We offer fashion forward affordable designer frames, eyeglasses, and designer sunglasses. Dr. Kasanoff is comfortable fitting the latest contact lens designs and materials. He stays up to date on contact lens literature and advances in the contact lens industry.

Also at New View Optometric Center, we design custom eyewear for sports and recreation. From running to cycling to fishing and more, there is an optical solution to maximize your sports performance.

History

Established in 1961.

Marvin R. Kasanoff, O.D. started the practice in 1961. He worked out of a small area in a department store call Unimart on University Avenue in La Mesa. He moved to a stand alone building at the foot of Massachusetts for several years. He later moved to El Cajon Blvd. where the practice resides today. In 1987, David M. Kasanoff, O.D. joined the practice.

I have been coming to New View for years. The doctor is great, and so is the staff. Everyone is helpful and nice and makes for a very pleasant experience. The office is easy to get to and very nice, and there is a large selection of frames to choose from.

It’s been years since I’ve had to wear glasses but due to some unfortunate events, I find myself needing to wear them again. Dr. Kasanoff and his staff were super friendly and professional. They have a GREAT selection of designer frames. I have to admit that I kind of put them through their paces in finding me a pair that would fit my enormously large bulb of a head. We found a style and had to special order the color that I wanted. When the frames arrived and I approved them for lenses, they told me that it would take a week and a half for the lab to get them done which would have fine if were not for the fact that I had to leave town in a week and would not be back until another two weeks. They said they would try to have them done no later than the day I would have to leave. What they DIDN’T tell me was that they went above and beyond my expectations and had them next day rush it for me! I was floored by the understanding of the staff.
I absolutely love this office and its staff.

Dr Kasanoff for over 10 years. He is very knowledgeable and professional. His staff is excellent, friendly, and professional.
Several years ago I developed Shingles near my eyes and was seen by an ophthalmologist and my attending MD.
I developed double-​vision and did not know when my vision would return to normal.
Dr Kasanoff saw me for my regular annual eye check up, but also took the time to
Explain in detail, what I might expect with
Respect to my vision returning to normal.
He gave me the information I did not get
Elsewhere and the possible treatment
Plans that might be offered to me. This information was very reassuring to me.
Fortunately my vision did return to my normal baseline. Recently I had a routine eye exam that went very well.

This place is the best. Everyone on the staff is super friendly and helpful. I went in got my eyes check out the doctor saw me right away. When I was trying to pay for my glasses my benefits card kept getting declined so I left and found out that my card doesn’t cover glasses. So I called New View and explained to them the situation and we set up a payment plan and they were really understanding. I will recommend this place to everyone!

I haven’t been to an eye doctor before, I fail my driver license renewal because of my vision, so I decided to go to new view and I’m feel so welcome as soon as I walk in Jessica was amazing by helping me and making feel comfortable and Dr. Kasanoff was awesome helping me solve my issue and helping me out. There was also another girl who help me pick out my frame and glasses she was amazing too.
I definitely come back to new view and recommend it, all of the staff are very nice peoples that are willing to takes care of you and have very good customer service!!!

I learned that there was a new procedure for dealing with my burning, gritty eyes and started calling the providers listed on the web site. No-​one knew much about it, until I got to New View. The staff answered all my questions proficiently, so I booked an appointment for the next day.
When I arrived, they were ready for me, NICE !!!
The doctor explained everything, including options, expectations, next steps, etc. Being an engineer, I usually have a lot of questions; but not with this doctor who covered everything. We also talked about my dry eyes when I sleep at night and that I had tried various eye drops — he gave me a sample bottle of what he recommends.
For the rest of the day, I no longer had the gritty eye feeling. I slept that night without waking up to dry eyes. I’m so glad that I found New View !!!

The staff here is great. Dr. David and his staff are really good people. The selection and prices are good. Dr. David even gave my fiancé free contacts just to wear for our wedding. I have two very active kids; the environment they have is child friendly. we cannot say enough good things about this place. My family and I will be getting our eyes checked at only one place, the New View Optometric Center. They have gained us as a patient/​customer for life.

This was my first visit. The office is very clean and comfortable, they seem to have state of the art equipment. Dr. David explained everything to me when it came to the special test I did to look deep in to the eye to make sure there were no future problem, it was fascinating. I talked to him about my problems and he suggested something that no other doctor had before. The staff made me feel right at home, I am very happy and my husband is making an appointment with him today!

I didn’t know what to expect as it’s been eight years since I’ve had my eyes checked. My experience was great here. From entering the door to a pleasant greeting, the extremely nice & helpful staff, and Dr. Kasanoff explaining everything I need to know, especially since I’m joining the wearing glasses club. The staff was ever-​so-​helpful with picking my newfound glasses; they actually made it seem like I was trying on clothes so it was fun having the staff agree or disagree with what you put on, including the doctor! I’m definitely happy that I chose New View!

Let me start by saying I have been a patient for about 15+ years. I love this place and I drive out of my way to come here! Dr. David is great! He really cares and he is truly concerned about your eye health. The office staff are really great too!
The frames he has in the office are always changing and current with the latest styles. I love the selection!
If you are looking for a great eye doctor you should definitely give Dr. David a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Of all the eye doctors I’ve seen in my life, New View is by far my favorite! The staff is so nice and professional and they remember me even when I haven’t been there for a year. Dr. Kasanoff is a great guy who is very knowledgeable and honest. They aren’t interested in overcharging their patients which is huge in a place that can get expensive quickly (depending on which brand you get as far as frames). Everyone should go here!

New View Optometric provides the best optometric services I’ve ever had. Without exception, everyone in the facility treats you as though you were the most important person that came in for an appointment today, and that level of treatment continues throughout your appointment. I’ve lived in San Diego all my life and have been to many optometrists. I was referred to Dr. Kasanoff over 10 years ago and he has been my optometrist ever since, because he’s the best.
I highly recommend him to anyone seeking the best optometrist in San Diego!

I’ve been going to New View for many years now. This office is amazing! Every part of it. Dr. David is so kind and thorough, every single one of the staff is incredible and to top it off, their selection of frames is pretty rad.
I had to have my eyes dilated pretty heavily and someone from the office drove me home! I mean, seriously, how cool is that?!
You may only see them once per year, but they don’t forget you and it’s always a pleasure being there :)

I hadn’t been to see the Dr. for three years and everyone at the office remembered me and what was going on in my life. It was pretty amazing to hear Jessica say, «I saw your name on the list of patients today and was excited to see you coming back in!» It made me feel really nice. This is the way doctors offices should run. The entire group was friendly, engaging, playful and seemed like they genuinely enjoyed their jobs.
Even though I live in Carlsbad, I’ll continue to make the trip down to the awesome people at New View when I need some help with my eyes and glasses.
