Dr. Lytle and his assistants were kind, understanding, and compassionate. Their expertise and professionalism was clearly evident and, therefore, reassuring. I am very thankful.

I went in to have my upper wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Stamper at the Pasedena office 12 years ago. I went in for an emergency appointment as I could no longer bare the pain from having two impacted lower wisdom teeth. I was in so much pain before the extraction that I had to be seen on an emergency basis. But no pain after the extraction. If I had know what the process was going to be like, I would have had my teeth extracted sooner. I had a great experience! No pain, no bruising, no discomfort whatsoever after the procedure. Destiny brought me back to him 12 years later to have my lower wisdom teeth removed, except this time it was at the La Cañada location.
Yesterday, August 1, 2015, I went in to have my upper wisdom teeth removed once again by Dr. Stamper. My appointment was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. but I received a call at about 8:23 a.m. that they had a cancellation and was offered to be seen earlier. Music to my ears! I quickly got ready and headed over there as they had scheduled to see me at 9:15 a.m.
I was hoping to have the same experience I had 12 years ago and I was not disappointed at all. I asked to have general anesthesia as I didn’t want to be awake during the process. The assisting staff was great, I remember having Jenny assist me. She was very friendly and accommodating. The receptionist at the front during check in was also extremely friendly and provided me with a great welcoming smile.
Jenny hooked me up to all the monitors and explained that they doctor would be in to administer the sedative. Blood pressure was monitored for a period of time before beginning procedure as I am under treatment for high blood pressure. I was then administered the «happy gas.» Dr. Stamper then administered the IV sedative and I had no clue when I was out. All I remember is waking up after the procedure and being assisted by two of his staff members to the recovery room. I was then reunited with my family members. Doctor came in a bit later to check in on me. Minutes later I was released to my family members who would be driving me home. I was given a prescription for pain and antibiotics and was given a brochure with after care instructions an ice pack, extra gauze and the jewels I had requested (my extracted wisdom teeth.)
Again, Dr. Stamper did not disappoint me. I had a great experience! No pain, no bruising, no discomfort whatsoever after the procedure. Dr. Stamper called me at about 7:30 last night to check in on me. I wasn’t able to answer his phone call so I returned his call this morning. He asked how I was doing. I said, «Marvelous!» He said if I had any trouble whatsoever to just give him a call. I appreciate him checking in on me.
I highly recommend Dr. Stamper to anyone who needs to have their wisdom teeth extracted. Thank you Dr. Stamper for giving Lytle, Tate and Stamper a great reputation with your magnificent work and outstanding service. Keep up the great work!

If I can give this office 0 stars I would! I can’t start off to say how horrible the customer service is here. All the ladies here have so much attitude I would never walk in to this office again. They are horrible!!!

Dr. John Lytle is not only a wizard with his work, but an incredibly kind man who really cares about how you’re feeling and tries to settle you down and get you breathing comfortability before administering the anesthesia.
I had an amazing experience. Got all 4 of my wisdom teeth out this morning and I’m feeling pretty great and it’s barely mid day right now. There is pain, but it’s not at the point of me wanting to strangle myself lol
Thank you to everyone there for not only being incredibly sweet and caring, but for being able to calm me down while I was having a mini panic attack! You guys are all the best! Dr. Lytle you’re the man!

As is the case with many medical experiences today, the medical staff is outstanding but the business staff is a time sink.
My son had his wisdom teeth removed and everything went very smoothly.
A month later we get a bill from the surgeon’s office saying we owe 1800 dollars. What?!
My husband spent an hour on the phone with our insurance company trying to figure out what had happened and as it turned out we didn’t owe anyone anything. What?
The surgeon’s office said they generated the bill because they hadn’t been paid by the insurance in a timely manner. They informed us that the insurance paid them on the 10^th. The bill was generated on the 12^th.
Although the medical care was outstanding, the office might very well have you wasting your time on the phone with your insurance company. If you are paying cash up front I imagine you will not have a problem.

Dr John Lytle is a true professional. I was very nervous but he made the experience very easy. He even have me his cell phone number!
I highly recommend these guys. It’s obvious they know exactly what they are doing.

I thought my Beverly Hills plastic surgeon is the best until I met Dr. John Lytle and his staffs.
The after care services are life and time saving, cost efficient and never a day I was left alone pondering if everything was right.
The day of surgery I wasn’t nervous coz I was receiving general anesthesia. (I lied) I remembered Dr. John Lytle asked me how much I weigh after I told him I weigh 109. By the 3^rd time he asked me the same question, I was like (inside my head) @&#*. Then I saw a few birds flew across the blue sky… and why the window so big and wide and near the ceiling line no longer my concern.
Then I heard a nurse told me to open my eyes for the two wisdom teeth had taken out.
When I opened my eyes again I was in my own bedroom。 。。。a note pad on my nightstand.
I really like the branded ice head band, even the reusable ice packs have the doctor office contact numbers on them.
They provide printed simple instructions to follow after the procedure, a next day phone call to check on you plus Dr. John Lytle replied my text when I thought I had a fever.
I truly appreciate everything Dr. John Lytle and his staffs have done for me. I feel very lucky.
P. S. During the consultation I asked Dr. John Lytle will taking out the lower wisdom teeth gives me a deep V– shape face that all Asian girls want. He quickly gave a firm NO. The look on his face was so… … (I don’t know how to explain, but I can tell you I almost laughed.)

