Skyline Motors

Before I make my contribution to this already-​questionable establishment’s Unilocal page, let me first provide links to websites that I use for running VINs. These two websites are FREE to use, so use them! It is mandatory that you run the VINs whenever you’re considering a used car that looks even slightly suspicious.
In the case of Skyline Motors, their entire inventory is or should be subject to scrutiny.
I spend a lot of time looking at Craigslist, CPO inventories, and used cars in general. I look for certain cars that I’m very familiar with in terms of pricing. Like many of the other reviewers, I too saw a car on their website and thought «Damn, that’s a good deal and I really want it».
That’s about as good as it gets. When I see a car whose price I know is much lower than what it should be, the first thing that goes through my head is
«The car is salvage.»
Then I look at the title information to verify. Sellers should list the title status, clean or otherwise. Skyline Motors DOES NOT list title status. They didn’t list it for my car, they didn’t list it for the other Unilocalers’ cars, and I highly doubt they’ll list for their future cars.
But it hardly matters. A person looking at Skyline Motor’s inventory should just assume everything is salvage. It’s the only explanation for their discounted pricing.
Run the VIN on the 2 websites I provided if there’s no title status.
No VIN provided? Ask for it!
The seller won’t give it to you? NOPE THE FUCK OUT OF THERE!
That seller has something to hide and you certainly don’t want to grab the shit end of the stick.
Now, on to the main reason I gave 2 star.
I ran the VIN, and found that the car I was interested in was indeed salvage (whaddya know?) and also reported in two accidents within the span of 2 months.
Knowing that the car I was looking at was salvaged and reported in two accidents within two months (likely more with that kind of driving history), I gave Skyline Motors a phone call and spoke with Kareem. He was polite and answered my questions to the best of his ability.
That deserves 2 stars.
He told me that the car I was interested in was the all of the following; 1) Picked up from an auction 2) Salvage due to theft 3) Not salvaged from an accident 4) Was going to gone over in a paint shop but ultimately didn’t.
Statement 1 confirms the sketchy origins of their inventory.
Statement 2 is true in that the car is salvage, but false in that the cause was theft. My report had shown me that the car was salvage due to an accident, and not involved in theft.
Statement 3 is not true (see Statement 2), and I’m not sure if Kareem knew and lied to me, or if Skyline Motors truly doesn’t know the histories of their vehicles, both of which are indicators of a poor seller/​dealer.
Statement 4 indicates to me that Skyline Motors knows people who paint cars and do body work. And chances are they probably know nearby repair shops as well. No surprises there, but this means that A) The car was gone over, but Kareem didn’t inform me of problems besides the imperfect paint or B) The car was not gone over, which indicates seller negligence.
A car with clean paint will always be more attractive than a car with scratches and dings.
To conclude: Skyline Motors is a legitimate business. However, they aren’t completely honest (whether its because they know the truth and choose not to tell it, or they simply don’t know their cars’ histories) and are trying to sell salvaged cars that may or may not be more than they’re worth. Kareem was pleasant to speak with.

This place is one of those creepy used car lots you hear about, or you are warned about so much by previous victims. I went there to look at a 2014 BMW, price was a bit high, and when I got to the lot nobody greeted me for about 20, 25 mins., and to top it off, finally after a good 20 mins I get a greeting along with the great news that the car I drove for one and a half hours to possibly buy, is a salvage… Fine, fine, went out for a quick test drive, I am ASE1,2,3 certified tech, not the highest, but I know a bit about cars, of course I didn’t tell this to Mr. Paiman, the guy that finally greeted me. Anywho, something with the engine I couldn’t put my finger on, I only drove the car to the StarBucks down the street, but the engine sounded like an old VW bug, but even then, I figured we’ll go sit down with Paiman and talk numbers, the car’s sticker price was 25k plus a couple of hundred dollars out the door tax/​lic., he would only take off 200, and made it sound like it was such a bargain; forget the fact they lured me with promises such as, «since you are paying cash we will work great numbers with you», forget the fact they lured me by not mentioning anywhere in their ads or on the phone that the car I was interested in, was a salvage. I am not sure what nationality these guys are, definitely Middle Eastern, but you can definitely get the feeling they have not transition from their land to America. American business is based on, «excellent customer service», and «never, ever, let a sale walk», don’t follow these, you are doomed to fail, specially in the used car business.

ASK FOR CAR FAX…
Long story short we thought this place was run by genuine and cool people. After talking numbers about a vehicle, that he clearly stated multiple times is a pristine vehicle for the price, we decided to think about it over night. In between this, another dealership we visited asked us what vehicles we were interested in (Audi a4 from Skyline Motors) so he ran the car fax. It came up with multiple issues to FRAME and more from different states. This is a shady thing to see on any vehicle, specially when told it’s pristine.
Don’t let them feed you, this is one of those dealerships you need to watch out for, or just avoid over all. Good luck.

