Rosemont Vineyards is a boutique, family owned and operated Winery, producing about 4,500 cases annually, located in beautiful Southern Virginia near Lake Gaston.

We currently have 15 different varietals in the vineyard, including Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Grigio, and Petit Verdot. We have the distinct pleasure of growing every grape that we use in our wines: 100% estate grown, produced and bottled!

We are excited to share these wines with you and we think that you’ll be pleasantly surprised with what we’ve been able to produce in Southern Virginia!

History

Established in 2007.

Our 450 acre Rosemont Estate has been in the Rose Family since 1858, with the home place actually dating back to the mid-1700’s. Over generations, our farming operations have included vegetable farming, a peach orchard, beef cattle, dairy farming and commodity crops such as hay, tobacco, corn and soybeans. In 2003 we continued the journey as stewards of the land, planting over 32,000 grape vines across 22 acres.

Our winemaker, Justin Rose, had come back to help with the new family venture, and in the Fall of 2006 enrolled at Napa Valley College to study viticulture and oenology, while interning at O’Shaughnessy Winery and Capiaux Cellars. In 2007, Justin returned to Rosemont to help oversee the final construction of Rosemont Winery and that Fall, lead the first harvest and production of Rosemont of Virginia wines. Since his first vintage in 2007, his wines have won numerous awards, including ‘Best in Show’ at the 2010 Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition.

Manager

Justin is the Winemaker here at Rosemont Vineyards and is responsible for our 4,500 annual case production!

Justin started his journey into the wine industry after receiving his Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Virginia in 2004. Upon graduation he returned to the family farm, Rosemont, to help establish Rosemont Vineyards. In 2006, Justin enrolled at Napa Valley College to study viticulture and oenology, while interning at O’Shaughnessy Winery and Capiaux Cellars.

In 2007, Justin returned to Rosemont to help oversee the final construction of Rosemont Winery and that Fall, lead the first harvest and production of Rosemont of Virginia wines. He is currently in charge of working directly in our 22 acre vineyard and all wine production. During his tenure as Head Winemaker, his wines have won numerous awards, including ‘Best in Show’ at the 2010 Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition.