My family has been seeing Dr. Lytel for a while. He recently extracted my sister’s wisdom teeth, and a few years ago extracted mine. He has very good bedside manner, made me and my sister feel very comfortable, and his staff are very friendly.
As far as technical skills go, you can’t find someone better. Our sockets healed very quickly.

Wow — this office does EVERYTHING right. It’s like a well-​oiled machine. Dr. Lytle is compassionate, professional, and exceptional at what he does and he has surrounded himself with a superb staff who does the same. Absolutely TOP NOTCH. They all work in unison and they get you in and out quickly and efficiently. They really care about you and make sure that that explain everything. This office (almost) makes me want to have other dental work just so that I can go back! But seriously, if you are looking for an oral surgeon, Dr. Lytle is your guy!

Wow. I thought I’d be writing about how I made a second call to this La Canada office and that the service and care was dramatically improved. I wanted to give them another chance.
NOT. The woman who answered was very quick to suggest I should come back in to have another consult with the doctor since he was rushed. She was quick to make excuses for why he was rushed.
As of to date, I have a second consult scheduled two weeks from now. Still haven’t gotten an authorization for the actual procedure, which I don’t really want completed in the manner that the doctor stated that’s how he does it, never suggesting or explaining that other options are available.
And secondly, I have a billing statement from my dental insurance showing a bill for the consultation which it seems the office was quick to submit, but they were not that expeditious in submitting the pre-​authorization which I’m still waiting to hear about. And now I have figured out why she was so quick to suggest I come in for another consult. The office gets to bill my insurance again!
Also, I find it very rude that the doctor cheerfully and promptly replies to Unilocal reviewers who gave positive reviews, but not the reviews that are not so becoming of his office.
What to do now?
Update: It must be that the office personnel understood I was upset after I advised her of our unpleasant experience on our first visit/​consult regarding extracting my son’s wisdom teeth.
Today I get a call from their office. They apologized and are happy to work with me and my son in having his wisdom teeth extracted and addressed our concerns with regards to a local anesthetic. I must say that the office manager is on the ball here in making sure the client has a pleasant experience. Much appreciated. Hopefully this change with continue throughout our visits with this office. Keeping my fingers crossed.
UPDATE: August 2014, my son’s wisdom teeth extraction went so smoothly. He had two removed on one side and a couple weeks later had the other two removed. Dr. Lytle is top-​notch. My son felt little to almost no pain. The actual procedure of extraction was done in MNUTES!
The staff at both the Pasadena & La Canada office were very knowledge about the after-​care and instructed us on how to help my son feel comfortable and heal quickly. I was impressed by the entire staff and their effort to make amends after our first meeting. I would definitely recommend Dr. Lytle to anyone who is need of having wisdom teeth removed.

My name is Ivan. I went in for three extractions in one day. Dr Stamper and his staff
are Real caring. I mean the first dentist I went to only cared if I was covered for implants.
He did not care of the severe pain that I was experiencing. Dr Stamper made sure that my B/​P was low enough to start the procedure. He explained everything in detail to ease my concerns. His nurses and techs were Awesome with a capital A! they even called a cab for me to make sure I would be ok. I mean I could go on and on and on. I work in an ER and we could use some of the patience and caring that you showed me.

Dr. John L. Lytle is the best! I wish he could be my MD for everything. He took my wisdom teeth out in the last couple weeks and the procedure was a breeze. He’s a stellar surgeon and has a fantastic approach to treating his patients. His follow-​up care on me post-​op has also been extraordinary. His office staff are fantastic too. They’re kind, efficient, and professional. Everything was explained to me in great detail, no question went unanswered. It is clear that Dr. Lytle is top of his field. He’s very intelligent and well-​educated, and speaks to you in kind. I very much appreciated that he prescribed and suggested the perfect medications that reacted well with my system. Dr. Lytle and his staff provide exemplary service, which includes attention to details that really matter. For example, after surgery my biggest concern was that I was going to hold ice packs up to my face — didn’t have to worry as they think of that ahead of time and provide a headband that contains gel packs. They even give you four gel packs so you can freeze two while using two. This made healing a joy. With treatment like this, I could get my wisdom teeth out every week. Thank you so much for making something seemingly scary turn out to be no big deal at all. I suggest that everyone bring their oral surgery needs here. A million words of praise are not enough.

