Stil-​mor Automotive provides a one stop shop for all makes, sizes and ages of vehicles, a variety of RVs and boats. We do everything from inspections, oil and lubes to transmissions, brake jobs and much more.

History

Established in 1964.

Stil-​Mor opened their doors in 1964 in LaCrescenta, California. Today the family owned business is rated one of the highest ranked automotive repair shops in customer satisfaction in Southern California. Over the years Stil-​Mor has received 100% satisfaction in the AAA surveys and became a top ranked AAA approved auto repair shop. The shop is a member of the Automotive Service Council (ASC), a confederation of repair shops, part stores, insurance brokers and automotive publications. We are also have well trained, ASE certified technicians. Stil-​Mor strives to keep the environment green by recycling all of our waste products.

Business Owner

Jeff Kiesendahl, owner of Stil-​Mor Automotive, has been working in the automotive industry most of his life. Born in Eugene, Oregon, his family moved to California and eventually settled in La Crescenta, where he grew up. He attended the local schools and after college went to work for Stil-​Mor Automotive and eventually bought the business. Jeff, and his wife, Dayl live locally and take pride in giving their customers the best service possible as well as a nice place to visit. All their children, grandchildren and parents also live locally. Jeff is known for his honesty, patience, friendly disposition and expertise in the automotive field. In his free time, he loves to tournament bass fish, and will always have a good «fish» story to tell!

These guys are great! I highly, highly, recommend them. My in-​laws have been going to them for literally generations. They are honest, and straightforward. Some mechanics take advantage of the fact that most people have little to no working knowledge of the mechanics of cars. Not these guys. They describe the issues with care so that you understand, and they answer questions with patience. They’ve always taken great care of my family, and now me :)
Plus, if you are local, they will drive you home while they work on your car, and then pick you up when it’s done. Huge bonus.
Similar to another reviewer, I don’t post reviews here either unless I have a wonderful experience (or a really bad one). It’s tough to find a mechanic that you can trust. I am so happy to have found them and I’m also happy to refer business for them!

How Can this business not get the 5 stars rating-​should be the question and the answer! From the years of knowledge that the owner Jeff Kiesendahl brings to the business as well as to the community (he and his family have been local to the Crescenta-​Canada area for over 75 years now) — to the beautiful murals gracing the office which were hand painted by His beautiful, talented wife– not to mention the fact that Stilmor is probably the cleanest, most stylish automotive shop in all of Los Angeles County. All these things plus much much more make Stil– mor not only a place to bring your car but makes it a business where they value your automobile but also the safety of You and your family.
i have 4 children and Stilmor is always making sure i have my car serviced and maintained regular with reminders, not because they are in it for themselves but truly and honestly because they are concerned about the safety of my family on the road.
Each time we go my kiddos CAN not wait to go visit their garden that they have down at the far end of the shop, they Love to go in the office and get a little plastic worm while staring in awe at all the cool fishing gear that Jeff (an avid bass fisherman) has hanging inside his office doors. Taking 4 kiddos under the age of nine anywhere is always an adventure but when you have to juggle car seat changes and car pickups– Stilmor is not only understanding but extremely supportive and so Helpful!
Thank you so very much to The Kiesendahl Family and staff, this crew is always thinking of you and grateful for you and your skills, making our road school, road trip and adventures Safe, secure and worry-​free!!!

I am a new referral to Stil-​Mor Automotive and I gotta say I’m liking what I’m seeing so far. My first visit there was met with a genuine willingness to help and inform. The gentlemen at the front desk quoted me a much better price and warranty than I was finding, even if I was to do the service/​parts myself. They also offered me a ride both at the beginning and completion of service and my car was finished on time as promised.
These guys are good and they will not gouge. They are so honest that it’s almost unbelievable. In fact, my second time there was for a completely different car issue, which again was met with immediate assistance and quick performance of a minor service that they didn’t even charge me for while one of their competitors quoted me $ 60 for the same exact service.
Stil-​Mor Automotive gives mechanics the good name they deserve by treating its customers with care, fair pricing, honest business practices, and keeping them on the road. We could all learn a lesson in ethics from these guys.

I’ve been going here for over 10 years. My dad introduced me to them and although I’ve tried other mechanics (with different degrees of success), I’m glad to have returned.
They’re honest, fairly priced, and do great work. I have absolutely never questioned a quote from these guys — which I can’t say about every mechanic.

I’ve been going to Stil-​Mor Automotive for years and I should’ve written this a long time ago. I’ve never known a more a honest auto mechanic and if you don’t believe me, take your car in for service, get their recommendations for service list, and then bring it to Stil-​Mor so that you can see how much money you’ll save because of their honesty. Prior to performing any service, I get a phone call advising me what he service is and my options, and they’ve never gone over the service cost that is quoted. My car is always done Ina timely manner and I’ve never had to return because a job wasn’t done right.
I drive in from 30 miles away to get my vehicles serviced here because I won’t get ripped off and the job will be done right. You can’t go wrong with Stil-​Mor Automotive.

I usually don’t bother with ratings and reviews unless my experience has been an absolute amazing one or a complete nightmare. What a relief to find a good mechanic that you can trust!
I was referred to Jeff at Stil-​Mor Automative to look into my overheating BMW, and I could have not been more impressed with his team’s services and their quality of customer service. Prompt, efficient, friendly and professional with reasonable pricing!
Will definitely stick to this place and refer anyone looking for a mechanic. Needed a new thermostat because my car was overheating even-​though, I had a brand new radiator. Took my BMW in and not only did they do a good job in a timely manner, they also gave me recommendation for future preventative measures!

Finally, a knowledgeable and fair place I can get my cars repaired! After problems at both the local dealer and some other independent repair shops, I feel like I’ve found my local car-​repair home. I’ve now had them work on all three of our vehicles (a Chrysler Crossfire, a Jeep Liberty, and an old Chevy ‘Vette), and I’ve been very happy with them. I’m starting to feel like I can really trust them… which is no easy feat for an auto repair place these days. So long as they keep up the good work, I’ll definitely keep going to them!

I used Stil-​Mor Automotive for several years but when I purchased a car from Toyota I ended up getting service there under my contract. I never felt comfortable at Toyota. I’m back at Stil-​Mor because I trust them to not overcharge. It’s hard to find honest, hardworking people today and I’m glad I’m back at Stil-​More. They do excellent work.

I’ve always received 5-​Star Automotive Care at Stil-​Mor. Jeff and Dennis are honest, attentive, informative, and accountable for their work. They fixed what needs to be fixed at a reasonable cost and advise of any conditions that could lead to problems in the future.

It’s been a couple years since I originally wrote this review and thought I should update it. I’ve since moved out of the area but think my earlier review is right: Car repairs done right at a good price.
The last work I had done was in January 2012 and it was the same quality work that I’ve experienced for almost 10 years. My Explorer is still running strong at over 260,000 miles because of Still-​Mor.

I’ve taken my cars to these guys since 2002 and have always been happy with their service. They do the job right and stand by their work.
This is an old-​school shop. You don’t wait for the 20-​minute oil change like some places. Instead you drop off the car for the day and get everything done. They aren’t about getting as many customers through in a day as the possibly can, they’re about getting the job done right.
My 1997 Ford Explorer has about 215,000 miles on it and is running strong because of the good service from these guys.
