ve already reserved my weekend for 2014. Thanks to the McKay’s for making it wonderful weekend. Love Sylvania Tree Farms!

Just stayed at the beautiful Two Bridges Cabin. It was GREAT! The cabin is a luxury cabin-​the kitchen is better than mine at home! Perfect place for a romantic weekend away.
Really was one of the best vacations I’ve ever been on.
Great owners-​who really walk you through it and are there if you need them, but make themselves scarce for your privacy.
Beautiful and AMAZING views at Two Bridges. Loved waking up and seeing and hearing the river.
Nice trails-​clearly marked and there are different levels depending on your level of fitness. But the easy trail-​still was a great hike. I have a bum foot, so was limited on what I could do. The River Trail was beautiful and had great views.
No cell phone or Internet-​I thought I would freak, but I found it so relaxing to be able to really get away. I’m a complete email junkie-​and I LOVED it.
The cabin I was in-​Two Bridges was very clean and was decorated beautifully and understated. And in floor heat! Fireplace was dual bedroom and living room and was very easy to work with the included firewood.
I really loved it here! And-​already planning a trip back!

I’ve been holding out on you, Unilocal.
When I was 8, what I wanted more than ANYTHING was a set of fashion plates. You know, make the outfit, rub the crayon on the paper, color in with *glitter* crayons. This is what little girls’ dreams are made of.
Santa pulled through, but mom made me share. It sucked, I cried.
I don’t like sharing.
But Sylvania is simply too good to not share. We’ve stayed twice.
Pros:
— Amazing amazing amazing property. 1200 pristine acres for guests to visit. Clearly marked hiking trails and some of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen.
— The proprietors are kind, welcoming people who genuinely seem to enjoy having guests.
— The cabins are little luxury slices of heaven and incredibly clean.
— If I did nothing else but sit in the whirlpool tub, and enjoy the view; I could die a happy woman.
Cons:
— Not a one with the property. The surrounding towns are a bit far, and groceries are more difficult to come by. I highly recommend bringing food with you. Its just more relaxing that way.
Check out the Woodstock Museum in Bethel Woods. Its a riot. And Breakfast at the Milford Diner is always fun.

We stayed here over new year’s eve. We were in a beautiful 100+ year old house (the Lehman house) with a full kitchen, fire place, TV, and 3 bedrooms. Why the tree farm rocks:
– Several great hiking trails within a mile of the house
– Proprietors provide firewood as you need
– Houses are clean and thoughtfully decorated
The house sits on a 1,200 acre tree farm (i.e., you get peace & quiet). If you go, we highly recommend bringing food & drinks to the house — think the best use of your time out there should be spent hiking and around a fire.
