Very nice office, everyone was so nice and helpful the dr made me feel so comfortable. I haven’t been to the optometrist in over 12 years.. They have a very large variety of name brand glasses to choose from. I definitely recommend this optometrist. :)

This is a wonderful place to get designer glasses. The doctors here are great and so is the staff. I came during December to get new glasses and I love the pair I chose. They have such a wide variety!

Dr. Chong is excellent! He’s incredibly nice and really funny. Everyone was very friendly and they helped me pick out a pair of glasses that were cute and fit my budget! No hard sales push at all! I am definitely coming back for some sunglasses soon.
Thank you Dr. Chong, you made my tired eyes feel better and brighten my day with the beautiful roses you gave me. I can’t say I’ve ever had such a wonderful eye exam until today!

Came on a Saturday morning as a walk-​in. I’ve been here once before. Years back in fact (long overdue). Anyway, I decided to come back to Dr Chong’s office because my last experience was not bad at all. Sure the office could use a little cleaning up, but it’s not messy to the point that I feel the doctor cannot do his job in providing my eyes the care and attention that they deserve. Dr Chong is a very personable guy! Easy to talk to and actually makes conversation with you.
For this second time around I was not examined by Dr Chong himself, but by a new doctor whom I’ve never seen before. I didn’t mind though. He looks pretty young. I’d guess he’s a few years out of med school. Nothing wrong with that in my book though! He was thorough and as attentive as Dr Chong. After my eye exam was complete, I was shown a rather large selection of glasses. The attendant was nice and allowed me to take as much time as I needed on deciding which pair best suited my face and most importantly, my budget!
After taking a few selfies, texting some friends and family members, finally ending with a facetime call lol I decided on a pair that the attendant recommended to begin with! haha. All in all I’m once again pleased with my service at Dr Chong’s office and will continue to bring my business here!

The optometrist was helpful and, pleasant. Came in to get eyes checked and, learned a few things about my eyes. Nothing too fancy gets the job done, which should be all that matters in the end.

Reading the reviews here and although I agree with most comments, Dr. Office is very messy, some assistants a bit rude, and they seem to rush you a lot. I have always come back to this office. The service is ok but the dr. Really knows his stuff and a good eye doctor is hard to come by.
One thing though dr. Gives me a weird feeling sometimes but I just take someone with me into the office and all’s good.(girls understand that one)

OMG. It took them so long to answer the phone it was unbelievable! Than when the receptionist finally answered she put me on hold right away. She was not friendly at all! I need contacts but this one phone call just to check how much an eye exam was, was enough for me to know I DON’T want to come here! So rude!

The place was cramped with a lot of people, do they not know how to arrange appointments in a day? There was also no sort of entertainment for the children that go there. At least provide some TV with a movie and/​or a little activity table for the kids!
The optometrists and desk ladies are nice at first, but time come for the exam everything felt a bit rushed. Dr. Chong’s exam office was so messy… why…why would you make your patients go in there?! So very unprofessional, especially in a health field. I also felt the optometrist was a bit rushy and discouraged my friend from contact lenses without more reasons besides the «it takes more time». No shit, but he wanted to know more cons then just that. Basically he tested my friend, gave us his prescription, and then called his assistant who offers all kinds of glasses. We weren’t interested and I just asked her to verify the prescription with me (since I don’t know prescriptions of visions very well) and she just said «it’s what’s written» and shooed us off.
The prescriptions only had the six numbers, Right and Left. But it doesn’t say what the other two numbers are except the OD and OR. How the f*ck can newbies know this prescription with all the numbers?! Luckily someone OUTSIDE of this clinic was able to tell me since she orders glasses a lot for herself and know how the numbers go. Would of been nice to hear it from the clinic itself :/​

Don’t come here! Rip off!!! Dr is ok, nice, the exam is in his messy office, once you get to order the glasses they seem money hungry, not rude people but not the best either! HERE IS THE WORST PART!!! I bought some Coach glasses, paid the difference that the insurance wouldn’t cover, so here’s my surprise when they arrive and I go to pick them up, they give me my glasses and an ugly regular case!!! When I asked for the coach case they said that was separate it was not included and paid $ 15 for the case, the following year I went to another doctor and I asked about the cases as I told them what happen, they were confuse they would do something like that since they case should come with glasses!!! I didn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend anyone to go here, I know for some this issue might seem like no big deal specially because it was only $ 15, but to me is not the amount of money but the fact that they would do something like that for extra cash!!! Too bad I can’t give zero starts

Dr. Chong and his staff is amazing!!! After seeing many Doctors thought the years he figured what I had less than an hour. I have Ketaroconus which is a condition that weakens my cornea and thins out becoming irregular in shape, thus distorting my vision. So he advised that I need special hard contact lenses so he took a lot of his time trying about ten pairs on me until I was able to find the right fit. Erica who is one of his assistants was such a sweetheart throughout the whole process and was very gentle. I knew about Dr. Chong for many years but never really thought about coming until now, I wish I would’ve seen him sooner.
He is also quite a character and he is funny and knows spanish. He also has highly respectable and famous clients. My loyalty stays with Dr. Chong and I highly recommend him to anybody looking for a great Dr with 30yrs of work.
Disregard the negative reviews. Give him a try!

