Cal Copy

When I asked something confusing about posting my package, the guy was very impatient and showed a terrible attitude to me. I won’t return again. I really hope I read these reviews before I walked into this store.

I had excellent service from Reza, who knew exactly what to do in regards to shipping– I truly felt like a valued customer. They even tried to contact me after I had left something there! Will be my go-​to for future shipping needs.

This place is very unorganized. Initial perception is that they take advantage of their customers.
I went in to have something wrapped packed and shipped and they just had boxes laying all over. Wrapping was haphazard with paper, minimum bubble wrap and tape. I was worried my package would be ruined.
After expressing my concern they still charged me $ 5 for minimum packaging and supplies!
I do not recommend this place.

I’m literally in the middle of a transaction and the guy left for the restroom. Kind of awkward. Been waiting for him for 6min now. I guess when you gotta go you gotta go. Im going next door to the deli to get lunch. Hopefully he’s done by time my sandwich is.

Great place to get printing and shipping done. Came in a few weeks ago to print out various pages for my college classes and it was quick and easy. The owner Reza is also very nice and accommodating!
Also got my passport pictures done here and they came out great

I just bought one of the course reserves from a man named Reza. Its amazing to be able to purchase textbooks at an affordable rate. Im glad that this business is so close to campus and I hope more professors utilize his services.

Maybe it’s because I’ve held various jobs in customer service, or maybe it’s because I like things done a certain way but the way I look at it is if you are the only worker at your business, then when a customer walks in, you get off your phone and stop having a personal conversation.
Imagine my dismay when this did not happen during my trip to Cal Copy about a month ago. I was already pissed off that my professor required us to pick up an expensive reader from here instead of at the university book store and now I had to deal with waiting ten minutes too long in a stuffy store with no a/​c. I wasnt even asked to wait, or hold on. The employee or possibly even owner’s conversation just kept going and going.
When he finally attended to me, I gave him the slip of paper with the book that I needed and he returned with the WRONG book. Seriously dude? I’m usually forgiving and understand people have off days… but he had one job, and not only did he not perform it in a timely fashion, but he was unable to deliver the right item. I instantly pointed out his mistake, and I received no apology.
I paid the $ 80 for the book and he returned to his conversation. I, on the other hand won’t return to Cal Copy unless absolutely necessary.

Idk wats the deal but the owner always close the place early. Either change your business hour or open till what your hour actually says. It’s such a wasting of time coming here just to find out they closed at 4 when the sign on the door says they close at 4 30. Uh

Horrible! The guy working there overcharged me and I feel cheated. I was only using the computer for one minute and waited the other four minutes for him to print it for me and he wanted to charge me $ 5 to print just 2 pages! I gave him a look of disbelief and he arbitrarily said, fine, just $ 3. $ 3 to print 2 pages! I’m never going there again. It’s such a shady place.

This review is for their passport photo service.
Wow. Horrible quality.
I placed two orders thinking I could trust the guy.
I was not even able to use the photos because they were too exposed.
I went back and explained to the guy that the photos would not work for what I needed them for — he just said «these are perfect pictures!» with an attitude and refused to fix the problem.
If you need passport pictures, go somewhere else.

The guy working there is really nice. He’s the older gentleman with white hair. He’s really helpful.
The prices are fair and they can order whatever you need fast. I’ve been here on several occasions to pick up readers/​papers for class and they’re always in stock and I’ve never had a problem. The prices aren’t cheap, but they’re fair.
Yeah. I’d go back here.

These guys do really work and they are the cheapest. They specially do volume work and binding. Good color copies, workstations both Mac and PC, business cards, banner printing and they also accept American Express!

I like the whole concept of having readers for our courses. It certainly saves me a fortune in fees for printing PDFs. Ink is expensive damnit. This place does a good job of putting the readers together in a user friendly manner. They are relatively cheap and it’s even cheaper if you pay in cash. They’re fairly convenient — located right across the street from the UCSD campus. Picking up a reader here also means I get to indulge in the food in this plaza too.
They also do binding which is really nice. If you buy a book unbound because its cheaper (and I have), this is a great way to get it bound on the cheap so that you can really use and abuse it like any regular book. Also increases the sell-​back value of it.

i get my course readers here, and i appreciate that instructors use this place cause it’s cheap and there are less. .. um, copyright issues.
i guess you get what you pay for though cause half the time the articles are skewed and sliding off the page, missing pages, or they’ve copied some silhouette of a mysterious object over the text. they’re also not fantastic with the customer service. i get the distinct impression they hate students. i don’t really blame them.

I’m a professor, and I have these people make my course readers. They are very nice, do decent work, and charge a mere fraction of what you’d pay at the alternatives. It’s a family run place, which, of course, I always love. And they’re a pleasure to work with.
If you have major printing needs, try here first.
Try Kinkos last, and only then if you find that you have so much money that you don’t know what to do with it all.
