This was an amazing shopping experience!!! Top qualuty clothing! The staff was cheerful and fun to chat with. This should be a 10 start!!!

I must have caught Kim and the ladies on a good day … I found 2 excellent pieces priced very well with great service from everyone. I’m 27 and thought it had plenty of a selection for me. They even gave me a few coupons so I’ll defiantly be back!

This place gets one star. The lady who I’m guessing owns the place (Kim) could not possibly be more of a snob or racist (I’m not exactly sure). Personality is everything when conducting business and frankly I couldn’t stand her from the minute I heard her yell in the background if I was finished laying out the clothes I had brought to sale. She then finally showed her Botox and collagen face and didn’t even greet me with a hello to acknowledge me; I had to to say hi to her. And not to mention that her poor employee finally had to tell her that she could no longer wait to eat dinner, she tried waiting as long as she possibly could but could wait no longer. What kind of a leader are you? Making your employees wait to eat? I couldn’t stand this women from the last time I came in here to look around and this time I brought stuff in I realized my first impression wasn’t wrong and she was worthy of a review. I don’t recommend this place at all. Best of luck going here.

Hmm here was my experience yesterday as I was in this store while I was out having a great time at Oktoberfest.
I believe it was the owner of the business as a few other Unilocalers have mentioned didn’t greet my sister and I as we went in the store. As I went to unzip my purse to reach and grab my phone the owner was on my tail. Rudely she said «keep your purse zipped»…
As I went to my sister to say I was going to mention that i was going to write about this on Unilocal her then other excuse was that «she had to chase someone out of the store for filling their purse with merchandise». Apparently this owner backhandedly tried to compare me to some shoplifter… I then told her I’ve never been so disrespected. I mean really? Nothing in there would be ever worth stealing.
As I rounded my sister up to leave to add fuel to the fire she goes «have a great day!» When I kindly said to «fuck off»
She didn’t have the ability to ruin my day but did ruin my chances of stepping foot in there
Little does she know that my sister that was with me writes for a magazine about local businesses

I was enjoying Oktoberfest with my sister and we decided to check out this cute consignment store but upon walking in, my sister and I were rudely mistreated and humiliated by who we assume to be the owner. I got the feeling she was following us around the store and as my sister reached into her purse to grab her phone, this woman had the audacity to say quite loudly «to keep your purse zipped.»
As she walked away and my sister told me she would write a bad review on Unilocal about this rude woman, she had the nerve to walk back and say «I just had to chase a girl out the store with the same purse as you.»
Yeah so you decide to tell us AFTER we mentioned you’d be getting a bad review? Regardless of the fact she had to chase a girl out the store, I don’t see how that other person has anything to do with us.
Not sure why she would assume we would shoplift– I was about to ask her was it because we were the only black customers in the store at that moment because She certainly didn’t say we looked like the girl she just «chased out the store.»
Oh by the way, I am a local writer and my job is to help bring awareness to the community by writing featured articles on local businesses and why people should visit them — unfortunately I will NEVER enter your establishment again.

This is a fun store to look around in. The owner isn’t the most friendly, but maybe she was just having a bad day. People have those once in a while and not everyone knows how to put on a game face and smile. There are a good variety of clothes and sizes. It is right next to a Goodwill which has cool stuff too. And there is a cute coffee shop near by. So many cute little shops along the way that it doesn’t hurt to check this place out and then meander around. If you see the owner and she doesn’t smile, maybe wish her a good day and share a smile. They can be contagious and you will feel like you have done a good deed for the day. Sharing is caring.

Been going to Kim’s Fashion Exchange for many years. Great people, good clothes, and what a selection. The prices are right. Shop to your heart’s content.

No one asked me to write this review. I wanted to just write something honest so people could really know what to expect. I live in Los Angeles and come down to SD once in awhile to visit my parents. Whenever I do come down, my daughter and I always come here to find amazing things. Not everything is my style, but what store is? There are hidden treasures here. You need to give yourself some time tho to look through all the racks. The prices are LOW! I don’t know how anyone can say they are high. Try coming to LA and seeing our prices. Also, since this isn’t LA it isn’t picked over. I found the cutest pink wool coat for my daughter for $ 20.00 brand new! In LA it would have been a $ 100. She is 22yrs old, so it was a women’s size. I never leave empty handed. The owner Kim has always had a smile on her face and has always greeted us. I don’t know what these negative reviews are about, weird. Maybe other shop owners? I want you all to know this place is so great, that I am risking letting more people know about my place :)…Go!!!

