ABUSE WARNING
Small Wonder’s Child Care on College Street in Lacey, WA is not a place parents feel safe leaving their children while they are at work. While dropping my daughter off for day care this morning, I walked into the child care facility to witness a «teacher» grabbing a little boy by the arm and screaming at him to stand up. The child was crying and wriggling in pain as she repeatedly screamed at him to stand up. She then stood up and picked up the little boy by the arm completely off the ground, so he hung suspended by one arm in the air. He continued screaming and wriggling. She then dropped him down to the floor and picked him up again in the same manner. The second time she then dragged and carried him by the arm down the hall to another classroom location. The entire time the little boy was screaming and trying to get away. When she released his arm, his entire arm was red and her finger indentations had been left where she had been grabbing at him. This boy was small enough she could have easily picked him up using safe methods. I called CPS and filed a report. I also called the owner of Small Wonders, Reneé, to file a complaint. In addition to making excuse after excuse for her «teacher’s» actions, it came up that the «teacher» did nothing wrong and it wasn’t abuse because she picked up via his waist. When I told her that this was inaccurate and repeated what had happened, her excuse was then that the mother of the child was ok with it. 1. This IS child abuse. 2. Even if it wasn’t, it is completely inappropriate for any day care facility to treat any child in such a manner, they are not parents they are a care facility where children go to be safe while parents work. This is not a place that provides nurturing or security to children, this is a place that allows «teachers» to treat children in any way they feel and then lie to get away with it. You can guarantee my child is no longer attending. So if you’re looking for a place that will give you peace of mind while you are working and knowing your children are safe and loved, AVOID SMALL WONDERS.
