Hertz Rent A Car

Awesome customer service… I had been renting in this location forever… They always takes care of me… Staffs are always helpful… Thank You guys for your wonderful awesome help.

I have to drop a star because I was not happy with the service received last time I rented a car. I was over charged for my car rental and am currently disputing the charges with Hertz corporate offices.

The service at this Hertz is IMPECCABLE!!! :D
Literally, I can’t say enough… I’m not even interested in Unilocal anymore to really be checking in or writing anymore, but this establishment absolutely deserves a HIGH RECOMMENDATION. Vivianne, Phil & Lyn ROCK!!!
Honestly, good leadership is reflected directly through the employees who serve the customers… And it obvious that Lyn is crème of the crop, with the level of customer service her staff delivers. Vivianne is the sweetest soul. :) It always a pleasure going to La Jolla to get our rides. :)

I reserved a Hertz rental through Expedia, including taxes and insurance, for under $ 400. Went to Hertz to pick up my car and they wanted to charge me over $ 500 plus a $ 200 deposit. They refused to honor Expedia’s price quote or insurance purchased through Expedia. While I was there, unhappy customers were in the office and calling about problems. The staff wasted a lot of my time before I gave up on them. Will never rent from Hertz again!

These guys were ON THE BALL!!! Came here as an alternative to that OTHER place for an insurance rental while our car is in the body shop due to a recent collision. We were in and out within 15 minutes, signed, sealed, and delivered.
I have NEVER had a smoother car rental experience except at airports where I can just go grab the car I want, and even then, it was a much longer process.
We had arranged everything the day before. We had one signature, one swipe, and one lengthy printout. Out to the garage, done and done.

Worst customer experience ever. No one ever answers the phone. If you go in person to the office, they will ignore you while they play on their smart phones. They will screw up your billing and make you go back to the office in person to have it fixed. They will not fix the invoice over the phone. Go to Enterprise to rent your car.

This rental location is sub-​par. Apart from wasting an hour of my time, the customer service was awful. The agents wasted a lot of my time asking for the same information several times. Phil, the agent I dealt with, was disingenuous when he tried to convince me to buy gas (at $ 4/​gal) from Hertz then had the gall to speak to me as though I were frivolous with money. There were several other personal annoyances during my interaction with Phil from his mumbling to generally rude demeanor.
If I were not in dire straits, I would have left within the first 5 minutes of interaction.

Renting a car should be a lot simpler and certainly not with the feeling that you are bothering the rental agents. These rental agents are impatient, argumentative and was told a couple times things that were just not true. Furthermore the car was located in a parking garage so nobody went over the car before we left. The car I received had a cracked windshield in the upper corner which you couldn’t see until you left the garage. I called back and once again they were in a rush and said it would be noted. Certainly I would like an email or something acknowledging this was already there at pick up and even better, arrangements for another comparable car. I was told they had no cars and they could only just tell me they would note the damage. This was after the car they promised me delivered to the satellite location turned out to be different and smaller. It makes a difference for this road trip. They, of course, denied that was the car promised and could not give the larger car. I told them I was bringing to them to arrange for a larger car in the class. The car received was the one mentioned above with the cracked windshield and impatient service.

Great experience at this particular Hertz branch. I was in & outta there in less than 20 minutes & the customer service was top notch. I just wish I could remember the young guys name who helped me. It was the first time I ever rented a car & he made the whole experience a hell of a lot easier than I thought it would be. I will definitely come back here the next time I need a rental car!

I had an issue that was resolved immediately with the help of Layne.
He was very thorough, consistent and exhibited great customer service. Based on my experience with him alone, I would definitely return to this location, seeing as how their customers are treated with respect and priority.

