Very long wait. People move so slow here. Not very pleasant, especially when you have a full bladder. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment.

No stars for the La Mesa office. Only giving one because this site makes me add a star.
The lab tech must not have had his morning cup of Java. Cold as ice and very unhappy. The Tech was rude and grumpy! What happened to this place ?
Last year they had a very pleasant tech and did the job. Bye bye la Mesa I won’t come be going back or will not refer any people to your location.
I am in the health profession and understand costumer service and compassion.

Although this looked nicer than the other Quest Labs, it’s very poorly mis-​managed. I went here after being scared away from the 4^th Ave. lab but was disappointed from the start. While I was waiting, there was a gentleman that had made an appointment and driven down from Oceanside to show up to be told that the employee that preforms the special test he needed was off that day. Why would you schedule him then??? So then they sent him (without an appointment) to Chula Vista, another 20 — 30 minutes away.
The lady that drew my blood was nice — so the 1 star is deserving, but Quest messed up the billing completely. They duplicated part of the test without getting it pre-​authorized first, and on top of the $ 272.49 towards my deductible they’re sticking me with the remaining balance! My oncologist and my benefits counselor all state that I do not owe that amount (it’s actually illegal in California to do Balance Billing), and unfortunately my oncologist said they’re doing this to thousands of (cancer) patients. I’ve tried calling multiple times but no one ever seems to know as they’ll state the additional $ 249.50 they’re trying to charge is «a deductible, co-​pay or something». Yet Aetna states outright that they did not follow SOPs by getting it pre-​authorized and they deemed it unnecessary. So now I’ve been having collections call me twice a day.

Two clients in the waiting room and three employees sitting around talking about what sporting event they are going to bet on.

This is one of the worst labs out there ! I have a standing order to get my blood checked and every time its the same story ! «Who are you, why are you here? Can we see you insurance proof «If uou come in at 1:00 you have to wait untill the rest of the office strolls back in at 1:35 +1:40 !
Nobody seems to care here at all !!!

Horrible horrible horrible. Didn’t pay attention to appointment times at all and employees were not friendly. I wasn’t expecting great service, but basic common courtesy would have been nice. Cannot believe that this place is still in business at this location

I bought 3 tests online and chose Quest Diagnostics to do the test. When I went to Quest to have the tests done, the people in the lab had no clue what is going on.
Long end of the story, the partner OnLine Testing and Quest do not communicate well to let those involved what to do. This equates to customer dissatisfaction.

I was required to partake in a drug screening for employment recently and was given this location as it was the closest to me. The paperwork I was given showed a website to setup an appointment for the following week, but the website would just not work for me. I decided to go to the location and sit on the waiting list until something opened.
Upon arrival, the place was pretty empty. There was one person in the lobby but nobody at the front desk. I signed in and about 10 mins later, a tech came out and asked for my ID and paperwork. It seemed like they were waiting on a few other people in the back and said that they would be with me shortly. After about 10 minutes, my tech came out and ushered me to one of the numbered open rooms to explain the process. I was led to the bathroom and got down to business. The whole process was pretty seamless and the tech I was working with (Dr. Khella) chatted with me about the bay area for a bit before I was sent on my way. He was KHELLA cool. (ha ha) They were prompt in giving my employer my results as well.

I wish I could give negative stars. I have been waiting for 3 hours waiting for a simple blood draw. Yes, it’s a Saturday but this is unacceptable on any level. There is at best 1 phlebotomist. They made another client wait 2 hours to leave a urine sample. This is worse than the DMV.

I came here to do a 10-​panel urine test for a medical program. The office is really easy to find and parking is spacious. When I entered the office, I immediately noticed how bright the area was, especially with the lime green décor. There was no one at the front desk when I signed in but a nice lady came shortly. She quickly called me to the office area inside so I can put my belongings away and instructed me to wash my hands with water outside and dry it with the air dryer inside the restroom. You probably know what happened shortly after!
Anyway, prior to that, before collecting my sample, I noticed they clean the toilet bowl with the blue toilet solution but I noticed there were spots of yellow urine spots left on the toilet seat from the previous person =(I took my time to clean the toilet seat multiple times to make sure it was all cleaned before I went ahead and collected my sample. Then, I started noticing the signs on the wall giving instructions to collecting the specimen and got carried away reading it all. I also noticed a sign that said you shouldn’t flush the toilet after collecting your specimen…
The lady who helped me out during this process knocked and notified me that my time was up! When I went to go wash my hands, I noticed that the hand washing area didn’t have water flowing. I’m sure these are all steps taken to ensure that the urine samples are collected accurately without deceit. Anyway, after that, the lady told me that it was a good thing my sample had a temperature otherwise I would have to do it all over again. I think she might have thought that I was doing «something» in the bathroom since I took awhile… but honestly I was just cleaning the toilet seat and reading the signs on the wall! Hahah.
I gathered my belongings and left, and after leaving the front door, the lady once again came and gave me my drivers license. Her last words to me were: «you’re quick to walk but slow to give a sample». Haha! Overall, it was a pleasant experience and the office is very nice and comfortable, as well as the staff.

Came in as a walk In last week. I was in & out within 6−7min.
The older Asian lady in the front wasn’t friendly but The middle aged African American lady who assisted me with a urine test was.
Nice & clean & Cool. Thank god for AC :)

Pro: Walked in and the place was empty so I was helped right away.
Con: Like everyone else said in their reviews, terrible customer service. All the staff have attitudes.

I too have had problems with this place. Lousy attitude, slow service etc. The other one in the Grossmont Medical Center is better.

This place is really quick for getting you in and out for your drug tests and blood tests. However they don’t know how to draw blood quite good. Nothing like getting a huge bruise from a blood test on your arm.

