My absolutely favorite hydroponics store. The only place I go. Great selection with a friendly and knowledgeable staff.

This is the place to go for all your container gardening supplies. (They are a hydroponics shop, and they seem well stocked and well versed in that area, but this review will mostly pertain to my experiences in trying to container garden).
I’ve always enjoyed gardening, but was moving around too much (school mostly) to have a permanent home where I can take the time to garden. However, now that I’ve found a suitable long-​term location, I decided it was time to act upon my interests and actually try to do it instead of think about it. Therefore, I needed supplies.
I first searched on Amazon for my gardening supplies, containers, potting soils, fertilizers, etc. Turns out, even with «free» shipping, potting soils and liquid fertilizers are quite pricy on Amazon (simply because they weigh a lot to ship). Therefore, I decided to try to find a local store that would have the supplies that I needed, and that’s how I discovered this little gem of a shop.
What I plant: I grow organic vegetables (tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, broccoli, etc) in fabric containers using potting soil and supplementing their feeding with liquid and dry organic fertilizers).
What I buy from here: fabric containers (SmartPots and GeoPots), liquid fertilizers (FoxFarm Big Bloom), dry fertilizers (Happy Frog Tomato and Vegi) and potting soils (Dr. Earth Home Grown and FoxFarm Ocean Forest) to name a few.
Why I buy from here:
1. Great selection. They have many products in stock from many different manufacturers. In addition, if they don’t have an item in stock they are always willing to order it for you (as they did for me). Also they carry a lot of items you can’t find at your local big box store (premium organic potting soils and fertilizers, fabric containers, etc).
2. Great prices. I don’t know if this is just how hydroponic stores operate, but they never put prices on their items. You have to ask the price regarding each item. At first, this feels a bit uncomfortable, like you’re bargaining with street vendors (and always getting the short end of the stick). However, La Habra Hydro does it right. They give you a decent discount below the MSRP/​retail price on items. (I’ve done my homework, by going on manufacturer websites and/​or checking other sources). You may feel uneasy at first trying to buy items without a listed price, but you will soon learn that you are definitely getting the best prices around, or at least not paying a markup above MSRP. (Feel free to do your research first, like I did, and you will see that you are definitely paying below retail).
Examples: FoxFarm Big Bloom is $ 16.50+ at Amazon/​local nurseries, $ 13.60 here. Happy Frog Tomato Fert is $ 17+ elsewhere, about $ 10 here.
3. Better than any other local hydroponics store. I can say this with confidence because I’ve driven to them (and they are not close) and looked at their inventory. I have scouted out hydroponic shops in Rowland Heights and two in Pasadena, and their selection, prices and customer service were all very poor. I literally walked into their shops asked them for a few recommendations and the prices on them and left because the prices were over retail or they weren’t friendly. In addition, and this really bothers me, I don’t grow medicinal herbs of any kind (and to each their own), but don’t grow and/​or use it at work. It is unprofessional and down right rude, in my opinion. This has never been an issue for me at La Habra Hydro, and I appreciate that, but check out the store in Pasadena and you’ll wonder how they’re still in business. In addition, other hydroponic stores don’t seem to carry a good variety of items, or don’t have them in stock. True story, I called another hydroponics store, got a quote for an item, went to that store, and then they didn’t have it. Supposedly, I only asked for a quote on the price, not if the item was in stock. If you’re going to quote a price it’s assumed you have it in stock (unless stated otherwise). F*** me, right?
4. Great Customer Service. Two points: 1. The staff is knowledgeable about their products and always willing to help and offer advice on how to reach your gardening goals. 2. I’ve never been pressured to buy inconsequential supplemental items, like I feel happens at other local nurseries/​shops («Oh, you need this and that and this and that and you’ll have amazing crops, etc.»). The knowledgeable staff gives good explanations on what their products do, why they like them and why it may help me achieve my gardening goals, and I’ve never felt the «car salesman sleaze.»
In conclusion, I can confidently recommend this shop to all other container gardeners. You will receive good customer service, good products, and most importantly, good prices.
(If you’re wondering why I container garden, it’s because I’ve been at war with gophers since the dawn of time, and they’ve won. Our peace treaty states that they get the ground and I get the patio).

Great place to get everything you need for your growing needs also a great place for information on hydroponics and equipment. They wont sell you something you dont need also the prices are very fair and they will work with you and your budget. Take your printed receipt in and they will beat or match your prices.

Went in the other day to get some advice for my GIANT pumpkin vine and Mo was nice enough to field all my questions and even send me home with a few important tips to think about. MUCH APPRECIATED! The store itself is nestled alongside the building instead of out front, I had to drive around a few times to find it but follow the signs and it’s obvious. Wide variety of brand name and some powerful lesser known products which is VERY nice to see. Thank you for being here! It’s disappointing that more people haven’t caught on to all the possibilities hydroponics opens up. Home Depot and Lowes have nothing on this place, keep up the good work.

First off. Hydroponics is for everybody. I came in so I can buy supplies for a lettuce raft system to use in my classroom. I want my students to be able to grow their own food and to see how easy it is without soil. This place had everything I needed and tons more.
I was helped by a young gent by the name of Elton (?) and he hooked me up. He didn’t try to sell me a bunch of stuff I didn’t need. Rather, when he found out it was for a school project, he hooked me up with some sample of nutrients and other chemicals. He was super knowledgeable about what I was doing and very supportive.
I’m sure you can grow a great many things with hydroponics that are family friendly, nutritious, edible and legal. Do a google search for hydroponic vegetables and lettuce rafts. Once you do, La Habra Hydroponics has all the stuff you will need at a great price. And I don’t work for this place. I left that happy!

This is a great place for the novice grower. I walked in with a list of ingredients and no clue. These guys really helped me figure out what I really needed, and offered recommendations, great prices, cool vibe.

CHEAPEST ANYWHERE! ANYWHERE! I am so pissed for two years I over payed by 35% at other hydro spots! Came to see Rob at La Habra and saved money and yielded better crops. His knowledge and expertise is truly the value but the prices are UNREAL too!

Pretty large store. They have everything from product to actual knowledge. I walked in trying to find a solution to my plants dying in the winter time and walked out with a lot of knowledge about plants and nutrients. Rob really knows a lot about gardening and plant life in general. He was very helpful, gave me what I needed, and everything was at a good price. My plants are doing very well thanks to Rob and his store.

These guys are great. I was there the other day and they spent a ton of time with me and gave me free samples of a couple different products. Its nice to see a hydro shop that cares about creating relationships with customers instead of just pushing for a quick sale.
I will definitely be buying my gardening supplies from them from now on.

La Habra Hydroponics is a great place to get all your needs for hydro and soil. I picked up some FoxFarm Nutrients and checked out some of their products.
