Lafferty Christopher, MD

First of all, I have not yet met with Dr. Lafferty yet, but I have met with Traci Hite, a CNP at Sharp Rees Stealy that works in tandem with Dr. Lafferty, and have my next appointment with Dr. Lafferty. Traci Hite was amazing and wonderful. She was thorough, listened to my concerns and previous horrible pregnancy experience, and answered all of my questions warmly. They didn’t have me waiting at all for my appointment, I didn’t even get to finish filling out my paperwork before they brought me in. All of the front office staff and nurses were very friendly. They got me in for my appointment the SAME WEEK that I called to set up an appointment, and they were able to schedule every appointment for me for pretty much the rest of my pregnancy at that first visit. I would recommend Sharp Rees Stealy La Mesa HIGHLY, and so far I have had nothing but a wonderful experience from the office Dr. Lafferty is in. Excited to meet with Dr. Lafferty next month. Don’t know why there are so many one star reviews. (Also, ultrasound machines and blood work done on site which is a huge plus)
Update: After meeting with Dr. Lafferty on a few different occasions now, I have to say that I absolutely love him, and am so happy with the care that I am receiving (only 3 more months to go). He is to the point, but warm, always asks me if I have any questions or concerns. He is also on time to all of our appointments, and just this week, I was in and out of an appointment in less than 30 minutes from the time I parked. I would refer him wholeheartedly to any mom looking for a prompt, caring yet efficient OBGYN.

He asked me a few quick questions then didn’t give me a diagnosis. Maybe he is good at delivering babies but not with GynOb issues. I felt very rushed, like every question I had was holding him back from going somewhere more important. At the end I didn’t have any answers and just felt frustrated and like he didn’t care to understand how I felt. Total waste of time.

The office staff is rude, uncaring, and insensitive. It was a good indicator of the nurses and doctor. If I could give zero stars I would. Go anywhere else. Spare yourself the money and aggravation because this doctor and his staff don’t care.

I do not know if the Dr. is good or not! What I do know for a fact is that I had a referral 4 months ago for this Dr. It took the 3 weeks for them to call me so I can make an appt. The secretary was rude every time, she argued with me and repeated 6X that I might have to pay out of pocket! However, she never asked me what insurance I have. I called back and wanted to change the appt because they had found a lipoma in my pelvis and again the secretary tells me Well you need a referral and I said no I do not, my insurance tells me I don’t need to have a referral for an OBGYN Dr in my medical group. Her response was «well I’m going to put here that you said you don’t need a referral» I call again to see If I can get in earlier I called early December 2015 she responded no, I asked can you see if any other dr can take me in earlier she said no one is available. She tells me to keep calling to see if someone cancel! I received I call today from this Secretary and she said we are canceling your appt. because the Dr is going to be out of the office. I’ve had it! This place sucks and I do not want to go there!!! I know this place is not for me, if I ever have a serious problem, I would probably die waiting for an appointment.

Dr. Lafferty is great! Everyone that I know who has had him has had great experiences with him. He was my doctor during my second pregnancy. He’s incredibly laid-​back and very friendly, but he doesn’t hesitate to be firm with you if necessary. He was always very caring and interested in details of the pregnancy. He genuinely cares that you’re taking care of yourself and following recommendations. He used to work at a birth center, so he’s incredibly supportive of natural birthing. I’d recommend him in a heartbeat.