I wish I had read the prior reviews before going to this office. I’m really excited about nursing school and everything that goes with it – I was even excited about getting my pee test. As soon as I walk in the door, I stand at the counter, and I’m never greeted. A middle aged lady with short black hairs simply says sign in. This is the start to my very cold adventure. I’m lucky enough (note the sarcasm) to have her be my specimen collector as well. The coldness continues. I don’t think she or anyone in this office (from my overall scan) has ever heard of customer service. During my piss session, the automatic light decides to shut off. No matter what I decide to wave around, it doesn’t come back on. Once there is some light shined upon the subject, I complete my process, and hand my piss off, the friendliness (note the continued sarcasm) continues until my exit from the office. Advice – if you don’t like your job, find another one!

I’ve lived in La Mesa for 5 years and did not know this little medical business park even existed
They are fast but their attitudes suck!

My appointment was at 9 AM, so I got there at 8:30, signed in and took a seat. I noticed around 915 that people without scheduled appointments were going ahead of me. At 9:20 I approached the desk and told the woman at the counter that I really had to Pee, and I asked if I should go now (bc I didn’t know how much longer this was going to take.) or wait. She told me to wait. At 9:35, I couldn’t stand it anymore, and I went up to another woman who seemed like she was going to be nicer. I told her I really had to pee and she asked when my appointment was. I told her 9am and I looked at the sign in sheet to see that my name had been crossed off! No wonder people were going ahead of me! I can’t believe that even happened. The woman promptly led me to the back room and allowed me to take my test.
I was very disappointed with this office, but I’m glad Melissa was doing her job and administered my test quickly. The other woman really brushed me off.

What a horrible experience! From the second I walked in the door I knew I was in for a miserable hour plus in this place! I had an appointment so i waited a few feet back from the lady signing in in front of me. I signed in for my appointment, lab order, insurance card, and ID in hand and waited a moment for the woman sitting at the front desk to acknowledge me and take my paperwork. After about 45 seconds I realized she had no intention of doing her job, so I sat down in the lobby. Another woman walked in about 3 minutes after me and signed in at the walk-​in clipboard. This woman received a cheerful hello and was told to take a seat. The woman then took her back about another 2 minutes later. Meanwhile, I’m sitting in the lobby still, paperwork in hand still, and being ignored STILL! So another 2 people walk in and are signing in at the walk-​in clipboard when someone from the back finally came out and noticed I had paperwork in my hand and had signed in 10 minutes before but Carol, the front desk lady was busy tending to the people currently signing in.
This person was no better. She took my lab order, looked at it funny, said «what is this for» and then grabbed her cell phone out of her pocket and walked away. I waited at the counter for her to come back and Carol announced to the whole room to «sit down if you’ve already signed in» several times. I stood my ground though, I wanted it known I’m here and I will not be ignored again. So the lady comes back from the back with the glucose drink I had to take and said, «I had to make sure this wasn’t a 3 hour test, cause you comin in here at this time for a 3 hour test doesn’t work for us». Excuse me, but was your rude comment necessary for a test I am not taking? Keep it to yourself and give me the damn drink, I’m highly irritated by now (Things I wish you could say to these a-​holes)! I took the beverage, she told me I had 5 minutes to drink it and then to «holler for me when you’re done» (excuse me, what is your name? I want to make sure I ‘holler’ for the right person). I finish the drink and went to the front and said to Carol, «I just need to let the lady know I’m done with the drink» to which she replies, «I don’t know where she went». Thanks for the help Carol! So lady comes back out and says «okay, your time is 11:12» to which I replied, «Thanks» and turned around with my keys in my hand to go to my car. The lady says, «Where are you going?» I told her I was going out to my car to get my book, and she says «Shoulda done that before you came in». So now I’m a hostage in this place? WTF?! At what point during your piss poor «customer service» tell me I was unable to leave the premises?
As I sat there for an hour waiting to have my blood drawn, I noticed everyone who walked in who was noticeably over the age of 40 was greeted nicely and attended to quickly, however, every single person who came in and looked to be younger got snubbed by Carol, including the other young pregnant girl who asked if she could use the bathroom, to which Carol replied, «There are laws against keeping pregnant women from using the bathroom». How about a nice, «The bathroom is right through there».
This place sucks!

Extremely poor attitude by front desk help, who also happened to be my «nurse» who administered my drug test. She was on the phone at front desk both times I visited the clinic. The first time she was talking to a supervisor about how displeased she was with other colleagues– unprofessional behavior at the front desk. The second time I came in, she was also on phone. She looked up at me about 40 seconds after I signed in and said, «if you’ve signed in, take a seat.» But the day before, they had asked me for my barcode number when I checked in, so I just wanted to confirm that she didn’t need that today. So I asked if she wanted it. She ignored me and kept talking on the phone. Then she repeated, in a loud voice, as if addressing the whole lobby, «if you’ve signed in, take a seat.» So I again repeated my question, «do you need my barcode number?» To which she irritably replied, «I don’t need nothing from you, just take a seat.» I took the high ground and stifled my inner grammarian who was dying to comment on the double negative.
There’s something that happens to some people when they are in a service role. Some people focus on their role of serving, while others use the position as a personal power trip. She had the power to ignore me, so she did. She had the power to be rude, so she chose to. She’d be better off understanding that most of us don’t take drug tests often and could use a bit of coaching and understanding when we come into such a facility. Obviously, she doesn’t have to change– this business model has a captive audience of people that are being requested to take these tests, generally for employment purposes. So even if they don’t change, they’re probably fine for the short term– until a willing competitor jumps into the fray. But I hope the front desk staff reads these reviews and is willing to take a long look in the mirror and ask, «Wouldn’t it make my life a little easier if I respected the people that I’m charged with serving?»