I rented from this location in December. The rate I was offered was decent, but this review is not about rate; it’s about the terrible customer service.
I called the main Hertz number before booking and was ASSURED that the pick up service would be available for me. I told them where I lived. They told me the most ideal location (this one) and I booked. But when I called the specific office to schedule, they informed me I’m too far. I insisted that the person making the reservation assured me I would have that service available, yet still they didn’t budge. That forced me to park my car at the hotel and pay for parking, thus adding to overall cost. NOT COOL!
Then I received a car that was OLD. It had almost 60k miles on it and had no Bluetooth, which is just unsafe nowadays. My reservation was for only a day, but I had to drive to LA and back and didn’t like not having Bluetooth. When i called the office, the staff was unfriendly and condescending on the phone. So I asked for a manager, who was equally as condescending. He told me to find another Hertz along my drive and swap out the car. I said I would have liked to get the experience done right the first time so as to not waste more of my time! Guess that’s too much to ask for. Then he said I should have reserved a larger car to have Bluetooth! NEVER ever, and I rent cars often for work, do I need to reserve an immediate car size in order to get Bluetooth!!! Are you kidding me! That’s fluff.
For a location in a high-​end hotel chain (that is often known for its high level of customer service), having this car rental office there isn’t a match. I will direct my business elsewhere.

Excellent customer service. Very happy with my rental. The staff was super friendly & the whole process of renting a car went really smooth. I don’t normally rent but my car was in the shop. They made it super easy & I was able to use the rental for the week while they worked on my car.

Returned my car here instead of the airport. Lane and Bill helped me immensely and didn’t charge me any extra fees or anything. They gave me a ride home and were professional and kind. These people with all the negative reviews don’t seem to have a great grasp on the auto industry (or basic grammar).
Will rent from here again and recommend it to my friends!

This was the most disgusting experience ever !!!,
I called ahead to reserve a car.
It was time sensitive… There was no car readily available. !!!,
One had no gas.
The other was too big.
All were filthy, non were washed !!!,
It took 45 mins… !!!,
When I complained, the young African American ARROGANT male threatened to cancel our credit card and not give us any thing !!!,
When we finally drove off the engine light service needed was on!!!
Totally unexceptable behavior !!!, HERTZ SHOULD BE ASHAMED !!!,
This office should be closed down and put out of its misery !,!!!,!

Dear Hertz,
Here are some pointers on how to improve your business at this location:
1. Tell your employees to not be rude when they pick up the phone, in particular David. If you need to hire someone else or pay them differently, do so.
2. Don’t offer one pricing at the time of rental check out, and then secretly charge insane fees to my credit card that really have no reflection on the receipt.
3. Renovate your terrible looking office.
Other than that, great rental experience.

They rent high mileage cars but charge a premium rate. No one wants to rent a vehicle with more than 58,000 miles.

Sold me on a Camaro the day prior and pulled the old bait and switch when I arrived. I’ll never use this location again. Show up and they never had the car to begin with.

Do not rent a car from this place.
I made a reservation and had confirmation email but when I got there, they said I had to wait while they help other customers. Their reason was that we made the reservation same date.
What is the point of making reservation…

I generally like Hertz. My company uses them as their primary provider for all corporate travel so I use their SF Bay Area locations as a Gold member frequently. This location went above and beyond to make things right when another nearby Hertz location (Mission Valley Toyota dealership) failed me miserably.
The other Hertz location not only failed to provide me with a «Premium» vehicle as was requested, it put me in a car that had cigarette burns in the seats and trash and sand in the trunk. It stunk of perfume to cover up the smoke. The car had no business being rented but with no other reasonable options and appointments to keep, I took it. They said they couldn’t even call me when a better car became available because they were too busy.
The gentleman at this hotel location told me he’d hold on to a premium car and swapped it out without any fees or hassle at all. He was fast, professional, sympathetic and kind. The car is still a downgrade from my personal car but this location is to be commended for making things right.

Very Unprofessional.
This was the first time I’ve used Hertz. I was initially promised that I will be dropped off once I returned the car, but staff did not follow through with agreement. Ended up walking and taking the bus and getting lost because I was new to the area. Luckily I live fairly close by and eventually made it home… by walking in my heels.
Return counter agent made me feel like I was a nuisance when I informed him that I was promised that I was going to be dropped off. I also reported to the same return counter agent that a personnel used my number to contact me and use it for personal reasons WITHOUT my consent. I was then informed by the return counter agent that, «He’s just being friendly.» If your company uses my phone number to contact me for personal reasons after I provided it to be used for business purposes only, I highly doubt the safety of the other personal data I provided. I will NEVER use this service again.
