History

Established in 1972.

We started off as a traditional family owned lawnmower shop 40 years ago with a primary emphasize on repairing lawnmowers.

40 years later, we are proud to still be a local family owned and operated store now into a second generation!

Over the years our business has changed in such a way that we are now an Outdoor Power Equipment store. Which means we sell and service complete lines of hand held and wheeled machines and tools used to beautify and maintain outdoor areas.

Our service technicians have several industry certifications such as EETC 2 cycle and 4 cycle certifications and we even have a B&S Master service technician on staff!

Our technicians are trained yearly on changes so that we stay up to date on repair and service requirements needed to maintain the machines we sell and service in proper working order.

We are happy to be a part of the foothills community and we hope you call or visit us if we can be of service.

Our CEO has has been working in our local family owned business since our doors opened in 1972.

Scott is a Briggs & Stratton Master Service Technician and also is EETC 2 cycle certified. Not only does he have factory training from Stihl, Briggs & Stratton and Echo, his dedication to outstanding, expert customer service has earned us an elite Briggs & Stratton Diamond Dealership.

Scotts expertise going back over many years can really help when you’re looking for parts or service on older machines or if you really just need to talk to someone who really has «experience».

Went into Toro’s Lawnmower with Honda motor model number looking to buy filter and spark plug. Nice gentleman helping me locate part until the lady who i assume was the owner told the guy helping to get back to work that he did not have the time to help me. She then told me to go back and get serial number from engine. i went home put the same number I gave to Toro’s Lawnmower. The Part number for both came up immediately and bought on amazon at fraction of price. This place does not understand customer service. I can t believe they have been in business for so long a time. I have never had such poor service at any place shopping in my 60 years in La Crescenta.

Came to Toro’s a while ago to ask about my lawn mower that I had in the garage for over 2 years since I converted my front & back lawn into a drought tolerant garden using mostly California natives & plants from other Mediterranean climates to save water usage & less weekly maintenance. However, a need arose for the use of the lawn mower again.
Before I started it up, I decided to go to Toro’s to buy a new air filter for the mower since I hadn’t done that in years. I went up to the salesman & explained the situation. He told me to change the oil also since the oil could have degraded, and then told me to just start up the engine to see how it would work. If the mower started without any problems, then there would be no problem. If there were a problem, then that would be the time to turn the mower over to them for repair.
I was impressed that Toro’s would be so honest & helpful. I would imagine that many repair places would have told me to bring in the mower right away just to gouge me. This kind of unselfish, honourable advice gives me confidence to bring anything to Toro’s for repairs in the future. The salesman I met was not just honest & helpful, but also personable & welcoming. 4+ Unilocal stars for a local business that we should all patronize not just for business health of our community, but to recognize honesty & ethical business practices.

After spending the better part of a day trying (unsuccessfully) to start our new chainsaw according to the instructions in the owner’s manual, we decided we needed professional help.
We carried it into Toro’s and explained the problem to a very personable and knowledgeable young man, who asked a couple of questions and gave us some advice on how to use the choke in our (warm) climate. He then demonstrated the technique, and started the chainsaw in less than 3 seconds (I am not exaggerating!).
The store is small, but well-​stocked with everything you need to maintain your garden power tools. They also repair what they sell, so I am looking forward to a long relationship with this business!

Called them for a replacement part for lawnmower. Scott the owner said he didn’t have in stock but could order it. When I went in to pick up it didn’t look like what I needed and his wife, who was very knowledgeable, said it was and that I also needed a clutch. I was reluctant to buy them so asked her if I could return them she said absolutely. When I sent my son in to return the items he was first told that since it was ordered there were no returns. I asked my son to tell him that his wife said I could. Well surprise surprise the wife said she would take back but at 50% restocking fee. Shame on you!!! and she wonders why people choose to buy from the home improvement stores and the «mom and pops» are becoming extinct. I will never buy from them again!!!

One of the last few remaining solid and true ‘mom and pop’ shops.
The knowledge and help of the staff here is amazing, and their inventory is impressive, even for a ‘hole in the wall’ kind of place.
Not only do they know their products and their business, but they can give you complete and honest answers instead of skirting questions. I always feel as if Im getting quality attention, and that they aren’t trying to milk me for money. They, again, are very honest. That is rare and hard to find these days.
