I will just lay out the facts for when I lived there. At first we thought it wasn’t so bad it was part underground, but it would help lower the electric bill, it was really reasonable for a two bedroom. So we signed the lease. When we moved in the apartment was gross. Once we actually started moving in there was dust everywhere. We ended up having to clean all the counters and cabinets three times to feel remotely comfortable putting our dishes away. About a month later our toilet broke. We called several times and finally after three weeks of no responses we fixed it ourselves out of our own pocket. We had several complains about one of our neighbors being very rude, loud, and having a very loud dog(which were not allowed). But, nothing was done about it. Also, once it turned winter time we thought we would save money on our electric being part under ground and it was not energy efficient at all. Which we discovered because when we cleaned the windows the wood part was broken. The windows were just filthy with dirt because the seal was poor and old. Once spring/summer came along in front of the building was just green and black because of the mildew. The ants and spiders were bad as well. And, the fire escapes were always full of garbage. There was no grounds maintenance done at all except that they shoveled snow and mowed the lawn sometimes. When we brought up these concerns and gave notification we were moving(yes it was before our lease) we never received a response. After we moved out we were never told or got any communication whether someone else moved in or not. Until the first month when she sent a letter saying she was going to keep our security deposit in replacement for that months rent. The second month no communication at all until the sheriff showed up to serve us our papers. Again, she did not reach out at all. And, we were not going to call her as she rarely answered or returned our phone calls when we were residents.
