God, I love MOM. Cheap yet varied drinks, amazing baristas, cozy atmosphere. It gets really crowded sometimes so it’s always a struggle to find a prime seat, but that’s the cost of being on a college campus. There are usually always outlets, so don’t worry about your laptop. It’s pretty loud so bring headphones if you need to concentrate. They really should extend their hours because they aren’t open in the evening. Lastly, if there’s one thing you need to try before you die, it’s a DARKPOLARBEAR(originally with white chocolate mocha, but I sub for regular mocha powder; peanut buttery chocolatey toffee-ish deliciousness, I don’t know how else to describe it; ask for half powder/syrup for a less sweet drink). Oh, and they give you a little discount if you have your own mug!

Friends have Central Perk. My friends and I have Muir Woods Coffee House. I absolutely love this place. When I’m around campus and I just want to sit down and study, I automatically think of going to Muir Woods. I’m here almost every weekday with my friends and this is the place where I study, catch up with friends, or even eat lunch if the dining hall upstairs is too crowded. Muir Woods Coffee House has a great variety of roasts and teas, such as their New Zealand Sunnyslope. Their coffee is cheaper than the other coffee places on campus(eg: $ 1.00 drip coffee when you bring your own mug) However, I find myself only ordering 2 things here: Iced White Mocha and Iced Vanilla Dirty Chai. I’ve ordered these drinks so much that some baristas see me and they already write down my order on the cup.(Love, y’all!) In the mornings, I would have a chocolate chip scone, which always tastes great with the coffee. For the actual place itself, there are many tables and couches throughout the place, but it can get crowded and you may have to wait for a table. There are also multiple power strips for phone and laptop chargers. As you could tell, I am a little biased about this place, but Muir Woods offers good vibes, great coffee, and awesome company. Thanks, Muir! [:

The baristas are all awesome & friendly. The place is always filled with positive energy & they usually play good music. There’s a great atmosphere for studying or just hanging out but it does get kinda loud(in a good way) so bring headphones if that bothers you. I highly recommend checking it out. &&& if you’re stuck between coffee or tea get a dirty chai tea latte

Awesome student baristas, great inexpensive coffee and a chill atmosphere to get a break or work with friends. Little hidden jem of the campus that many students from other colleges don’t know about.

When I want coffee, if I don’t feel like Art of Expresso– I would come here. Though I had the most amazing iced Mocha the first time I came, the consecutive times that I visited I never tasted the same quality of Iced Mocha again. So my verdict… /It depends/. It really depends on who is making your coffee for you. I’ll give this place a 4 stars since the baristas are typically chill and the price is fair.

A caffeinated diamond in the rough on the Ucsd campus, Muir Woods offers basic lattes, drip coffee, teas and creative seasonal drinks. They also have a small variety of baked good and bagels delivered by a local bakery. All in all, Muir Woods offers delicious drinks at an affordable price and is a campus hot spot for meeting up with friends and studying. The quality and price of their beverages is unmatched throughout the campus and their baristas are mind-boggling nice; I am yet to not have a genuine barista who is interested in how my day is going. They also know a lot about coffee and their products and are eager to suggest beverages and customize drinks. Additionally, Muir Woods does not charge extra for different types of milk(almond/soy milk drinkers rejoice!) and they reduce their prices 50 cents when you bring in your own cup. Make sure to ask for a punch card, your 11th drink is free!

Huge social space with an excellent set of baristas. The inside is a nice contrast to the Muir housing and classroom buildings that dwarf it. Warm wood tones and pumpkin-hued walls. If I lived on campus I would live here. I was told good things and was not mislead. This is what a fun college space should look, feel, and, uh, taste like? My iced mocha was superb, I now hear I could have gotten it with almond milk. That would cause the firmament of existence collapse in on itself, it its genius.

So as it turned out, the specific barista who introduced me to dirty chais was the only one who was able to make those perfect chai lattes. After he graduated(presumably, or maybe he just stopped working there), my friends and I kept ordering them but they were never as good. They’d end up overly sweet or they weren’t flavored enough or the espresso would be burnt. It was never the same. That being said, the prices were still competitive.

