Less than 5,000 miles ago I took my 1985 Volkswagen Westfalia van to Preston’s for installation of four Michelin Defender tires. Before selecting Preston’s, I had called Costco and Discount tire for quotes. Both of these options were less expensive. After talking on the phone with folks at Preston, however, I was pleased with the ‘honesty’ and candor, despite the higher price: When I told the employee I was looking at Costco, he responded, «Why buy tires from a grocery store. This is all we do.» Great point and I want to keep the family safe in this old car. Regrettably, I got trapped hook, line and sinker. Don’t get duped like I did.
I took the car in for the complimentary rotation about 1,000 miles ago. They did the rotation and did not alert me to any problems.
Yesterday, I was looking at the car’s tires and noticed a very disproportionate amount of wear on the insides of the tires. I contacted my regular mechanic who told me the car needed an alignment. The alignment mechanic told me the car was about as far out of alignment as a car could be and the tire wear was at 25%. In miles, I lost 25% of the tires.
I trusted Preston’s would have alerted me to a pending issue 1,200 miles ago to prevent this tire disaster. I went in today to discuss the concerns and was told the technicians are supposed to note symptoms such as these. Is it possible 25% of the tire can disappear in just 1,000 miles?
According to Randy at Preston’s, this is absolutely possible and there is no way his technicians missed the wear and tear during their rotation «inspection». He told me he is sure of this because the technicians get paid bonuses for noting problems with your car that will generate more money for the shop (ever wonder about the «problems» you never knew your car had before you took it in???).
Randy asked me for a solution. I told him, «new tires.» He told me absolutely not and did not even try to offer a solution to their service deficiencies.
This shop is unethical and lacks integrity. Do not trust them. They do not car about your safety or the safety of your family either. This is made clear by the extreme wear on the tires (that could lead to failure and an accident) that they had not previously alerted me to and also by Randy telling me they pay their employees extra money to find things wrong with your car so the shop can make money.
Maintain peace of mind and find a more trustworthy shop.

Jim and the gang at Preston’s are awesome! I got a nail in my tire and they got me in immediately without needing an appointment.
They patched the tire in under a half hour and got me back on the road. The price was less than half what I expected to pay.
Absolute professionals and experts at what they do. My next full set of tires will definitely be from Preston’s and I’ll recommend everyone else I know to go there too!
They even put the spare back away for me and cleaned up the mess I had made getting the spare down.

Go here if you want quality tires and service for an incredibly affordable price! Randy was especially helpful! So friendly and quick too! We couldn’t find my wheel key so Randy solved the problem real fast. I’m definitely coming back!

I had the best experience here last week and won’t take my car anywhere else anymore. I don’t know anything about cars so I always get nervous taking my car in to get worked on because I’m worried their all trying to rip me off. I dropped my car off for the whole day and Randy called me to let me know what needed to definitely be done and what could wait since I didn’t have a lot of money to work with. I really appreciated that. I felt like he was extremely honest and caring. Now Prestons has a new loyal customer because of that. I will definitely be bringing my car in to Prestons from here on out. This place is the best I’ve been to, great service and great workers. Both Randy and Preston were super helpful and didn’t try to make me buy unnecessary things. The shop was well maintained and clean, there was even an area for kids to play in. There was complimentary water bottles and I was able to watch my car getting worked on through the shop window. I walked in without an appointment and was in and out very quickly, everyone was very professional. Overall 5 plus stars and definitely will be back to them when needed!

we had recently purchased a set of 4 new tires from elsewhere closer to home and i wish we waited a little longer so we could’ve purchased them here at preston’s tire & wheel. however, i did get my synthetic oil change done here and for the excellent service and quality of work done, i will be returning for both vehicles we own. the staff is great about communication and estimates are right on point. this is important to me that i don’t get «had» since many auto places seem to treat me like i’m an idiot because i’m a female. randy was awesome in answering any questions i had and the whole staff was friendly from start to finish. i don’t know how they got into my car because i’m so short and the seat was pushed all the way forward, but i appreciate the fact that if they did move the seat, they moved it back. small details like that matter. i just purchased a used vehicle and will be coming here even though it’s a little out of my way since the work is trustworthy.

I highly recommend Preston’s Tire and Wheel for both tires and vehicle service. First off, Preston’s does not sell you more than you need. To give an example, I own a 2012 VW CC, I took the vehicle to the VW dealer I purchased the car from to have a couple of campaign (recall) items taken care of. I figured I would have then do the 70K service since it was due. The service advisor called and told me that the vehicle was showing a code for a «misfire» when cold and recommended removing the manifold and manually cleaning the intake valves at a cost of about $ 865.00. I called Preston who asked me a few questions, like had the «check engine» light come on (No) and he recommended I try putting Techron Concentrate in my tank, once a month at $ 13.95 a can. If the intake valves were dirty, that should do the trick.
Preston’s performs dealer quality service «without the dealer prices». They do good work and they stand behind it. I have never felt «worked» on one of their invoices.
As to tires, Preston’s understands the particular nature of the vehicle you are driving. In my case Preston told me that I needed extra strength tires that would handle the weight of my car, not just any tires in the size specified in the owner’s manual that would fit on the rims. He gave me a range of tire choices with a price spread of $ 65 – 70 per tire and recommended the Continentals that were designed for the CC, but lots better than the OEM tires that came with the car. Much to my wife’s shock, I did not even price compare at COSTCO until after I completed the purchase. The tires available through COSTCO, at least as shown on the website, were all more expensive and limited to two brands. Even if Preston’s were a bit more, I would have still purchased at Preston’s because the value is not just in the rubber going on the car, but in the service and the personal attention you will receive after the sale. I should note that the reason I went to Preston’s regarding tires is that the VW dealer said I needed two new tires, and quoted me a price equal to what I paid for 4 new (and better) tires at Preston’s.
If you plan on waiting for your service to be performed or your tires mounted, there is one other advantage to going to Preston’s, a wine tasting room (San Pasqual) and a micro-​brewery (Bolt) within walking distance.