I had an amazing experience with Dr. Lytle and his staff. I got all four wisdom teeth out this morning. I was initially very nervous and scared but the staff was so sweet and answered all my questions about the procedure/​recovery very thoroughly. I have had practically no pain since the procedure and my swelling is very minimal. The doctor did an amazing job and the procedure went very smoothly. I recommend this doctor to everybody! I have visited him in the Pasadena office as well as the La Canada and the experience was amazing at both. I’m very satisfied with the level of professionalism and kindness from him and his staff! Highly recommend. :)

I had a great experience under the care of Dr. Robert Lytle and his team of professional and caring staff. I had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out and am currently healing very nicely. No problems after the procedure. I felt really comfortable when I walked into the office. The staff is very nice to help you with your questions and I can see the effort of care they put in to make your experience the moment you walk in a nice one. Dr. Lytle created a very soothing and comfortable welcome in his office the moment he greets you. He talks to you very nicely and in a very calm, confident way. He explained to me exactly what he is going to do and I felt at ease knowing I was in good hands.
The awesome part after the surgery I got a great head wrap with ice pads, so I don’t have to worry about holding ice to my cheeks! Thank you Doctors Stamper, and Lytle for thinking of your patients and creating a ice pack head wrap! My boyfriend wishes he got his wisdom teeth taken out by you so that he too could’ve gotten a head wrap! :D This simple head wrap helped me deal with the healing process so much easier and most importantly be able to sleep without having to deal with ziplock bags of ice.

Welp… after doing some research for my job, I was reminded of Lytle, Tate & Stamper in good ol’ La Canada and after seeing so many positive reviews, I had to write one as well.
I’ll spare everyone the boring details… but I will say that even 13 years later I still look back on my wisdom teeth extraction with as much fondness as one may have for a dental procedure. I was blessed with wisdom teeth which meant that 2 of them had become impacted and formed a kind of ‘super-​tooth.’ I saw Dr. Tate for my consultation and procedure… which seemed to last approximately 30 seconds thanks to the general anesthesia.
The healing process seemed to last only a few days, and I was in very, VERY minimal pain.
Being a La Crescenta girl, I have known many people who have gone to L, T and S for their various maxillofacial needs, and I would recommend them to anyone who needs a dental surgeon with a soft touch and excellent bedside manner.

Our highest recommendations for these amazing doctors. Our daughter had three wisdom teeth pulled today and it couldn’t have been better. During our initial consultation we were greeted by a very pleasant front office staff. Everyone was so delightful! We were then briefed by the nurse who made us feel comfortable. Then we met the joyful Dr. Stamper who made pulling teeth feel like a pleasant experience.
Fast forward to today where the procedure was done quickly and without pain. And as others have said, Dr Stamper himself called to make sure everything was fine. I loved his delightful manner and loved his caring ways even more!

Dr. Stamper was very professional and complete. Along with his assistant Natassia she was very helpful in allowing me to assist with my brothers wisdom teeth surgery recovery.

I’m sitting here this afternoon in total awe of the professionalism and skill of the people at Lytle, Tate & Stamper. I visited the elder Dr. Lytle in the Pasadena office a few weeks ago, and had the extraction today at the La Canada office.
From the moment I walked in until I left, I felt welcomed, supported, and informed. I would recommend this practice to anyone needing oral surgery.

I’ve seen Dr. Stamper at his office in Pasadena and had the most wonderful experience (see my review for that office). Unfortunately, I cannot say the same thing for his office in La Canada. Because of my schedule, I arranged to see him in La Canada since I already had the day off.
I showed up and Dr. Stamper did his evaluation and left his staff to go through the billing/​insurance information for scheduling my procedure. It is 5 weeks later and this office still hasn’t been able to get me in. I have called 3 times already and each time I call the staff just doesn’t seem to care. They keep trying to tell me an authorization takes 4 – 6 weeks. I know for a fact that is not true because:
1. I called my insurance company and have confirmed with several representatives that it only takes about 1 business week to get an authorization.
2. I work for UCLA hospital and getting authorizations is part of my job. So I know that it does not take 2 months to get an authorization.
The last time I called and spoke with someone there they told me I really wanted, they would resend everything but that meant waiting another 6 weeks. WTF? NO. Today I tried calling them with a representative from my insurance company on the line and they don’t pick up calls until after 2pm. It is so hard to get a hold of these people. And when you do, they could not care less about patient care.
I still recommend Dr. Stamper but go to the Pasadena office. Don’t bother with these rude people.

Dr. Stamper is a top-​notch oral surgeon. I was referred to him by my general dentist Dr. Ken Mak in order to get my final wisdom tooth extracted. This is by far the most pleasant of all my wisdom tooth extractions.
I took some Valium on an empty stomach 1 hour before they operated on me with general anesthesia. The entire procedure was a pleasure, I didn’t feel any pain during or after the procedure. I was prescribed some Vicodin for pain, but only took the initial dose and haven’t needed any after that.
They do a good job of keeping their appointment times, a big plus & rarety at any dental office. This was true at my initial consultation appointment at the Pasadena location on El Molino, and the final procedure location in La Canada on Foothill. The La Canada office is the only one that they open on Saturday, which is why I went there instead of the Pasadena location.
Finally, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a follow-​up call from Dr. Stamper himself that evening (I had left my cell phone in my car – but he left a voice mail)… you just don’t get or expect that type of service in many other places.