I do not usually write reviews, unless they are very good or in this case VERY BAD. First of all let me start by saying this place is shady. Listen to all the bad reviews already on here!
I went in a few days ago to look at a 2011 Audi A4, it had low mileage and looked very clean overall. My initial experience was of a very unprofessional man, Kareem. When we arrived we were outside for about 15min just walking around before he even came over to acknowledge us (and this place is a very small lot.) When he finally came over he wasn’t very talkative and he seemed to act as if we were in need of his business. I didn’t give it much thought because I really wanted to test drive the car first. When I got back from doing so, I asked him to talk numbers with me. We went into his office and had several few conversations as he was crunching the numbers. I have experience buying vehicles and was not ready to cave in. I had a fixed number in my head that was apparently not something he could work with. After about 30 minutes of back and forth or so I was getting ready to leave when he mentioned he would be getting the exact same car but salvaged title in the upcoming week and he could do that car for even less than what I wanted to pay. I personally do not care for salvaged titles and although his best efforts to persuade me otherwise, I let him know I would never buy a salvaged car.
I ended up leaving that day to think about the deal with a plan to return in a few days. Well the next day I went to a different but this time certified pre owned dealership to look at some of their Audi’s. After mentioning the previous vehicle I was considering to purchase from Skyline Motors, the gentlemen helping me (whom I know wanted to make a deal with us too) offered to show me both vehicles car fax. Much to my surprise I learned that the Audi A4 was most definitely NOT a clean title and Kareem was just saying as much as he needed to say. Yes he didn’t lie to us but he did in fact omit very important details of the car when making us a deal. This is a SHADY BUSINESS! So be smart about your purchase people and so your research first!

A couple weeks ago i walked into here because i saw two really nice cars i wanted to test drive and possibley buy. The dude who was there kept rejecting my offer to test drive the cars which were both salvaged. The most Shady car dealership ive ever went to! they even said they had the car fax, but wouldnt show them to me. It really pissed me off how they wouldnt let me test drive them, but then i went to LEGACY CARS in El Cajon and they hooked me up with a AWESOME deal!!! Forget this place, go to Legacy Cars!!!

Following along with the terrible reviews of this place. I purchased a vehicle as well it is a 2008 Infiniti g35. I just read one of the previous reviews that stated it was said to have a clean title. I was never told or showed that the vehicle had a salvage title. But only to find out later that it does. These people are the shadiest pieces of crap I have ever come in contact with. I have now put more money into this car to keep it running then what it is worth. It has no trade in value so I am now stuck paying in a vehicle that with be garaged till I can afford another car. Skyline is only in the business of screwing up their customers lives and making them broke. Thank you for this burden skyline motors

Nice guys, but at the same time, comes off shady. But just like any sales man, they’ll tell you they can’t take anything off the price they want to sell it for. You just have to know how to play the game.
They do have a nice selection of cars though. And just keep in mind, their cars are bought at auction/​have salvaged titles. If you’re OK with that, then stop by here. Their cars look good and drive well.

Advertised as a «Clean Title, Never in Accident and Immaculate Condition» Only to drive there, waste my gas and time pointing out all the damage (s) i found with the car and «Oh by the way, it’s a Salvage Title», I didn’t see the listing myself ~explained the sales person. Would NOT recommend this Stealership.

I called about the 2004 M3 that they have posted on their site. The sale person told me that the car has never been in an accident but the salvage title was for theft, which understandable since insurance company do issue salvage title due to theft. So i search the inner web and found
and there are pictures that said otherwise. DON’T TRUST THIS PLACE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.

PEOPLE, HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT PAYING 8000 FOR A 99′ SALVAGED TITLE TOYOTA 4RUNNER.
for that asking price, anybody will assume it’s a clean title car.
kbb values it for about 4500 in excellent condition– clean title of course.
who wants to work with a dealership that’s not upfront with their customers from the beginning anyways? you guys couldnt have simply said, oh btw it’s a salvage title, when i was negotiating with you on the price and asking about it’s condition?

Just stopped by today. They have multiple listings for used luxury cars. I went to see only 2 cars and both were salvage titles and the listings never mentioned it. Kind of an important detail to leave off of both listings… This place preys on those who don’t know better so just be aware and ask the right questions if you are going to purchase from Skyline.

I truly believe these guys would try to sell at any cost to the buyer. I came into look at a truck I saw on the auto trader web site in which there was no mention of a salvage title. That I learned once I arrived at the lot where one of the owners really down played the severity of this title telling me that it was just in a minor accident and the only thing wrong was the back bumper that they replaced and a minor dent in the back quarter panel. This just did not seem very likely to me, so I took the truck to have a pre– purchase inspection. My mechanic left the truck on the rack to show me that the frame was bent two inches from the left to the right side, the motor mount on the passenger side was bent forward as well. It was obvious that this truck was in a major accident and was worthy of the salvage title it was holding. The asking price was almost $ 7,000 with tax and license a good deal if there were no major damages. I have a hard time believing that this place is able to stay in operation and that this could even be legal. If they would have been honest I would have saved $ 60.00 to find out what they already knew. I hope I am the only one who during this rough economy sucked into this deal to good to be true.

This is the shadiest used car establishment in California, I purchased a 2007 Mercedes Benz C230 from the owner, he made it very clear to me that it had a clean title and it was advertised the same, I later found out that it had a salvaged title, and was in a big accident, and when I was signing the papers the owner covered every piece of paper with his hand wherever it said «Salvaged» I contacted the owner and he told me that it was too late and he claimed that he told me when he never did. He also promised to give me a spare tire and a spare key for the car, and I never received anything. I have had many problems with the car, I have had to replace the battery, change all the tires, there was a crack in the engine which cost me over $ 4000 to fix. I was also told that I had a 100,000 mile warranty when I had the warranty only for 30,000 miles. I have tried to get in contact with this dealership for over 3 months and I have yet to get a response. DO NOT BUY YOUR CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!!

I got a great deal on a used car. The deal went fine but these guys pulled an old trick out the bag. When I made my first offer he pretended to call his Father (acting as the big owner) as part of the negociation. After he got off the phone, I gave him a ridiculous offer. I couple minutes later his phone rang and he said, «I’m sorry, I’m in the process of selling that car» and hung up. As if this was going to pressure anyone making a deal. He met me half way. The good part is when I said I was going to think about over lunch, he accepted my ridiculous offer which was $ 10k off a 1 year old car.
I was very pleased with the car and the deal was even sweeter!