I didn’t even have to call them to check on my wheels, they called me right when they got them. I ordered some Enkei Wheels on tirerack and got them delivered here, and it was great and quick service. Preston as soon as I came in greeted me and helped me right away. Will definitely be coming back when i get tires!

AMAZING SERVICE! Today I met with the owner to have my headlights replaced in my new Jeep Wrangler. The job was done in minutes and without an appointment set. I couldn’t be happier with my experience! Without a doubt this place has five-​star customer service! Thank you again Preston for your time.

I had an alignment done here a few weeks ago and checked out some tires and a light bar while I was waiting… the alignment was quick and easy and priced well and I spoke to the guys about options for tires and lights.
I came back in and checked on the availability of tires for my truck and some lights and they told me everything would be in and ready for install the next day. They quoted me a great price on everything and I was ready to go!
I dropped off my truck first thing (they met me a few minutes early since I had to be to work) and called me when it was done. Great work, nice people, great prices… After a bad experience at a competitor’s store, I’m taking my business to Preston’s!

I was referred by a friend to Wayne by a good friend of mine and everyone was very professional, kind and they went out of their way to make sure my truck was fixed properly. They not only fixed the immediate problem but thoroughly checked the whole vehicle and kept me informed on what needed to be fixed so that I have a safe vehicle to drive. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone I know. hard to find honest mechanics these days but these folks are the best.

I came here a few months back and have been meaning to write a review. I found this place while looking for a new Michelin tire for my MB that seemed to be out of stock or not available in any tire stores. After looking up local Michelin tire dealers using the Michelin website I found Preston tires. They were the only place that could get it fairly quickly, within 1 – 2 days. Instead of having to buy a $ 215 tire, they informed me they would be able to repair the flat tire instead. This is what I was hoping for and they didn’t charge me a thing. I was out in less than about 30 minutes. I don’t remember the gentleman’s name, but a fairly young tall guy took care of me there. Will def return for any other tire needs. Thanks again!

Honestly some of the most insulting high pressure sales tactics I’ve ever seen. Which concluded with the Urkel looking dork behind the front desk saying «there’s the door now get out» because I wouldn’t spend an extra $ 1200 on shocks and struts for my front end. Which he began by telling me he could fix my 2010 Tundra, which is having some suspension issues for $ 75, by aligning my wheels. After i signed the consent for the alignment, he wrote down an order for two shocks for $ 599 each. (Actually he and another gentleman behind the desk) were whispering back and forth. And had the nerve to tell me, well I pre ordered them so they’ll be here in the morning. I mean, are u serious.
I would highly recommend staying clear of these rude, foul mouthed cheats. How would u like your wife or daughter being duped into spending thousands of dollars on repairs or services they never requested or wanted.
I for one will never spend a penny in this place after being treated that way, and I suggest none of you do either.

Very nice. Poor work. Had tires put on my rv, took two trips and three hours. Had a flat from the valve stem two days later. I called ahead to have them fix the lug nuts which were overtightened. This requires special tool which they said they had. No they didnt. Just looked at the extentions they put on wrong now i need to go to another shop to fix shoddy work.
While i was waiting another customer came in and told them they forgot to connect his muffler.

A big thank you to the Preston’s team! I’ve come to them before for tire installation on my Honda. They were quick and easy about it and had me back on the road in almost no time!
What really set them apart for me was their «can do» attitude in the face of odd jobs! I bought an Energy Suspension Master Bushing Kit for my Honda with the intention of installing everything myself. However, having done this before, I had every intention of having a shop push the old bushings out of the upper and lower control arms. I had visited some other local «suspension shops» to have the bushings pushed out and was either referred elsewhere or flat out refused to be served. Last I checked, the bushings are a critical part of the suspension system. Fast forward to me walking in the door and asking them if they could do it. David said they’d make it happen and they certainly did! In the time I had left, grabbed lunch and come back, the arms were all freed of their worn old bushings and I was ready to complete my upgrade!
It’s obvious that the shop specializes in trucks and larger vehicles, but they have served my little Honda just as well! Thanks again guys! See you next time!

Competitively priced alignment with detailed explanation of scope of work. Prompt service. Professional employees. Pristine waiting area (comfy couch, hot coffee, lollipops and slot cars). Only suggestion? Could add some reading material for girls in your customer lounge (versus Maxim lol)!

Nothing but the best service. I have been using Prestons for my company & personal vehicles in both cases the service level is outstanding. Extremely honest in their work and always explain what os being worked on and have never let me down.
Many times my wife is the one dropping and picking up the Vehicles and she feels extremely comfortable with all the guys.

This was my go-​to place for many years. I was a very loyal customer and made it a point to refer my family members and friends whenever I had the chance. I even had their license plate frames on both of my vehicles. These guys are great at what they do. I estimate that I spent about $ 10,000 during the time I was a customer there. I have absolutely no complaints other than how I was treated by the ownership during my last visit about two years ago. I was appalled. All I did was point out a small overcharge on the service invoice.
As a result, I will never go back. I had to find another shop and frankly miss dealing with some of the people at Preston’s.
