I had no idea a bargain store was nestled on the David & Margaret campus. A friend told me about it, and I wasn’t quite sure whether to believe a store that sold loaves of bread for 50 cents really existed. I searched the internet, and found a couple of articles that stated there was indeed such a place. Turns out they don’t do any advertising and rely only on word of mouth.
They sell all sorts of things from foods to clothes to Florsheim shoes to furniture to skis. It’s whatever they happen to get donated to their facility. Stores will donate their surplus to them, and some of the stuff they can use and others they can’t. So they sell these donations at bargain prices to help fund the Youth home.
I bought sunblock for $ 1 and allergy eye drops for $ 2 (they usually cost about $ 10). They had loaves of bread for 50 cents, and ginormous pumpkin pies for $ 1. They had large vats of ginger ice cream for $ 6, and brand new mens dress shoes for $ 75 (regularly priced at $ 150).
Keep in mind their stock constantly changes based on what’s been donated, so you’re always in for a surprise.
