Great place around campus to grab some quick brews. Loved the staff, even though it was super busy, the bartender was still able to get to me and my group in a reasonable time, serve us, and close our tabs quite efficiently. I definitely would come here more often post class to grab some craft brews. Decently priced, good crafts, fast service, only thing is that the kitchen is a bit slow. The line for the kitchen is even longer so it’s really not worth it. But a great bar for post class drinks

The venue is a great place for live music in an intimate setting where you can relax for seated shows! The bar staff are friendly and there’s some good beer on tap. I attended a CD release party and accidentally left my favorite jacket. Even though the venue was closed for the next two days for a holiday, the manager/staff returned my email and call, and they held onto my jacket until I could pick it up. THANKS! Loft. I’ll be back!

The Loft is a mixture of cozy modern spaces with a bunch of nervous kids who haven’t a good clue as to what to do. I actually should give this place a higher rating because it’s funny to watch the service run around like chickens with their heads cut off. The place would be a lot nicer if not for the indifference of the staff.

This establishment is aptly described with a 3.5, but teetering to the 4. It’s designed is nice, and so are the bands that play there. The ordering at the bar is always a mystery, but maybe that’s just my j experience with ordering at the bar. The happy hour is a fun time(from 3 – 6) every week day. The sliders are yummy as are the tacos. The drafts are usually handpicked from what I can tell and you really can’t go wrong. The bartenders are usually knowledgeable on the ins and outs of the drink. As a venue, this place is SMALL. I feel super fortunate that my school hosts such interesting and talented artists, but I feel bad the place is so small. If you are on campus and haven’t checked it the Loft, you definitely should. It’s one of the best places to unwind on campus. However, I wouldn’t come specifically to campus just to come eat or drink here.

I’d never even heard of this place before my husband’s guitar instructor told him about the clinic he and a couple guitar friends were putting on here. It’s cute and comfortable inside, with a bar, some bench-style couches and several round tables(with really uncomfortable chairs!) There’s a larger-than-I-would’ve-expected-for-the-space stage up front, and the sound quality is surprisingly good. Even the instructors commented on how good the sound was from the stage. There’s only one entrance, which is at the top of the stairs. We accidentally tried to enter through the exit, but the guy there pointed us in the right direction. We’re noobs. We didn’t go to the bar, but they had a moderate selection of alcohol for sale. The draft beer selection was lacking, but their liquor options were a bit more promising. The truly unfortunate thing about the location is that it’s right upstairs from a food court. So, all I smelled for three hours was grilled meat, grilled chicken, something sweet like waffle cones, and then more meat. It’s amazing I didn’t eat the table we were sitting at! Parking is easiest in the Gilman structure just down the street. It’s free on the weekend, and an easy walk to the venue itself.

Saw Elliot Moss, Colony House, and COIN here last night. This venue is very hip and intimate. Tons of fun and you can get really up close and personal with the artists. Really loved it here!

Hip, intimate venue located on the UC San Diego campus. Lots of free live concerts and events for students. The bar(Zanzibar) offers a good rotating selection of beers and wines with social hour specials. The fries are goooood. The chips that come with the sandwiches are also bomb. The Loft also features an art gallery that brings in local artists and students, and more. Exhibits change every so often and it’s nice to check out some fresh art. Lots and lots of awesome jazz concerts. The Loft also brings in some up and coming music artists. In the past they’ve brought in RAC, Freddie Gibbs, Mary Lambert and a bunch more. It’s easiest to keep up with the events the venue posts on their FB.

I am disappointed in the loft management/security. They recently had a UCSD literature professor arrested during one of their concerts. This information was made public in the UCSD guardian. While the article was problematically incorrect, it is true that the Loft had the professor arrested. There is footage on the web that shows multiple security guards handling the professor, pushing him, and holding him until the police arrived. The professor is seen trying to talk to the security, but the latter ignores him and continues to harass him. I don’t think that the Professor’s behavior during the concert merited this kind of attack. I’ll never set foot on the Loft ever again and will make sure all to tell my friends.

Pretty cool venue! I saw Pomplamoose here last Thursday. I’ve also seen Hauschka here and he’s a piano player who puts random objects into the piano to make it sound different. The design here is pretty cool. I’ve also seen Clara Chung here, if you can get her VIP pass do. I got to Halloween shop with her last year! Of course she played in the East ballroom last year. But I saw her in The Loft in 2012.

Some of my fondest memories at UCSD have been here, particularly because of the great musicians, dance events, and surprisingly the required CAT events that have led me here. It’s a small, intimate space with a bar, stage, and sitting area. He is We, Jennifer Chung, and Kinna Grannis are some of the artists I’ve seen here.(They usually stick around after they perform to meet the fans and sign their autographs.) Some universities don’t have«cool» spaces like this, so I’m glad UCSD has one.

I love The Loft at UCSD. It was a beautiful, unique, contemporary, creative, colorful and fun place to have a wedding reception. People loved our choice of venue. The people at the Loft made the event exactly as my daughter had envisioned; elegant, unique and beautifully done. I love the venue so much I regret to put any thing negative into my review so I would just say to get everything you expect, in writing. I did have a few miscommunications and an added expense at the end that I did not expect and that is the reason for four stars instead of 5. The night of people… five stars all the way. The night of, the Loft at UCSD, did a five star job and we were not disappointed… nor were our guests. I also have to give them Kudos for using the amazing Erin Campbell and her team at Zanzibar Café as their in house caterers. They were fabulous.

I’m torn on the star rating scale right now… 4 stars for The Loft because it’s such an intimate venue for a concert. You’re just SO close to the stage no matter where you are! 3 stars for the beer selection(draft and bottle) and for the food. 2 stars for the acoustics and sound controllers tonight! UGH! Microphone mishaps, sound shenanigans. It was kind of a fiasco! Tonight my girlfriend and I watched the lovely, Malaysian indie pop artist, ZEEAVI. Oh, honey bee. Oh, bitter heart. I just can’t get enough of my Zee Avi. Zee has an amazing voice! She is so quirky and cute(and she can play the kazoo quite well!). It was a great concert! It woulda been 5 stars had the sound check guys known how to do their job. I’ll give The Loft 4 stars(for now) with a hopeful faith that my next concert here will be a whole lot better! I’m just so infatuated with how small, cozy and comfortable this music venue is!

Love this place! Love the design. Everything is cool here! Try plum wine at zanzibar(it’s in the loft). The loft usually hosts some mini concerts. They invited many youtubers like Melissa Polinar. Also, Zee Avi and Lenka came before! I think this is the best place for students to relax!

Though the design is super modern and«too cool for school,» the venue is not pretentious. In fact, they have hosted some chill shows such as bitter: sweet and Angus and Juila Stone, who played their first ever concert in the states at the Loft! For this, I’m a big fan. So it’s UCSD-I know I went here– and parking sucks and costs money during the weekday. No alcohol(roll eyes here) but maybe you should spend a night sober and save a bit of dough, or just hit up costco and top off your nalgene. Either way, the line up will satiate.
