San Diego Myofascial Release is owned and founded by Shannon Whitall, a seasoned therapist with almost 15 years experience in the industry of bodywork. Shannon combines strength, confidence and superior skill, with compassion and warmth. Having trained with John F Barnes, learning his regsitered Myofascial Release Approach, and with a background as a physical therapy aid, a chiropractic assistant, to being the lead therapist at local high end day spa, Shannon combined her passion for genuine healing with her fondness for the ambiance of day spas. This has made SDMFR a San Diego hidden treasure and a rising star among competitors!

I’d never done myofascial release before, but Kelly was very helpful at putting me at ease and explaining this new (to me at least) treatment. I can tell you the results are nothing short of miraculous. I’m told everyone’s reactions are unique to them, but this absolutely helped when nothing else did. My ailment was a very painful and stiff neck/​shoulder area that had been bothering me for about 3 weeks and seemingly came out of nowhere. In the morning I was in so much pain I couldn’t even lift my head off the pillow.
I was getting desperate after regular massage, acupuncture, new pillows, new mattress pad, and multiple visits to kaiser permanete (they even took x-​rays) couldn’t help explain what was going on! Amazingly, after 2 sessions (over about 3 weeks) I’m now completely back to normal. I already recommended Kelly to a friend with back problems and will be spending my money here next time I have any type of muscular related issue rather then giving my money to Kaiser for absolutely no results! Highly recommended!

As I professional Videographer, I carry a heavy camera on my right shoulder and spend long hours in front of a computer editing video. I’m also an active surfer, both activities are pretty rough on my body.
I’m always seeking out for ways to manage pain and tension that have built on my body as a result of my job and recreational activities.
I was referred to Shannon by a friend who is a professional dancer and a huge advocate of San Diego Myofascial Release. She said that this therapy has been able to help her incredibly, like nothing else she has previously tried.
I recently had my first visit to San Diego Myofascial Release, the office looks amazing! Shannon is very kind and professional, she made me feel very comfortable from the minute I walked in. After explaining how Myofascial Release works, she took a closer look at my posture and the structure of my body. She immediately began to do her magic. After the session I felt very relaxed and pain free! To maximize the effect of the work done and to prevent from having any post therapy discomfort, I went to Cocoon Float Spa and soaked in epson salt, fantastic combo!
Over the next few days I felt a reduction in muscle tension and improvement in mobility. I already booked my next appointment and will definitely recommend this place to anyone seeking for more specific work other than a regular massage.

Shannon has been my massage therapist for almost three years and I go to her weekly. It’s time you treated yourself… really!
I have been getting massages from Shannon for about two or three years. I sought out her services after recovering from a car accident, to deal with some lingering back pain.
Shannon is professional and never pushes you out of your comfort zone. She is concious about your privacy, so if you have never had a massage, She is a great person to do your first appointment.
Her location may be a little hard to find, but you will find that it is worth it. She always shares new products and techniques with me and I appreciate that! Today she gave me a papaya pineapple scrub on my feet and made these forty-​something year old feet look 20 again. Just what I needed to kick off my summer. :)
Shannon is very popular, so sometimes it is hard to get an appointment within a week, so plan ahead.
I won’t go to anyone else ever again, she’s that good!
