Lacey Timberland Library

Such a cute little library tucked away in what feels like Yosemite Park to me. Lacey library reminds me of the library I grew up with — small enough to be comfortable but modern enough to offer online borrowing and e-​books that can be downloaded onto your kindle. The process to get a library card was quick and we were able to borrow books right away. The library also offers residents great perks like free photocopying and printing — always a plus!

I have only been to the Olympia library so far living here, I recently moved in lacey and wanted to check this location out. I stopped in and it was very nice, high open ceilings, I walked around to get a feel. They have a great kids section area, they have a room where they hold events. They have everything from movies, cds, books on tape, magazines, newpapers and of course many books. Great about timberland, you can look up online and reserve and they let you know when it arrives by email or phone, however you set it up. Long check out time, ohh and this location is very organized. They also have space to read or use the internet and study. And easy self check out.

First time visiting & loved it. Staff was very helpful & the selection seemed never ending! My kids loved all the options they had available.

The Good:

The bad:
The staff are a bit curt IMO. I moved here and went to get a card and was confused as there was both a front desk and an information desk. We had to show something with our address on it which was weird cause they didn’t care what.
The DVD selection is severely lacking.
All in all a good and efficient library.

I’ve been to this location a few times over the past couple of months. It’s a smaller branch, but it has a nice selection. I wish it opened a little earlier than 10am, but it’s not a huge deal. One thing I like is the self-​checkout feature. This allows you to check out books without waiting in line for a librarian to assist you. The typical rental for books is three weeks, so that’s a good amount of time to borrow a book. The parking is somewhat limited, and the lot can get crowded. There is an after hours book drop that you can drive up to.

I have been going to the Lacey Timberland Library for 23 years. This was the first place I got a library card. It’s a good place to spend the day looking for books to read. It’s a nice size and a good place to come with children during rainy days. A person can check out up to 50 books at a time. I’ve certainly been tempted to do this!
Lacey Timberland Library has saved me so much money over the years. Having a chance to browse books is great when deciding if you want to buy your own copy. They also have taken all of the gently used books and trade paperback comics I donated.
I love this place and visit often. I’m definitely a fan.

What to say about a library?
Well, the Lacey library is quaint. Small, easy to navigate and moderate selection.
The parking is weird. I think they would have done better with angled parking. Plus, there aren’t enough spots so that have signs all over the place telling you to park near the police station or city hall or back in the wilderness.
It has pretty decent hours, although I wish it was open a little later on the weekends.
It doesn’t smell as bad as it used to. I think there were a lot of homeless people that would come in, and the place would smell a little, but I guess maybe that was an expressed concern so I guess it has been nipped in the bud?
I like that I can get items that the Lacey branch doesn’t have shipped to Lacey from other branches in the Timberland library system. Also, they have a drive up book drop. All this makes going to the library more convenient.
They’ve got wifi and it’s pretty quick and I don’t believe a password is needed. It’s moderately quiet, the staff are always friendly, and they’ve got self checkouts so you don’t have to wait in line.
I also like that the library is nestled amongst nature, altough that may make it hard to see or find if you’re driving down College St and you’re not from the area.
One more thing is that it’s a really safe area since it’s right next to police station/​city hall.

If you use the online much (and I assume you aren’t reading this review on a printout that someone handed you) you can use the regional system of branches to find most anything that you are looking for, if you are flexible with your reading schedule.
And, with all of those internet stations, how on earth am I the first one to review this place?
It’s right next to the police station, so don’t speed to get here and use your turn signals.
