History

Established in 1988.

The owner, Michael Moran is a 3rd generation craftsman in the awning trade, taught by both his father and grandfather. Moran Canvas Products began as a one-​man operation in San Diego to one of the largest awning companies in Southern Ca. Awnings provide an economical, flexible means to increase the eye appeal and designs for any home, office or business. We offer unlimited canvas creations of any style, size or shape with hundreds of fabric colors available. Our business is family owned and operated by a staff of quality and experience. We are fully insured, bonded, licensed and certified. Those interested in purchasing an awning or other canvas item may visit our showroom to take advantage of free estimates and monthly specials.

We have used Moran Canvas Products for our numerous commerical and residential projects over the years, we have yet to be dissapointed in any aspect of their work. Everyone on the team is respectful, courteous and on time. The work is done when its quoted, if there is a long lead item we are told up front when it will be ready. You can use your own material or they will purchase and supply fabrics. They are willing to customize your project to your satisfaction.

Due to the extremely high el nino winds, we had some minor seam disruption on our roman shades. We called Moran Canvas, they sent someone out right away and repaired it… no problem. They really stand behind their work and are a pleasure to do business with! You don’t find a lot of companies like this these days, but they are honest and reliable, and they do excellent work.

I still love my sailcloth shade two years later! I can’t say enough great things about this company. They were fabulous to deal with and so professional with their work. There was an issue with the first shade they made, and they made a brand new one and installed it completely free of charge with no problems! That pretty much says it all; they stand behind their work with high integrity. Thank you Moran, you’re the best!

Mike Moran and his team recently designed, built and installed a fantastic horizontal blind over our patio in north county San Diego. It was exactly the design and look we were hoping for.
Mike came to our house on a Saturday morning arriving exactly on time and only took 25 minutes to view the area, create the design and provide a quote. If only all contractors were so efficient. We were warned it would take a few weeks to be built but when it was ready they scheduled a time that worked for us and turned up on time and did a great job. I really can’t fault them at all and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

I called Moran Canvas based on Unilocal Reviews, so I thought I should post about my disappointment with their service. I wanted to get a price and discuss options for a canvas awning for our Little League bleachers. Mike said he had done many such awnings, and would be in town that day so he promised to swing by and take a look at our set up. Didn’t hear from Mike. I just called back (a couple of weeks later), and Mike told me that he had not been able to swing by and that they were 6 — 8 weeks «out» for being able to handle our job. I told him I was disappointed and that the backlog info would have been nice to know when we first talked — especially since our season is only 12 weeks long.

I had them fix a hem in a awning they made for a previous owner. At the same time I had a new logo installed on it. Both turned out great. Pretty impressive how long the canvas has lasted. Must be a very good grade of material.
From what I can tell they are a family run business and have pride in their work. Couldn’t ask for more than that.

Our deck is sublime — until the sun hits it and we scurry for shade. Southern California living is so much outside that to abandon the deck for a more comfortable home interior is just not right. Moran Canvas Products remedied our problem with custom shade sails that now allow us to spend much more time where we want to be: outside on our deck but without the sun beating down on our heads, laptops and books. Moran is family-​owned, which is a plus these days because it means a level of commitment and care that creates confidence for clients. A product was decided upon and measurements were taken during two separate visits, including one by the company owner. When team members came about a month later to install the shades, they were efficient, effective and polite. They respected our property and worked with care and integrity. The installation was perfect in every way, shape and form. We are extremely pleased with the result.

We recently remodeled our patio at our home in Bay Park. We wanted to install some shade sails instead of a gazebo or other sort of structure because we didn’t want any poles on the deck and the sails looked like they would be really cool. Moran’s came out, measured and were super accommodating, providing us with a written estimate in just 1 day. They have a great selection and offered a lot of support when we were designing the sail and making the decision about the installation. They custom made the sail and came out and installed it. It came out great but was sort of too small. It was not what we expected. The owner came to my house, remeasured and they made and installed a new sail for us. I was stunned. They provided the best customer service I have ever had from any company ever, hands down, no contest. I thought I was going to have to settle for something I wasn’t quite happy with but I was wrong. They absolutely made it right. I would recommend this company to anyone, period. And, just to make it more awesome, they were the least expensive estimate I got in the beginning of my project! I got the best shade, the best service and the best price from the best shade company in town. If you have shade needs and are considering a shade sail installation, check these guys out first. You can’t go wrong. We love our shade sail, our neighbors and friends think it’s great and it absolutely brought our whole back yard remodel together.

We purchased an awning for our antique mall from Moran Canvas. Their price was considerably cheaper than a competing bid, and their selection was excellent. They carried away the old frame, cleaned it up, and reinstalled it – all included in the price. The installers were considerate, thorough, and did a great job.
