Not a bad food truck gathering, but not a great one as well. This one had four trucks at the time that I came( ), I usually like to see at least five to six trucks to make it a very good one, for the variety of course.(sss) After checking out all four vendors and chatting with each one, I decided on Tortally Torta which I will review later. I liked the friendliness of the ladies at this truck. The location is good, in the Best Buy parking lot right off Fletcher Parkway, and there is plenty of safe parking. There are no tables about, so bring your lawn chairs and eat up. Some of the trucks provide trash cans and recycling bins, but none any seating arrangements. I do look forward to trying some of the other trucks on my next visit

I ordered from this food truck when they were in La Mesa. This is the same review for the actual food truck as well. I ordered from God Save the Cuisine I purchased the fish and chips. Fish was nicely battered, but tasted fishy. I couldn’t finish it because of this, but it was a nice portion. Fries were a bit overdone, but they managed to still make them taste really good. The tartar sauce they make was good as well, but the slaw had too much pepper. Kept getting a unpleasant pepper kick in the back of the throat everytime I had a bite Might just try the burger next time, but fish and chips is supposed to be what British food is about Otherwise I do like the set-up. There was plenty of parking and it is less crowded then other food truck places. It would be nice to maybe have a couple more out there. A little bit more variety would make me want to give it a try again

This place has it all! Crepes, soul food, local, vegan! Every Wednesday from The beginning of January until Christmas, all the best food trucks park downtown and make a festival worth searching for. The prices are so perfect. The quality of food and service is unexpected from food trucks. probably because these are not your average roach coach. The selection is awe-inspiring. Curbside bites is 100% hands down my favorite new San Diego discovery!

I have attended this food truck rally for a couple of weeks. They have a nice family based crowd. The trucks rotation keeps it interesting. They provide some chairs and plenty of trash receptacles. Overall a nice humpday break from cooking.

Please don’t tell Tasty Truck Tuesday in Normal Heights that I had a date with the Food Truck Gathering in La Mesa this week. I just don’t think I’m ready for a monogamous mobile gourmet relationship. Hosted in the Best Buy Parking lot on Fletcher and Jackson, the venue is much easier in which to find parking, boasts a small grassy patch for an impromptu picnic, and for the prepared, enough room to pitch camping chairs or a small foldable table. The only thing I missed was the live music I have grown accustomed to in Normal Heights. The variety of offering was just as fulfilling as my other Tuesday option with, among others, pizza, upscale sandwiches, crepes, and hot dogs on the menu. For those who covertly and successfully attended senior prom with two dates, you could try to make it to both venues. Just don’t get caught.

Ate some sliders from Me So Hungry. They were tasty, but overpriced at $ 9 for 2 sliders. We also ordered Garlic Parmesan fries, which were also good, but not what I was hoping for $ 4 for a small order of fries. They were pretty just had some raw garlic and a sprinkle of cheese straight from a bag; a little disappointing. It took about 15 minutes to get our food, which seems much longer when you are just standing around next to a truck. We may go back, but it would only be to try a different food truck. Some of the other ones looked very good too.

I feel like this food truck gathering is a hit or miss. Sometimes they have good trucks, and sometimes they don’t. This gathering is in the best buy parking lot. I think it’s roughly around 5:00 — 8:30 ish. When I got there last night around 8:30 most of the trucks were gone/packing up to leave. I think a part of the reason it doesn’t draw such a huge crowd is that A. people aren’t sure which trucks come, B. This isn’t greatly advertised and C. it’s on a tuesday at night. and here in SD we like to do it big for taco tuesday. The food that is made is great though! Some can be pricy, but it’s worth it most of the time. Some of the food trucks I’ve seen there include Devilicious, Mangia(something italian I think), SuperQ, the french crêpe one, and and one with the lobster roll and crab cakes(SOYUMMY). I love the truffle cheese fries from devilicious, if only I could eat that every day and not get super fat. I loved the crab cakes from the truck whose name I can’t remember. People come here with tables and chairs and large groups sometimes. They just order food, sit around and have fun. I think this is a great concept overall, but they just need to advertise more and it would be a big hit. and maybe not do it on tuesdays?