I REALLY like coming here to get my eye exams! Dr. Chong is really nice and takes his time giving you an exam. I have been coming here since I was 12 years old. I recently brought my husband for dry eyes and he was treated just as nice and courteous, he did not try to push glasses on my husband because he would only need them for reading and gave him eye drops instead. I am currently waiting for my glasses he has a big variety of them! Only thing is they were choosing the glasses for me and not letting me look for myself so it kind of felt like they were pushing me to choose certain ones so just he firm with them and tell them what YOU want. The employees were nice not super friendly but not disrespectful either. All in all I love this optometrist and will continue to come here for my follow ups.

This guy is so self absorbed, mean and rough! I mentioned to him that my glasses needed to be lower on my nose because my eyelashes (natural). I pulled the glasses down and he shoved them very hard up on my nose.
Then, his counter girl Norma is soooooo obvious on «selling» a certain brand and/​or style to the client (namely me). I was deciding between two different pair of frames and she asked her co-​worker which ones she thought were nicer. I put on one pair then the 2^nd pair. When I put the second pair on she tapped her nose and looked at her co-​worker who then said she liked the second pair.
I will NEVER EVER return to this place! I also wonder if he is selling knock off brands? Horrible, gross, disgusting, low class, obtuse people including Dr. Chong and Norma!

His office and all I could say I was not disappointed I love the way cares about all his patients… I am going to set up a appointment for myself.

Dr. Chong gave me the right prescription in about 10 minutes which may not be amazing to you but this was after three eye doctors couldn’t get it right. One doctor said it just could correct anymore.
Dr. Chong got my vision to ²⁰⁄₂₀. He is an excellent optometrist. He’s quick and knows what he’s doing.
The staff is helpful.
Pricing is reasonable.
I had new progressive bifocal glasses in a couple of days. Standard glasses take an hour.

Prior to visiting Dr. Chongs office, I had never really been to an optometrist to have my eyes checked but I definitely knew I needed some type of glasses. I showed up as a walk in and was immediately helped. Within an hour I had my prescription and frames picked out. My glasses came in pretty quick too! Two days later I was up and running with my new frames! I repair computers for a living so my eyes are constantly focused on a computer screen which i would have a hard time focusing on, but thanks to the fast and friendly service over at Dr. Chongs, I no longer have to worry about that affecting my work flow. Woo! (:

The best eye doctor ever. I don’t have that difficult of a prescription but I need to have my eyes checked. Dr Chong was kind and looked at everything carefully. I am so thankful to have him as my doctor. He is affordable and works with your insurance.

Went there yesterday after a 4-​year hiatus. Still a great staff. I’ve been going here for 15 years now. Doesn’t matter where I moved to, this has always been my doctor of choice. Sadly, the last couple of times I went, I wasn’t examined by Dr. Chong. His associate (sorry, forgot his name) was friendly and professional enough, but no one compares to Dr. Chong. I remember when I first went, I was hooked by how friendly the Dr. was. That was when I decided I wasn’t going to go anywhere else for as long as he had an office. Prices are average. I don’t have insurance, but its not terribly burdening on my wallet.

Dr. Chong and his staff provide phenomenal customer service. My mom has been going here for years and we both live in Santa Monica… On Dec 31^st I realized I needed to use my insurance or I would loose it, so we rush down to La Puente to see if the Dr. could help me out with some glasses. We called ahead of time and they said they were closing early @ 5p because of the holiday (New Years Eve). I think we got there like right at 4:30 and they had no problem taking both of us. I got a eye exam, regular contacts, and color contacts all in about 1 hour. I never had contacts before, and the young ladies were so nice an patient enough to teach me how to put the contacts on AND take them out! I really like this doctors office, the staff is nice, they have a great selection of glasses and I will definitely be back for my next pair of glasses! Thanks Dr. Chong…
Oh, did I mention… He ALWAYS gives out roses to his patients everyday!!! Talk about going above and beyond!

Found Dr. Chong randomly through google, good thing though because I have to say he is the best Optometrist I have ever been to. I have never had such a thorough eye exam in my life, I also felt like he really cared about the health of my eyes, recommending looser fitting contacts that will help oxygenate my eyes.
I went to get a contact lens exam, and left with a new pair of glasses, because I really liked my visit and felt like I’d rather support them than other places. I will never ever go to Costco again.
The staff is friendly and I got my glasses the next day. Also, there was a great selection of frames.

Great prices. Full staff. Overall great service! Dr. Chong is one funny guy! Great frame selection and he often has great specials. I got 2 pairs of hard contacts for the price of one and 4 bottles of solution for a good price!
Walks-​ins are welcomed but if you get there too late be prepared to wait a little while. I try to get there right when it opens on Saturday morning!
Usually glasses are 1-​hour only if you pay out of pocket. If you’re going through your insurance, be prepared to wait a week or so for them. Contacts are instant if you don’t go through your insurance as well!
I won’t stop going here as long as i live in the area!