This is the most unprofessional and shady store ever! I actually worked here for a few years off and on. I was mistreated and my work here ended with Kim (the owner) when I had to take ONE day off and she just gave my hours to someone else. Most of the employees are completely two faced and they all talk crap about Kim. Kim is crazy and accuses EVERYONE of shoplifting if she’s having a bad day. She sends her employees like her children to go get her snacks. She only gives a 10 min break every 5 hours. And if you don’t ask for your break she won’t let you take it. I was terrified to ask her anything. She would constantly call her employees out and humiliate all of us in front of customers. Don’t give her business!

I am so in love with Fashion Exchange! I have sold so many of my clothes, shoes and handbags!!! It gives me a chance to enjoy my things that are new for a bit then sell them and allow someone else to enjoy them. The bonus is all the extra cash I get! I have been doing business with Fashion Exchange for over 5 years and it is always a great experience!

Rude old ladies. They did not greet like most normal people do upon entering. It didn’t feel very inviting. Advice to the owner… Smile at people, say hello! Maybe you’ll actually have customers. They had a pair of Hudson jeans that was so worn out. If JLO tried them on, the entire back pockets would rip to shreds. Buffalos exchange is way better! I didn’t buy anything because they were rude and stuck up. All they do is gossip and stand around staring at you. So unprofessional especially when customers are trying to shop. I will never go there again. Go to Buffalos exchange PB location or Hillcrest. Clothes are more trendy and up to date. It’s 2015, not 1970’s.

I am really into the hippie/​vintage look! Its easy for me to get lost in this store because everything here seems like it tells me a story. I will continue to come back time and time again..

This is my favorite clothing store! Kim is the best and she knows quality fashionable clothes. I’ve found countless dresses, jackets, hats, sunglasses, blouses, skirts, and fantastic jeans. All were great deals! Her shop is so organized that it’s easy to spend hours in. Definitely check it out!!!

Prices and items are okay a little too old for my taste. Give this place 1 star because of the horrible customer service. Like when I walk in don’t stare at me as if I have 2 heads. Be polite and say hi. That’s what normal people do.

I want to give them a 3.5, but it wasn’t exactly my kind of style.
If you’re really into the hippie/​vintage thing, this is your place. Or even gently used designer clothes, they’ve got them here too. It was a bit hard for me to find anything that I genuinely liked, and for a thrift/​consignment shop, some of their prices are waaay more than they should be! $ 17.99? For a gently used top?! What?! I couldn’t stop thinking that I could possibly find something better a few doors down for $ 5.99!

Great place to find incredible deals. If you are a fashionista with higher end tastes but lack the money to buy what you love in retail, be sure to check out this place.
The staff is friendly, it’s clean and decorated so cleverly… it’s just a joy to shop there.
Kim knows her field well.
I have been both a customer and also sold my designer clothes there. It’s win win in my opinion.

Kim has the recipe, fast turnover, lots of selection and never overcrowded. A great place to bring the clothes you don’t have the time to sell on ebay. She is very fair and will either give you back what she doesn’t buy… or donates to women’s shelter– which I love. Make sure you stop in during your day on la mesa blvd.

I was walking around La Mesa with a friend and saw some really nice things in the store window. I have been to other consignment stores but nothing quite like this. I actually found stuff that fit me and were in the cutest styles. The sizes were in order instead of scattered around like some of other consignment stores in the area. We were greeted by Jayne. She was really busy but found time to help us find some jeans. The store was getting ready to close and she still helped me pick ten different blouses to try on. The prices were more then fair. Plus some were an extra 30% off. I can’t wait to come back to this store again.

What a great find! This store is right next to goodwill. It looks expensive because the clothes and racks and tags are so organized but its pretty cheap. It’s very clean and roomy. There’s alot of unique pieces of clothing. The employees there we very nice.
There were alot of pricier items but they were in great shape still. Overall this was a great place. I couldn’t believe I didn’t check this place out yet I’ve been coming to downtown la Mesa for a while now!
I will definitely be coming back again sometime!
When my friend and I went to try on our clothes we smelled fire lol. I guess it was just in the fitting room. weird