Verdict: If I’m stuck in Muir I’ll go here. Prices are good but I think they make their chai lattes too sweet. I prefer to make the trek to Art of Espresso if I can. PROS: *Great location and atmosphere — I don’t think I’ve ever had trouble finding a seat and it’s a great place to study or relax between classes. *Definitely like the prices of those lattes! CONS: *My lattes tasted like sugar. I have a sweet tooth and it was getting a little much towards the end. *I don’t know about the coffee but there is a credit card surcharge on the convenience store side, which is super not convenient.

The prices are low and the ‘muiristas’ are excellent! Whenever I have the time between classes I’ll stop by and grab coffee. My favorites are the Mocca Java & French Roast! Before I turned lactose intolerant I loved the dirty chai latte ~

Nothing I say will be able to express how much I am absolutely in love with this place. Coffee, tea, pastries, tables, couches, music?! Not to mention the nicest and coolest baristas you will ever meet?! THISPLACEISAMAZING. What mainly draws me here is the $ 1 coffees if you bring your own mug and their large variety of drip coffees. I love them all! If you like something more bright and acidic, go for the Guatemala. If you want something a little more deeper but with chocolate undertones go for the Mocca Java. They have the classic Italian and French roasts too and those are great. Feeling more like an espresso drink though? Dude, they will make you whatever you want. Double shot? Done. Syrups? Done. Omg they have a large selection of syrups. Milk preference? Done done done! They have 2%, nonfat, soy, even almond milk! Sweetness. Last quarter they had this drinking going called the«Snowflake» and I fell in love with that. It’s a lavender white mocha. The lavender flavor cuts the sweetness of the white mocha and compliments it so nicely. Whoever made that drink is a genius. — Oh right! Seasonally they have a special drinks menu and those selections are never a let down. But what, you’re just not in the mood for coffee at all?! Well there’s always tea then! Their chai tea lattes are hands down on point omg. They also have a large selection of loose leaf teas. Such wow. Very magical. The people that work here are great. They always have a smile on your face and really make you feel welcome and there to make you an awesome drink! The ambiance is great, you can study here or meet friends. Also the baristas plug in their own music and most of the time I have no complaints I love it and I dont even have to listen to my own music. Lastly, the prices here are extremely fair to borderline cheap for coffee places. Fuck Starbucks! Forget Perks and Art of Espresso, come here! You will not be disappointed. ;)

When I was a first year, I didn’t spend too much time here(mainly because they didn’t take dining dollars haha). But now that I am a second year commuter, this place has become like my second home! Not only are the workers friendly and welcoming, but the drinks served here are made carefully and priced fairly(which is amazing since most things on campus are over priced!). Good drinks, fair prices, amiable workers, a quiet, relaxed environment combine to make Muir Woods one of UCSD’s best coffee shops/lounges.

I’ve been coming to Muir Woods for the entirety of my UCSD studentship. It is my favorite coffee shop on campus and one of the things I will miss the most about UCSD. The Muiristas are always so nice! Every! Damn! TIME! The coffee is cheap and delicious, the pastries are cheap and delicious [especially the chocolate croissant] and every 10 drinks you get one drink free. And we’re not talking the cheapest thing on the menu free. They encourage you to splurge on your free one– extra shots, extra syrup, whatever you want. Sigh. I will miss this place. I will probably come back to campus just to visit Muir Woods.

MUIRWOODSISTHEBESTPLACEEVERFORTHEFOLLOWINGREASONS: 1) Great drip coffee. You know a place is legit when their cheapest, most ordinary drink is GOOD. 2) Cheap drinks! Most of the drinks on the menu are at least 50 cents(if not more) cheaper than the same drink at Starbucks. On top of that, I believe the small at Muir Woods is the equivalent of the Grande at Starbucks — double WIN. 3) Super friendly baristas. I don’t know how they so consistently hire friendly people, but every barista I’ve ever encountered was efficient at their job and great at making conversation. 4) Lots of comfortable couches, and lots of big tables for studying. It can get a little loud in here, but if you aren’t distracted by noise, this is the perfect place to study. 5) Happy hour. Cheap drinks get even cheaper! They’ve changed the hours of Happy Hour recently, so I’m not sure when it is anymore. But it’s so worth it – just ask a barista the next time you visit!

Muir Woods is probably the best coffee with the lowest price on campus. Not only that, but each cup comes with a bright smile and interesting conversation. $ 1 for drip coffee with your own tumbler? Yes please!
